im here i have just been really busy with work and spending my paycheck at our disney store since it will be closing feb 20th :sad1: they have all the adult tees on sale for $6 and pretty much the whole store is on sale we only spent $13 on 2 adult shirts, a journal, and one of those XL disney store bags.
I may have to go back before it closes and get my brother a birthday present
Jen what seating did yall do for the Hoop-dee do review? we are gonna try and see it and i think we are gonna try for the wednesday right before the cruise it was either that or the saturday night when we get in but i though saturday would be the hardest to get in.

hiya, sorry been a bit awol too, but there wasnt much going on here, where has everyone disappeared to???!!
$6 t-shirts sounds really cool, there's a couple of adult t-shirts at work that i quite like, but even with my discount, they come out at about $15, which is money i could do without spending at the mo. oh well, will just have to wait til they go on sale.
but i'll be getting my CM ID card soon, which although it doesnt really mean much at the mo (i can get my discount at other stores with it, and discounts at WDW (which i cant use til next year anyway)) i'm still looking forward to getting my CM ID in a really dorky geeky way :rotfl: means i'm a fully fledged CM!!

lainey, i'd heard that a load of the US disney stores were closing, i saw a list of which ones, and i saw one in georgia, and wondered if it was your one. i'm allowed on the cast boards on here, and there's a longish thread about the stores closing and all the people losing their jobs. its a horrible thing, especially as a lot of the cast say they've been there since their stores opened.

got a day off tomorrow, planning on not doing a huge amount! lol. might as well enjoy the time off while i can, i've managed to pick up quite a bit of overtime today over the next month or so. need money....... but i'm £32 (about $50) better off than i was before i started work today already, over christmas we had a few target "competition" type thingys between the stores in each area, we got points based on how much the guests spend, how many things they buy, how many actually buy stuff, and the more points we got, the more vouchers we would get. i got mine today and i've got about $50 worth of gift vouchers that are valid for loads of big stores over here. that was a nice cool thing to start my shift with :) free money/vouchers are always good!

hows everyone's weekend going?
i've been working all weekend, got a day off tomorrow, then back in for 5 days straight. its a good thing as it means i get some overtime, need all i can get at the mo!
i've just booked my flights for the holidays this year, we're not going anywhere fancy this year, so i'm off to spain (parents own a house out there) for a week in july and a week in september, it'll be nice to get some sun and warmth!
£111 (about $177) for 2 sets of return flights, just me at the mo, not gary (he's not got enough holiday days to take. darn good price i think!

Hi girls!

Lainey, we sat in Cat 1 for the Hoop Dee Doo show. I don't know if you're familiar with the place but we were off to the side of the stage, right where the piano player is. Any seat in there is a good one because the actors interact so much with the crowd. They even when up to the balcony seats!

I've heard for awhile that the Disney store in NYC is closing. Any truth to that Karen?

My weekend was fun! I had a 3 day weekend because it was Joe's birthday on Friday so I took the day off. We went to Atlantic City on Friday night and stayed over. Then on Saturday we went to see Disney on ice: 100 years of Magic. That was my first time ever seeing one of those shows. Sooooo good, I loved it!!! I took some pictures so maybe I'll post them on here soon. Sunday I just relaxed and had dinner with Joe's family and surprisingly watched football. I usually check out the scores so I know what's going on but that was the first time other than the Super Bowl that I've watched an entire game start to finish. Go me! :rotfl:

atlantic city sounds fun, we saw disney on ice for the first time about 3 months ago, it was cool :) you'll have to show us some pics of when you went.
yeah the world of disney in NYC is closing, but they are opening a new one somewhere near times square. not sure when though.

jenny, just noticed your ticker, donald is ALMOST at all star movies!! not long to go now!

I know!! Just a little over 3 weeks, I can't believe it!

Which Disney on Ice show did you see?

The WoD store isn't that far from Times Square. They're going to close just to move 10 blocks downtown??

we saw princess wishes, it was good, but i'd have preferred to have seen one of the general disney on ice shows, i'm not that all into the princesses. it was still really good though :)
totally jealous that you're going back in 3 weeks, we've gotta wait til the end of next year before we can get back, although i'm now all booked up for 2 trips to spain this year so at least i get some sun this year.......

got this off stitchkingdom.com about the new times square store:

The closing of 2009 saw the end of an era for New York City in that the World of Disney, located in the world-famous Fifth Avenue shopping area, shuttered its doors forever. A taste of the Disney Parks, the World of Disney store was a sister store to its Downtown Disney counterparts, offering NYC residents and tourists the opportunity to purchase theme park merchandise, Disney on Broadway merchandise and — of course — NYC branded merchandise, some of which eventually became available at Youse Guys Moichendise in Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

The location was a holdover from when the city was virtually covered by Disney Stores. When Disney began closing the stores, all of the New York City stores fell victim, but Disney kept and held on to the Fifth Avenue store (which was the flagship Disney Store at the time) and eventually transferred it over to Disney Parks and Resorts, re-opening it as the World of Disney in October of 2004 as the license to operate the regular Disney Store chain was famously transferred to The Children’s Place.

Believe it or not, since Disney closed all the Disney Stores in NYC, there have been no Disney Stores to pop up in Manhattan. It would be a while before New York City would even see its first Disney Store in the outer boros. Perhaps The Childrens Place couldn’t open one in Manhattan by the terms of the agreement, but as there was no real overlap between the two in terms of merchandise, there was a giant pothole in the hearts of those longing for a local Disney Store.

In 2010, that pothole will finally be filled as Disney announced plans to open a Disney Store in Manhattan, at the tragic cost of losing the World of Disney store. One saving grace, however, is just like most anything in New York City, the new Disney Store will no doubt be a hotbed of activity flaunting the latest and greatest in technological advances and the Disney difference, offering an experience you won’t find anywhere else.

The location of the Disney Store, scheduled to open in fall of 2010, will be located at 1540 Broadway, in the heart of Times Square, between 45th and 46th Street. Now you may not know that address by name (MTV has its home at 1515 Broadway), but you may know the former occupant of that space, Virgin Megastore (as seen in the background of many movies, most recently 2012). At the time, the 3 floor, 60,000 square foot retail location (which included its own multiplex movie theater), was the largest Virgin Megastore in the world. There’s no mention of how much space Disney will be taking over, but the location is beyond ideal, located next to the world’s largest toy store, Toys R Us, which itself features a two-story tall ferris wheel.

The new Disney Store will incorporate technologically advanced displays including an interactive Disney Princess castle to serve as one of many magical centerpieces at the new Times Square location. An all-new children’s theater will feature the latest Disney entertainment, classic animation, and continue Disney’s rich tradition of storytelling.

“Bringing Disney Store to the center of Times Square is a monumental achievement, and we have created a retail experience that complements the energy and innovation that Times Square inspires,” said Jim Fielding, president of Disney Stores Worldwide. “We’re focused on reinvigorating retail and providing a unique shopping destination to millions of families from all over the world who travel to New York for a magical experience.”

“Disney’s bold move to restore 42nd Street’s greatest landmark theater in the 1990s was THE turning point in Times Square’s recent history. We are thrilled that Disney is bringing its creative energies yet again to Times Square with this new Disney Store. An iconic brand is coming again to America’s most iconic place,” said Tim Tompkins, president of Times Square Alliance.

Renovations will begin soon at the Times Square location, designed to showcase a wide assortment of products inspired by iconic Disney characters and key entertainment properties. The newly-designed Disney Store will facilitate interactive play and imagination, host children’s activities, special events, and celebrity appearances. Over the next five years Disney Store plans to strategically balance its retail portfolio, enter new markets, and transform more than 300 locations across the US and Europe to feature the new design.

Update: 1/5/10 - Although Disney is not yet ready to discuss how much of the space will be used, sources have indicated it will be approximately 25,000 square feet, or nearly half of the existing space. By comparison, it’s estimated that the former World of Disney location consumed about 36,000 square feet.

Thanks for posting that Karen. I know the exact location they're talking about. It's right in the middle of everything. That store is going to be huge!!!

if we do go to new york later in the year, i'm definately going to try and get there!

yeah in theory we're coming over in august for my 30th. not sure though, depends on if we actually have the money to do it.
any idea how far away newark airport is to NYC, which is better, newark or JFK? and is it easy to get to the city from either?
(sorry, if we do end up going, i'll probably be picking your brains for the next few months :))

It's really easy to get to the city from Newark. You can take a cab or there is an air train that will take you to a NJ Transit Train. The train will take you right into NYC, at Penn Station with is 32nd and 33rd between 7th and 8th. It takes less than a half hour. The station is about 10 blocks from Times Square. With a cab you may hit traffic with the tunnels and it'll cost you more.

JFK is a nightmare. Just don't haha.

just seen your TR jenny, whats happened? are you ok?

Yeah, I'm ok. Did you just try texting me cause it said I had an incoming text but it didn't come through. I just got sick of the drama and always being the bad guy. I feel bad that he's hurt and that I pretty much lost my best friend but it feels like a huge weight has been taken off my shoulders.

yeah i just texted you.
were you guys having a lot of problems then? sorry to hear that, hope you're both ok though

We've been having problems for awhile. He's just not the right guy for me and I'm not the right girl for him, plain and simple.

fair enough. was just worried about you, as long as you're ok and happy, thats all that matters
