Hello everyone,

I'm looking to fly to Disney for March break and am finding an airfare on the AirTrans Airways website for US$89 each way, non-stop, out of Buffalo. There seems to be a lot of flights available at cheap rates for March break, which leaves me scared (does no one want to fly them?). Has anyone had experience with AirTrans and if so, did you book directly with them?

We usually drive to WDW so this is all new to me.

Any words of wisdom?
Thanks.

:yay: we flew out of Buffalo last December on Air Tran for $79.00 each way and I was also worried... But it was a great experince !! i would so fly with Air Tran again

We have flown AirTran out of Detroit once with no problem at all. Nice planes, leather seats, lots of room. We're heading to MCO tomorrow morning on Spirit Air but coming back on the 4th with AirTran.

Okay thanks. I may just take the plunge. If anyone else out there has any pieces of advise - fire away.

If you can get a non-stop flight ... that's awesome! Flew Air Tran last Aug from Buffalo, had to change planes in Atlanta. No problem for early morning flight down, but return flight was a nightmare. Air Tran is famous for changing flight times ... they did this to us which resulted in an incredibly long layover in Atlanta for our trip home. We left WDW at 9:30AM, and didn't arrive home in London Ontario until 1:00AM ... a very long day.

Other than that, the service was awesome. If you can get those flights, go for it!

I am surprised you are seeing this price - it can't be tax incld?? We ended up buying NWA tickets out of Detroit since the flights out of Toronto were crazy and the times were crazy too (but these were still $550 CDN)! I don't believe Air Trans is direct either which is always scary flying in the winter - make sure your stop-over is further south. Our last trip with a stop over was in Chicago and we almost missed the connecting flight - very stressful. I vowed never to fly a connecting flight again!

Did you pay $550 per person out of Detroit? You should be able to do alot better than that. I've never paid more than $59 per person each way from Buffalo, even with taxes it only comes to $67.00 p.p.

Southwest has some March rates fro $59 p.p, I believe most dates are booked now.

Although I have never flown Airtran, i think $89 for direct flight in March is a great deal also. They do offer a few direct flights.

Do they have flights like this in December???? I was thinking of flying to Clearwater or Tampa next December for the Christmas break and my husband said that flying out of Buffalo is way cheaper even with leaving your vehicle there for 5 days. I guess he might be right???

Yes. You will need to montior their sites regularily and subscribe to their newsletter for internet sales.

The 3 discount carriers most Canadians use are...

Southwest Airlines - offer some direct flights daily
Airtran - offer 1 direct flight weekly
Jet Blue - no direct flights from Buffalo, but do have direct flights from Syracuse depending where in Ontario you live, that airport may be closer to you.

Southwest seems to be the most popular airline because of their great change and cancellation policy. They also offer a "Ding" application you can dowload on your computer for even lower discounted fares. CHeck out their website or the transporation board for more details.
