It's been some years since we rented on a WDW trip, so I'm a little out of the loop. Is $180, total, for 8 days in March as good as it gets, or should I keep hunting? Do rental cars still have cigarette lighters I can plug my GPS into? We were Dollar Fastlane members that got us outta there in a hurry, what's Dollar's system like now, it seems Fastlane is no more? A possible hitch is that we'll be arriving the night before and staying at whatever 3.5 star hotel takes our Priceline bid, perhaps not the Hyatt. I know they'll shuttle us from MCO to our room that night, but will they take us back to MCO to get to Dollar the next morning? Lots of questions, thanks for any info offered.

It probably won't have a cigar lighter or ashtray. It will almost certainly have the outlet where a cigar lighter used to be located. Cell phone chargers, GPS units, DVD players etc. all use that kind of outlet.

The hotel will take you back to MCO the next morning. Price picking up the rental car when you land. The shuttles generally run ever 30 minutes. You'll save some time the next morning if you already have your car.

Thanks, that's huge. When I made the ressies, wifey said, 'Promise you won't get mad if you get lost'. Apparently I had a meltdown some years back when I missed the I4 off ramp to Crossroads for a grocery visit. Funny how I forgot that but she remembered, the Magellan will prevent that.

I think that is a great price for March! Being the busy spring break season I normally aim for 200 for a week.

In any rental you get, check to make sure the lighter outlet works before leaving the garage :-)

Good point. My last rental one of the "accessory outlets" worked and the other didn't.

Will do. My unit has as battery and can operate off-line, but I've never used it for an extended time unplugged.

I would guess the OP might do better as it gets closer to March, but that $180 for 8 days is a good start. We currently have a 9 day mid-size rental with National for Dec for $181 using the AARP code and a $35 off coupon. Coupons in particular often get more generous with alamo and National as the dates approach. -- Suzanne

I have gotten a Dodge Charger for 8 days in April for $178...$282 after taxes!!!

Yikes...they can sure make you pay!!!
