We just got back from the 7-day western cruise and I have never had a better vacation.
We are already booked for another 7 day in April and my DW and I are thinking about a 3-day without the kids just to spend the entire day at serenity bay.
Negatives:
Has anyone noticed that when you refill the soda mug, they do not use the same button (at the bar) or dispenser (goofy's) that they use when you pay for a Coke? I believe that they serve a lesser brand name cola when they refill the mugs, I live in Atlanta and can tell Coke from a knockoff and the Cokes served at dinner did taste different than the cola in the mugs.
Some of the Disney photographers, and I think there are 45 to 50 of them! Do not allow you time to get your own picture of a character. We had some that snapped a picture and then walked toward the character and broke up the pose immediately, not allowing us to get a shot. I know that Disney makes a good amount of money from this part of the business, but it is very annoying. SIDE NOTE: I saw a gentleman lining up his photos at Shutters and taking close up duplicates with his digital camera and then throwing the Disney proofs away. Devious but clever!
Shore excursions take just far too long to get organized, we had to meet at 10am in Rockin bar D to go to the Grand Caymans and we didnt actually get on the bus until 11:45.
It rained from the minute we hit the beach up till the time that the bus pulled up at Playa Del Sol in Cozumel. I know Disney cant control the weather. Yet! But it irritated me nonetheless.
Actually, we plan on catching a taxi out to Playa del Sol next time and just paying the 6 bucks to get in. Its cheaper than the excursion price and we didnt want to stay there for 5 hours.
Dress codes really need to be enforced. My DD was so excited to get dressed up and felt a little let down when the people around us still had sand on there feet.
In my opinion, Key West is NOT a destination that Disney should have, its not kid friendly and I think the time would be better spent at Castaway Cay.
Everyone should be aware that the carry on policy when you first board is the same as the airlines policy. We made the mistake of packing all four peoples carry on items into one rolling bag. It was too big and we had to check it. Luckily our bags where delivered shortly before we had to change before dinner. For anyone planning a trip, remember to pack a SMALL bag for each passenger, not a big one for all.
Positives:
Oh my gosh, I will never cruise with another company again!
We loved it. The Kids programs where phenomenal! We sometimes couldnt get ours to leave. Our server Jean Jimenez was fantastic and Ive already written to Disney corporate about him.
I slept better on board than I do at home. The staterooms are larger than any other lines of comparable cost and the service is Disney. That says it all.
If we could fly out to Castaway Cay and stay all day at serenity bay we would do it in a heart beat.
The shows where fantastic and the comedians made us laugh for days.
Room service went above and beyond the call of duty.
Over all we had a fantastic time and will continue to go.
