8 days of DDP and 2 kids, March 5-12 2008

We are going for the first time in July and have nothing booked yet, I enjoy reading your reviews but I have no idea what your talking about with the abbrevations.

I'll do my best to explain them:

CS= Counter Service
TS= Table service
DH= Dear husband
DD= Dear daughter
AK= Amimal kingdom
ADR= Advanced dining reservations
SC= snack credits
POR= Port orleans riverside

This resort like Fort Wilderness Lodge is gorgeous and similiar besides the animals. The lobby was breathtaking .

I'm enjoying your reviews. Just wanted to point out to make sure people don't get confused...........Fort Wilderness is the campground and Wilderness Lodge is the hotel with WCC in it and the breathtaking lobby. :)

Believe it or not, I have read on here where people show up at the campground to eat at WCC and are very disappointed and confused. It IS confusing, isn't it?

Oh, I would have been horrified too if my son did that, but what are you supposed to do? Just what you did. You handled it well. And they used cleaner, right? I hate to tell that family what they are walking on all over the parks. And even I hate to think about what germs might be in the pool. Life is just too short too worry!

I agree, but I also don't blame the other mom for not wanting her kids to walk in it. Hopefully she didn't make a big scene with telling them to aviod it. I know I would have quietly told my kids to walk the other way.

I feel bad for the OP's DS. Poor baby. At least he got some new shorts out of the deal. :)

WCC is Whispering Canyon Cafe. A super awesome place. We went there too and just loved it and had a great time. The food was really good and it was just fun!

What I was asking before was some table services you used 4 credits instaed of 5. So I am assuming it was a typo?

Day 8 March 12 2008 DTD and leaving day:sad2: :sad2:

Breakfast: I always dread this day and often think about it the day I arrive. We slept in knowing this was our last day at POR. We headed down, luggage in tow to the Magical Express check in. The gentlemen was very nice and all bags were under weight:yay: :yay: :yay: . I was totally worried about this the whole way down and during the trip. We then gave our carry on bags to the baggage check just outside POR to the left of the main entrance. They were great too and the one red head was a hoot and reminded me of the actress on Mama's Family. So we finally headed back inside to the food court and ate breakfast for the last time in POR:sad2: My DH ate the bounty platter again with oj and water. My daughter and youngest son ate the kids platter again with o.j. My oldest son tried the make your own omelet platter with oj and water and I stuck again to the waffle platter with oj and the water again too. Again very good and yummy but I kinda didn't want to eat knowing this was our last time for many years being at POR. (We have been the last 5 years in a row and won't be returning until at least 2011:eek: )

Lunch: We picked ourselves up and headed to the boat to take in the sights and sounds for the last time in DTD. The boat again was lovely. We headed to all the shops and the lego store. I picked up some gifts and my DH finally picked out a shirt for himself. We headed to Goody's Candy Company to spend the last of our SC.

My DH got the Mickey Rice Krispie bar with oreo and dipped in chocolate with peanuts and then drizzled with white chocolate. My DS got the same thing except dipped in m&m's and sprinkles. I got the 3 pretzel rods one dipped in pecans, 1 in m&m's and 1 dipped in peanuts all drizzled with caramel on top. Then my DD wanted the caramel apple, so before I ordered hers I asked was the apple caramel dipped included in the SC and the women said yes. So my daughter chose one with peanuts and sprinkles. So we headed up to the counter to pay and my DH also got pineapple candy and my oldest got goofy hard candy too. The lady totaled the bill and I told her I was using the last SC's that I had. She said oh the apple isn't included. I said I asked the women before it was made and she said yes. She said she was wrong and I had to pay extra. I said then fine I didn't want it. So in the meantime, time wasn't on our side and we needed to get on the bus back to POR for the ME. So DH went back over to the counter with DD and re-did another one with pretzels this time. In the meantime I headed over to Earl Of Sandwiches to get dinner for us. While to make a long story short, while DH waited there, the women who told us the apple was included was getting in poopoo:scared: So I guess this is how things can get confused for customers. Total: 22.88 or 7SC

Supper: So I headed to EOS so we could take a little of disney with us on the plane. We love this place and couldn't leave without a little taste. My oldest got the Earl Club minus the tomatoe with a bag of chips and a cherry coke. My youngest had the kids grill cheese with a cupcake and a chocolate milk. My daughter had the kids pizza with a brownie and a sprite. Me and DH had the Beef'n Bleu with the cupcakes and the pop. We ate them in the orlando airport waiting for our flight:sad2: :sad2: Total: 44.36 or 5 CS

SO that is the end. I hope you all enjoyed it. I had some pictures but still can't figure out how to post them. Someday I will finally figure it out. I haven't added the totals up yet to see if we came out above cost or below but it was fun and we all enjoyed the variety of foods. It was still nice not having to carry alot of cash with us. We brought enough for tip and that was it. We always gave cash out and never charged to our rooms. We never had problems with them adding it to my visa that was attached to my room card because everytime we ate dinner, I gave them one of the kids cards and they couldn't make that mistake. My credits never ran out and never had problems with any of the keys except for the night we got them and they wouldn't print??? Thanks again everyone for the great comments.:wizard:

We did Earl of Sandwich too on our last day and took it to the plane. That was the first I ever ate there and is was really good. I wish we had one near here! I might have to go to Panera today (and settle for that. LOL) You got me thinking of it again!
Sounds like a good trip. We probably won't be back for a few years too and I was so sad when ours ended as well.

It's great to hear the Earl of Sandwich has gotten better. The last time I was in disney we went to EoS and it was awful. Super small sandwich and very limited with the DDP

I think the sandwich was 6-8 inches long. Not huge, but filling. They are warmed/toasted though, so if you don't like that I suppose you could ask for it cold. They offered chips or dessert for the dining plan. We went with chips. I thought it was a good deal.

I wish we had been offered chips - I was told not an option when I asked last week - oh well - the sandwiches were wonderful.
jenseib - I love the photo of your DD - it is too cute - it will be even cuter in a few years when she hits the pre-teen/teen years.

Thanks! She had a bit of an attitude towards picutres this year!

Great reviews. We are going in September, using the dining plan (whether it's free or not)!! I appreciate all the detail in your report. I also love that you say supper. I do too and get teased quite a bit about it, even from my girls....

Thanks for your great reviews, to upload photos you first need to load them onto a free site, I use photobucket.com, it's easy to follow the instructions then just copy the code starting
