Hi DIS Friends!
I'm afraid I've been off the board a few days. I was pretty much "ketchup-ed" as of Wednesday night, but then I came down with a doozy of a cold. I've been barely functioning the last few days. The last couple of hours have started to be better so I am hoping it is over! Somehow, I don't think I am going to manage to read every post from the last 4 days - so I am resorting to the summaries ...
Posting Summary 35001 - 36000:
- When did you have your kids?
We were married in 1989 and DS7 (an only child) was born in 1999. I was 36 and DH was 34 when he was born.
- Do your kids invade your bedroom in the middle of the night?
Only when he has a nightmare - maybe once or twice per month. He has given up trying to wake me up and just goes to DH's side of the bed!
- What do you want done with your remains?
Crematation - DEFINITELY (Embalming is just plain gross). My Grandpa's ashes were scattered at our cabin in Wisconsin and I think all of us want the same.
- Jimmies vs. sprinkles debate.
Always been "Sprinkles" for us here in Chicago.
- Blah, blah, blah your first car.
My father gave me his International Harvester Scout (I believe it's year was 1969) when I started driving in 1981. It was litterally "built like a truck" since it was one of 500 'prototypes' they built to see if the ideas of a truck-like passenger car would have a market. It was also VERY rusty and eventually I had to tie the doors shut with string because the latches had rusted out! The first car I purchased was a 1988 Plymouth Sundance - I was being practical since I had just graduated and knew DH and I would be getting married the next year when he graduated. I really wanted a convertable (and I still do). I'm still being practical and drive a mini-van which is still a must for all our house renovation.
- Sub or Hoagie or Grinder.
Definitely "Sub"
- Tell us about your first trip to Disney & Mickey Bars.
My first trip was to WDW in January 1972 (3 months after it opened) and I had just turned 7. Clearly, this early experience lead to my lifelong Disney madness
DH's first trip was to WDW in 1989 as part of our Honeymoon. He was very grudging about going there since he "didn't like amusement parks" and felt that Disney was "just for kids". It took less than 1 day to convert him! He isn't quite the fanatic I am (after all he was 21 before his 1st exposure!) but he certainly enjoys visiting the mouse. DS7's first visit to WDW was at 6 weeks old and just about every 6 months since then. He is even more into Disney than I am - which just proves my point about early exposure!
Posting Summary 36001 - 37000:
- The captain and fellow swabbies exchange makeup secrets.
Huh? I guess I'll have to go back and read that part!
.
.
- Walk down memory lane with cancelled soaps.
Nope - never watched any ... unless you count a very old sitcom called "Soap". I watched that pretty regularly once-upon-a-time. In general, I'm not much of a TV watcher and rarely watch continuing type stuff. Occasionally I watch stuff like MythBusters or tonights "Sand Blasters" with DS.
Posting Summary 37001 - 38000:
- Blah, blah, blah DVC point discussion.
We looked at DVC way back at the beginning and it didn't seem to make sense for us and we couldn't have afforded the downpayment then anyway. Never really looked at it again, but good friends just joined so we may look now. Of course with the TOAL to pay for, we probably can't afford the downpayment now either!
- Blah, blah, blah early vs. late dining.
We've always had late dining on our other cruises and really liked it - but we also really like meeting and dining with other DISers and since it looks like Captain's dining is going to be a big group, we're going to give it a try. We are pretty flexible (at home we eat anytime from 5pm to 8pm) so its not a big deal. In the past DS7 has only joined us for dinner 5 times out of 3 seven night cruises - so which seating we have doesn't effect him too much. If there are other kids at dinner, he might deign to gift us with his presense rather than go to the club
-
Crocs again...
Yup - I still love them! Wore a pair all day today like they were slippers. The Mickey Crocs haven't arrived yet, but have supposedly been shipped ...
- Blah, blah, blah beer talk.
Not much to say here - I've never liked the taste, so it wasn't a big deal when I found out I couldn't drink it!
Posting Summary 38001 - 39000:
- Blah, blah, blah really gross stuff!
- Blah, blah, blah they totally lost control today!
Maybe I won't even try to ketchup with this ... then again, it might be fun!
I'm all alone at the office tomorrow - if I still have this stupid cold, maybe I'll just get the necessary work done and then DIS the rest of the day! (I should be continuing the musical computers - I've finished setting up 1 new one and rebuilding 1 old one, so I still have 1 more new one and one more rebuild to go ...)
