86'd From the Poly? No worries-bring us Margarita's & Wiener Salad! A TFW Meet Aug 08

Tanya, maybe you, Janet and I can arrange a meet at the Hippy Dippy Pool on the 24th sometime. We will be at the MK that day. We will probably take a break in the afternoon as I plan on hitting the parks for rope drop and the the EMH that night as we leave the next day so we will probably need to take a nice break in the afternoon. If the family doesn't want to come with me I can ditch them for a few hours, I don't want to miss a chance to meet my American hand twin after all.

Our plan in to be at AK most of the day and then coming back and hanging out at the pool the rest of the day evening and just having dinner at the food court. My girlfriend and her kids are checking in that day too and their plan is to just hang at the pool all day/evening (although that may change for them as they getting in at 9:40 in the am - they may hit DTD or something for a while in the afternoon - it's kind of up in the air.)

If this happens though we have to pinky swear NO BATHING SUIT PICTURES unless they are from the shoulders up only

Ok, so I had a great idea - which Andy states is cruel. I thought that we could drop the kids off at Simba's Clubhouse before our Jiko ADR. Great idea, right?
Nope, Andy says that it's cruel to dump them off whilst we go have a nice dinner. I bet they'd enjoy the Clubhouse better than Jiko. I bet I'd enjoy Jiko better if they were at the Clubhouse!

I absolutely see nothing wrong with a little alone parent time for dinner, even for the evening. You still have brought your kids along on vacation and are showing them a wonderful time. I would have no problem doing this. The problem that I would have doing, and I know a lot of people do it, is going to Disney World without my kids. I couldn't even imagine doing that.

I am fine with my party of 6 being at a table by itself...Although my party of 6 could wind up being a party of 5. My parents may decide at the last minute not to jpin us, KWIM...but I am fine with us 6 being together (easier to hide the video camera from you all )

I don't mind - I just prefer to be at a drinking table is all - NOF you dry folks. But if I'm going to be drunk and eatin' wieners, I don't want to be alone.

Here's my not at all humble opinion...
1. The kids are NOT going to dig Jiko. they may tolerate it, but it's not geared toward kids. So take any sense of them feeling left out of the "fun" out of the equation.
2. Based on LL's tales of Michale and what I've seen of Leo with a young friend to hang with, I can all but guarantee maddie and Evan would have a BLAST at Simba's.
3. You and Andy DESERVE some grown-up, together time and Jiko is jsut about perfect for that!

It's just me and Z for this trip!

I would have no problem doing this. The problem that I would have doing, and I know a lot of people do it, is going to Disney World without my kids. I couldn't even imagine doing that.
