I started a new job Monday. I work in lower Manhattan now.

in february 2001 I got a job on Long Island. it was the first time in my career that I wasn't working in lower Manhattan. so I was not in the city on 9/11/01. but I will be in the city on 9/11/02.

most of my new co workers were working at our offices on 9/11. I[m hearing the evacuation horror stories from them. to some of my co workers, it's like 9/11 happned just a few days ago.

it's a bit strange. and I don't know what things are going to be like next month.

{{Hugs}}, BR. I think it will be emotional for many, and certainly those folks who were so close. :(

It's funny you posted this today. On my way home from work... I was thinking about this. It will be a strange anniversary.

people down here are really jumpy...yesterday the Port Authority was testing its evacuation systems in some of the buildings near
Ground Zero. the recording announced "please evacuate the area" when it was supposed to announce "this is only a test". some people were really scared.

I was just thinking about this yesterday. It certainly is going to be a difficult day. I am thinking about taking the day off so I can go to a memorial service if my church has one. In many ways it seems like it happened such a short time ago.

I think of 9/11 every day, several times a day. It especially comes to mind when I see injustice, cruelty or meaness from people. I see people have gotten quite back to 'normal' and it makes me sad. Just after 9/11, I felt that the world really changed. Innocence lost. But now I see people rushing around worrying about petty things, material things, fruitless things. People are back to DOING and not BEING. This isn't everyone of course, and usually strangers, but it's still around. I noticed July 11th came and went without anyone saying, "Hey, it's been 10 months since 9/11." S

I think it needs to be some kind of memorial day. A day off work to cherish your family and friends, and be thankful.
NOT a floating one either.

Congrats on the new job!
I can only imagine the trauma that these poor people experienced and I am sure it will take a long, long time to get over it, if they ever can. :(
