8 Crazy Nights! A Disney Dining Report 4/20-4/28 Updated 7/11 FINAL UPDATE!

Congratulations on your new addition, here's some pixiedust: for a
healthy pregnancy & delivery. You will be in my prayers.

I liked SAI too, I had the same entree as you & it was yummy, I also had a Mango Margarita that was delicious.

Can't wait to read your next reviews. We're planning on visiting AKL next trip just to go to Mara & have Zebra Domes.

Congrats! That is great news!
:goodvibes
'Ohana's is our favorite. Sorry you did not have a great experience there. I was just able to get ADRS but not until 9:40. It took 12 calls in the past 3 days so I am keeping it hoping to get an earlier time. Could you tell me if they still do the coconut races, hula .. this late at night for the kids?

:)
Congratulations!!!!:cool1:

I was so glad to see your SAI review. I, too, get jealous of the people eating there when I ride the boat, and I decided that regardless of the bad reviews, we will try it in Nov. Glad to see a good review, that cinches it! ;)

Thanks for the pass LOL, I really hope you like SAI as much as we did :thumbsup2

Thank you! When we were there they werent doing anything besides throwing food at us...didnt see any games or anything that I had heard about. I wouldnt go if you cant make the ressie earlier...but again thats just my opinion. Maybe itll be better for you:)

We woke up this day (Sat) and decided to take a breather and just hang by the pool/relax. BIL and SIL decided to stay yet another night and hang out with us so they joined us by the pool. Here's some bonus picks of the giraffes we saw near the pool
S7301809.jpg

S7301810.jpg

I have to say it is SO amazing having the animals around all the time!
After a few hours by the pool we decided to eat at Mara yet again since it was SO good last time. We looked at the menu, totally intending to try something new, and ended up getting exactly what we got last time :lmao:
BIL and SIL did order two flatbreads, but I didnt get a pic! Of course this is the only meal I let DH take the pics and he forgot their food....
Here's a shot of what we ordered yet again
S7301807.jpg

you can kinda see BIL and SIL's food in the background :lmao:
From the top....Fruit bowl, Chicken House Salad, Chicken Pita w/fries, and Zebra Domes. this was all SOOOOOOOOO YUMMY again! The only problem this time was the line was terribly long and unorganized. This time we ate at about 12:30pm, peak lunch time, and it was just chaos. We were able to find seating pretty well though, and the food was DELICIOUS.

After lunch we said goodbye to BIL and SIL as they were driving back to Ft.Myers. They were even kind enough to drop us off at Epcot! We arrived around 3 and made our way around world showcase a bit. Here's some shots of the topiaries at the front of WS for the Flower and Garden Festival. These are all of The Lion King, SO COOL!

S7301850.jpg

We arrived at Le Cellier right on time at 5pm, and we were seated in about 5min. They were turning everyone away at the door, but it wasnt too crowded outside waiting. Here's some shots form the outside of the resturant.

Cont. in next post, Le Cellier Food Porn!

Here's a view of the inside where we were seated
S7301843.jpg

Our server brought some of this out right away!
S7301838.jpg

YUMMMMMM The bread is sooo good here! I love all three but the pretzel bread is fantastic :cool1: from the top theres pretzel, white, and multigrain

I ordered the three course meal for the DP and started with the cheese soup
S7301840.jpg

I ordered this last time and wasnt a big fan, but I was really hoping to love it this time. Truth is I didnt LOVE it like most people say on here. It was good, but to me the tanginess was overpowering. But I dipped the pretzel bread in it and that was pretty good.

For our meals I ordered the Prime Rib
S7301841.jpg

I wanted to try something different then a filet, and this was pretty good as well. Again not fall off my chair great, but generally good. It came as I ordered it (MR) and I really liked the cream cheese mashed potatoes.

DH ordered the mushroom filet with the cream cheese mashed potatoes
S7301842.jpg

He LOVED his. I tried it and it made me wish I hadnt gotten the 3course meal and just stuck with the filet. But oh well, I know for next time!

For dessert I had the Chocolate Mousse
S7301844.jpg

This was super cute and very good! The mousse was really good but very filling after such a heavy meal. I think I just ate his mouth part and antlers :lmao:

DH had the maple creme brulee
S7301845.jpg

He liked this as well. I LOVE creme brulee, so he let me have a bite. EW I didnt like it at all! But then again I'm not a huge maple fan so I dont know what I was expecting :rotfl: It was cooked perfectly though, which is half the battle with creme brulee.

Overall I like Le Cellier....but it never quite lives up to all the hype for me. I feel like my local Wildfire at home in Chicago is better :confused3 But it is a good value for the DDP and I LOVE their bread, so we will probably eat here again. I think we will skip it next trip though and try something new!

Next up....Lunch at DHS and California Grill!

I love Wildfire here in Chicago. I too grew up on the Southwest Side of Chicago - GO WHITE SOX . I do have some bad news, this was the last year for the South Side Irish parade!! It has gotten too big and there were too many "incidents" this year. It is really sad, my DH proposed to me at the parade and my DD has marched in it with her Irish Dance school for the last 11 years. We will really miss it. Too bad some had to ruin it for others.

Disneyfrek7-You have go to be kidding me!!!! No more south side irish parade!!!!!! I cant believe my family didnt tell me :scared1: Im sure they were trying to spare me the heartbreak :lmao: I know there were many incidents through the years though...its too bad the drunk people cant keep it together

I'm following along with your TR...thanks for posting! :wizard:

Thanks! and Welcome :)

We spent the morning at DHS dividing our team between RnR and Tot! I just couldnt get enough once I went on them :lmao: For lunch we went to Catalina Eddie's (one of the stands at the Sunset Farmstand row of restaurants) We forgot our camera today so no pics :( but we both had salads with pizza and from what we remember it was good. After DHS we went over to MK for a bit and then made our way over to the Contemporary for our 8:55pm ressies at California Grill. We strolled around the gift shops a bit and we found they had fudge and other yummy looking sweets :)
S7301882.jpg

S7301881.jpg

We then went over to the desk in the lobby to check in at California Grill.
We were seated very quickly evern though we asked for a window seat. DH mentioned we were celebrating my Birthday, and we got an AWESOME view. We were right on the windows with a stright on view of the castle. I just couldn't believe it!
I couldn't get a very good pic of the castle because of the windows....but you get the idea
S7301891.jpg

Here's me at the table so happy!
S7301886.jpg

And a few shots of the table
S7301887.jpg

S7301890.jpg

S7301888.jpg

We decided to split a bottle of wine...It was a Zinfindel blend...Oh yeah, and it was from California :rotfl: This was very tasty!

S7301896.jpg

With the wine came some bread which was warm and yummy. Also, I really liked how they added sea salt to the butter YUM
Now my original plan was for us to just use 2 TS credits here and split an entree and dessert because I knew DH wanted sushi and I wanted to try a flatbread. We ended up ordering some sushi for DH, half California Roll and half Salmon Roll. And yes there's one missing...DH couldnt wait!
S7301893.jpg

At this point we realized we had enough credits for us to each get an entree and dessert. Therefore I opted for the Creamy Asparagus soup instead of a flatbread. I thought I would be stuffed if I ordered a flatbread too!
S7301895.jpg

This is actually a half portion, they split it for me and DH because he wanted to try it. The soup was DELICIOUS. Very creamy with wonderful asparagus flavor, I think there was truffle oil on top too MMMMMMMM
cont.....

DH ordered for his entree: (allears.net)
Oak-fired Filet of Beef with cheesy Yukon gold potato mash, sautéed broccolini, and and teriyaki barbecue sauce $44
S7301902.jpg

He LOVED it! He kept making the mmmm sounds all the way through :lmao: He let me try some and it was good, but Im glad I didnt order it. Something about the BBQ sauce I didnt like....
I ordered: (allears.net)
Grilled Pork Tenderloin with goat cheese polenta, button mushrooms and zinfandel glaze $32
S7301901.jpg

O....M....G....this was SOOOOOO GOOD. It melted in my mouth it was so good. The pork was cooked perfectly to Med, the polenta cheesey/creamy deliciousness and the sauce was out of this world. They topped it with some fried sage that paired well with the pork. This was just fantastic. Only problem was I was STUFFED already and only ate about 2/3rds of this  I was so mad I couldnt finish the whole thing! Oh well right abour now Wishes started and that made me happy to digest what I could fit in my tummy :woohoo: Wishes from our table was one of my favorite memories from thie trip . It brought tears to my eyes it was so beautiful! And our view was just perfect  thanks to DH!

After Wishes our server came out with this
S7301908.jpg

My free B-day dessert which was some super rich chocolate cake with raspberry sauce. We barely touched this because I knew I wanted the original. So I ordered it and had a few bites...
S7301909.jpg

Allears.net:The Original" - The California Grill's legendary butterscotch creme brulee with a duo of banana cakes and caramelized bananas $11

The banana cakes I didnt like....WAY too heavy. The creme brulee was delicious though, WAY better then Le Cellier IMO, only wish I could have eaten more of it!

DH ordered something to-go because he was too full. What it was I couldn't tell ya, I totally forgot to take a pic and we totally forgot it was in our fride until we were packing to leave! I felt terrible wasting a whole California Grill dessert!

Overall we loved California Grill and will definetely be back. The cuisine is simple yet delicious and the service was excellent. The only down side....we were SO full from this meal we were up all night! Next time we will definetely be splitting an entree and dessert :thumbsup2
Next up: Our last day at the parks :(

:(

DH and I had the exact same meals - and I was glad I didn't get the filet, too! You're right, the BBQ sauce was not really something I enjoyed... but that pork.... OMG and that POLENTA!!!!! MMmmmmmm and I wanted more mushrooms too!!!

CONGRATULATIONS on the big news, BTW! I just read through your report tonight and you and your DH look so sweet together, you're going to make a beautiful little happy bundle!!! :goodvibes

LOVIN your reviews!!!! Cali Grill looks awesome, now I wish I would have booked it for our upcoming trip!!

Congrats on the baby. You are going to be shocked on how different Disney is now with a little one. We went last year with DD3 and it was amazing. Seeing the disney magic through your childs eyes is what it is about. I wish you a healthy nine months and a healthy baby, you are going to be blessed.

California Grill is soooo yummy! Thanks for the pictures and review! That soup looks delicious!

Bluechic3- From what I heard it was not really all the people who get too "inebriated" at the parade but "groups" a.k.a gangs, fighting in the CVS parking lot, parks etc. It was very bad. My friend was right in front of the CVS where one of the gang fights broke out, she had her 2 young children with her and it was really bad. Luckily there were some caring people there and tried to shield all of the children from seeing it and got them out of that area asap. From what I hear the Mayor of Evergreen Park is trying to take over the parade and move it further north on Western? After the violence this year I don't know if I would even go back to it.

By the way, the pork tenderloin at California Grill was my favorite dish ever in WDW, just me and DH ate there in Dec 07 for my 40th Bday and had a great window seat. It was the best dining experience we have had in WDW. Maybe because it was adult only trip?;)

Congratualtions on getting such a wonderful table! It all looks super yummy (especially the sushi!!)

Great reviews. Loved the pictures. Congratulations on having a baby. How exciting. Thanks for posting.

Im very excited about that, I knew DH wanted kids when
A) we waited in line for Dumbo and he said "look at all the cute kids"....ya know the ones screaming and crying....
and B) He told me he wanted to be the guy carrying the princess/pirate backpack for his child LOL
California Grill is soooo yummy! Thanks for the pictures and review! That soup looks delicious!
No problem! It was YUMMMMMMY

Thats really sad about the gangs....I used to work at the Panera right over there and that's scary.
