Ok, You all know that he went to get coffee and donuts for the morning before the trip.
AND of course he got me some new shirts. He wole up at 7:30 and threw on some clothes and ran to Sears and Target. He came back with 5 shirts for me and a new pair of shorts for Quin. I knew I married that man for a reason.
I threw the shirts into the bags, fed the kids lunch 20 minutes after the donuts and we were off to Pease NH for what promised to be a long wait. Allegiant air wants you to check in between 2 and 3 hours early and since we had skipped the option to select our seats ($10pp each way) we knew we wanted to be early so all 8 of us could sit near each other on the plane.
Thankfully I had researched the airport and knew there was no food to be had there so we stopped at a Subway and picked up sandwiches to eat after check-in, while we waited forever. And it did turn out to be forever.
We checked in and at 3+ hours early they still put us in the back of the plane. No choice of seats, no discussion, nothing. You will sit here.
Allegiant is the only airline that flies out of Portsmouth right now so the security line wasn't even open. We waited until the 4:45 opening time, then 5:00 came and went, and finally...as Matt was entering a major meltdown, my mom was threatening not to go with us (because I was irritated that the security people were standing around looking at each other instead of letting us through) and the DH decides he's not going - I fall apart. I am standing in the line with tears rolling down my face, a sopping wet baby who's diaper is leaking and there's my mom trying to hand me more stuff to hold so she can go home.
Just in time the security line opens and I have to figure out how to get the stroller, food (the Subway sandwiches) my carry-on and the baby all through the line by ,myself...at this no one is speaking to me because I am "being unreasonable."
Through security means we still have an hour until our scheduled departure but of course this rinky-dink airline is not on time. Other than all the "family togetherness" my greatest regret of this trip is the budget airline (remember- I did NOT choose the airline.) At 7:30pm we finally board for our 6:40pm flight...only to find NO AIR CONDITIONING on the plane.
I am really not a picky person, I do however like things to open when they are supposed to (security gate) and I like my planes ontime with at least some airflow so I can breathe. So far I have not been a happy camper. The Captain babbles something about the APU (how's that for an OAR utahmama

) not working and that we will have air once we are flying.
Of course this was at 8:00 and we found out that we were not cleared for take-off due to storms in New Jersey. So we sat. And sat. And sat...until they cleared us 32 minutes and 96 degrees later. I have never in my life felt more like farm animals in a pen than I did sitting and roasting on that airplane. I guarantee I will never fly with them again. You don't get two chances to cook my family alive inside a tin can.
The flight was eneventful other than the guy behind me swearing at a 4 or 5 year old child for the first 20 minutes of sitting on the tarmac. He stopped when I stood up, turned around and snapped "I have kids, watch your mouth!" I am not a "stand-up" person... I blame it on the heat.
So our 10pm arrival landed at 11:20 which means we get to the Contemporary at 1am and find that our reservations (mine and the Dparents) are not "linked" and our rooms are nowhere near each other. Of course they can't change it because there are only 2 other room in the whole place open and they are not near one another either.
Whatever..give us they key...the kids need sleep and I am cranky!
*insert trumpeting horns sound here*
We open the door and walk across the room, throw open the curtain and there it is in all it's glory...the Magic Kingdom!!!! The castle is a blue color, there are twinkling lights on the turrets, the astro orbiter is sitting there just waiting for me to see it. and the Main Street train station is so close i feel like i can reach out and touch it...how will I ever sleep with that sight out my window?
The Magic Kingdom is my favorite place, my favorite park and of course, our first stop the next day at 8am.....8am? I gotta go to bed!
Next up....See you on Buzz...
