9/10 yr old girl christmas gifts???

My DD is 8 and its hard to find things for her too. She likes Monster High Dolls, Littlest Pet Shops, and thats about it!!! When asked what she wants for christmas, she just says "whatever".....UGH! She did ask for an American Girl Doll, but she has NEVER played with dolls and i am hesitant about paying that much for a doll she may or may not play with. She LOVES electronics and stuff, so she may get some DS games, She has a desktop computer, so no lap top for her, I pod Touch may be something to get her. DH wanted to get her a Pink Flat Screen TV for her bedroom, but im just not sure if she'd like getting that under the tree....I really dont like this age!!!

My DD8 have never played with dolls either but she asked for an AG doll (Kinani) for her birthday this past July and we did get it for her. She LOVES her and plays with her a lot. I was shocked. She hasn't asked for another doll this year, but wants Santa to bring her soome of Kinani's accessories.

 I would love some book ideas though- (NO VAMPIRE series PLEASE- she's a fairly advanced reader, but I do want the subject matter age approprate ) and little gift ideas

Has she read the "Dork Diaries" series yet? My DD10 and her friends love them. She also likes alot of animal books, but the only series that come to mind are "Starlight Animal Rescue" and "Seekers" by Erin Hunter.

She's getting the "Camp Club Girls Series" for Christmas this year. It sounded perfect for her as she also likes to read mysteries. The setting is a Bible camp, so just a note in case religion is a factor. If it's not, this site is one of my favorite places to get books for her as they're age-appropriate.

Other than that, she wants her bedroom redone (new furniture, bedding and wall color), so that's her main gift. She'll also be getting several arts & crafts kits (tie-dye kit, pom-pom scarf kit, probably some more perler beads kits), new knitting needles, Wii games, DS games and some stocking stuffers (nail polish, lip balm).

Our 10yr old will be getting a bookshelf stereo that she can plug her ipod into... maybe a video game... she is past the doll phase.

You know that might be a good option for us too. Do you know if the stereo charges the ipod while it is docked?

Our 10yo DD wants the Vera Bradley lunch bag, Brighton bracelet and charms, gift card to Claire's and we always get her craft things. Michaels has these $2 to $4 wooden puzzles she enjoys and she also likes to make origami and paint. That's all we have heard about lately. Off to read this thread to get some ideas. We are not sure of the amount we are spending this year but probably about $150.

Vera Bradley has 3 of their patterns for 60% off today. Lunchboxes included.

Thanks for the info! :) I've written this down on my list to check out also. My DD likes the Ponytail Girls Club. Cute series with places for her to write and things to think about- sort of a novel with mini-devotions, that teaches life lessons. Your DD may like this.

Yay! I thought of something today and ordered one...a lap desk. My dd is always writing, drawing, etc. while watching tv (not homework, we have a no tv policy for that) and is constantly borrowing one of my kitchen trays for this. Okay one thing down:rotfl:

Is anyone getting their child a Kindle Fire?

My BIL has an iTouch that both his daughters like to play games on. He wants to get the oldest one something similar. She has had all the V-Tech and Leap Frog learning things but was never into playing them.

His parents are going to pay a certain amount for Christmas and her birthday (November) and wants to get her something she will use.

He is looking at the Kindle Fire.

I posted earlier that DD would be getting a laptop for b'day but it looks like it's going to be the Kindle Fire instead. She decided that she'd rather have something that's really easy to carry with her just about anywhere. And we figured out that, for what she wants, she doesn't really need all the features of a laptop. She mainly wants something for games, music, movies, and reading. Some of the stuff she likes to watch is only available on the website - can't buy the download. And those websites are flash based. So an ipod or ipad wouldn't work. Hopefully the Kindle Fire will work well for this. And I love that it's so much less expensive than the Apple products. There was a whole thread on just the Kindle Fire over on the Community discussion forum. You might want to check that out if your looking for more information.:)

My DD just had her 10th birthday and is a young 5th grader. For her birthday she got an I-Pod Touch and a Pandora bracelet from her grandma and aunt who spoil her rotten. I ordered some faux Pandora beads from Amazon because I'm not spending $30+ on every bead for her bracelet. She is also really in to Vera Bradley so I ordered items in discontinued patterns when they were 60 or 75% off on their website. So far I got her a small duffle with matching flip flops, a travel kit that matches her large duffle and mini-cooler that matches her school tote. She really doesn't want and/or need any toys but she does like to play board games plus WII and Nintendo games so I'll have to pick up a few of those too. I hate shopping for this age too and I wouldn't even attempt to buy clothing for her because she has gotten so fussy about what she likes to wear.

If you want a little cheaper option, I got my DD an I-Home alarm clock/radio for her Nano last year and it charges the I-Pod plus she listens to her music on it. However now she both a Nano and I-touch so maybe I should look for larger stereo system to charge/play the touch on. Shoot maybe I should take the Nano and use it myself now that grandma got her the touch :rotfl: that she was begging for.

Thanks, my BIL looked into the Kindle Fire and it's not sold in Canada. He said the cloud network that it runs on wont work up here. Now he's back looking at an iPod Touch. He's a bit disappointed as the larger screen and better price would have won had it worked up here. I'm sure sometime in the future it will, but her birthday is in November.

The Kobe Vox is similar i believe and for Canada....i'm thinking of getting my kids them. It may be a cheaper option to the ipad for my kids, but they use Ipads at school so really want those, but i havent even gotten them itouch's yet and they are 11 and 13............

DD9 will turn 10 at the end of Nov. So far she is asking for a big skateboard, matching AG ppjs for her and her doll. We also plan on getting her fishing rod since she keeps asking to go fishing - not sure why since we do not eat alot of seafood (think fish sticks).

Her stocking will have makeup, B&BW products.

She wants a cell phone so she can text but we already told her she has to use my I touch with the free app at home only. No cell until at least middle school.

Lets keep the ideas coming!

Another idea I have for DD is getting a small tub (with a lid) and filling it with construction paper, glitter paper, glue, pipe cleaners, stickers, etc.

She loves to do crafty stuff and it would be fun to have it all in one place.

We've got TONS of crayons and markers already...no need for more of those! :rotfl:

Well...our 9 year old girl is getting a trip to WDW this Christmas.:cool1:

hey that's exactly what our DD9 is getting.. she doesn;'t know about it.. unless something happens.. we're not going to say anything to her until the day we're leaving.. we'll be all packed and ready to go!!! ;)

Do you mind sharing what kind of makeup products you get for your daughter? I know mine is going to start asking for makeup soon and I'd love some recommendations for things that are a little more age appropriate. I know that Clinique used to have some products that were so sheer they couldn't be overdone. Don't know if they still carry those tho. TIA:)

My daughter has been bugging for a cell phone too. Most of her friends have one but I just don't see the need for her to have one yet.

No ipod or nano or kindle or cell phone here for my 9yo!

Maybe the Monster High DS game and I'm think one of the mini AG dolls (she likes those better then the bigger ones - she has Kit and a Bitty) I was thinking Legos since she's in the FIRST Lego league this year, but after the Harry Potter legos got no use for 5 months - NOPE! Maybe the nerf gun, no to the Fijit or the Xia Xia - I'm trying not to get toys this year! Yes to clothes.

DD12 - Vera stuff, American Eagle stuff, she's reading the Dork diaries so another book of that. Tons of Bath & Body lotions and hand sanitizers. Just Dance 3 Wii dance game.
