Cast: Myself 47, DH 47, DS 15, DD10.
August 3
We were flying into Orlando on the "red eye" as DS was in Key West visiting friends for 2 weeks and we planned on meeting at the Orlando airport and we needed to arrive before him. Flights uneventful, had a connection in Atlanta and arrived in Orlando around 8:30 am. DS's plane didn't arrive until 11:30 so we hung around the airport and had breakfast and went in shops until he arrived. Stayed the first night at the Hawthorne Suites near the airport and off to the Polynesian the next morning.
Day 1
We arrived at the Poly about 7:45 am and wanted to check in and leave our luggage, knowing we wouldn't be able to get in our room that early. Next stop was the Magic Kingdom. Surprise, they had a room available now! Kids were excited to get to the park so we sent them ahead on the Monorail, told them we would meet up by cell phone when we got done. Room was in Tokelau, great location for us. We loved the Polynesian! Got unpacked and went to return the rental car and were sent on a wild goose chase by Hertz. Agent told us to return the car at the Wild World of Sports and there was no rental return there, they sent us back to Magic Kingdom and there was no Hertz there. Called Hertz and several calls later found were supposed to return in Kissimmee. Got the car returned and they took us to the TTC. Monorail to MK and met up with the kids, finally, close to noon! Had a great day there! Very similiar to Disneyland and we've been there many times. Hadn't been able to get a PS anywhere we wanted for dinner so we thought we would just show up at the California Grill and take our chances. Walked up and were seated immediately! Had a wonderful sunset dinner then back to MK for more! Did get some swimming in at the Poly before dinner.
Day 2
It was a toss up as to what parks we would have time to see and we knew we couldn't miss MK so thats why we did it first. DH really wanted to see Epcot so it won out for day 2. Got to Epcot early, went straight to Mission:Space and got a FP then went and rode Test Track. Posted 20 minute wait there but it broke down when we were nearing the front of the line so it was longer. Liked the ride and then it was time for our FP. Rode Mission:Space, don't think I would do it again, but it was ok. Went and toured the nations after that and ended with Spaceship Earth. DH and I had scheduled a couples massage at the Grand Floridian that evening so we headed back for that and kids were planning on doing room service dinner. Kids ended up going to Captain Cook's snack shop instead. DH and I went to the GF and had a wonderful massage! His first and he really wanted to schedule another! No time for that but I reminded him we had the REAS and already had one scheduled on the Wonder! Called the kids and made sure they were ok and we went to the Kona Cafe and had a great dinner! Off to watch the fireworks after dinner! Got the kids and went to the lagoon at the Poly. Found some lounge chairs and waited for the show to start. Before the fireworks started the rain started! Started out pretty light but continued to get heavier! Stayed to watch the fireworks anyway as we were right across from the castle and had a great view! Were soaked by the end, but it was worth it!
Day 3
Everyone voted for Disney-MGM Studios today, so AK lost out.
Really enjoyed MGM! I passed on TOT but rode the Rockin Roller coaster 2 times! Had lunch at the Brown Derby. Late afternoon it started to rain so we headed back to the Poly. Had no real dinner plans (couldn't get a PS at 'Ohana) and it was really starting to rain hard! Went and put our name in at 'Ohana and they told us it would be 1 hour 45 minutes for a table. We had nothing else to do as it was REALLY raining and the place was getting real crowded so we figured we would wait. Found a nice table at Tambu Bar and sat back and relaxed with a couple of Lapu Lapus. Kids went off to the shops to pass the time. Had a great dinner and then back to the room to pack. Still REALLY raining!
Character breakfast at 'Ohana in the morning then off to the Wonder!
