Good evening all. I haven't been around much today -- every time I came over to try to post, something came up at work and I had to abort. I found out I have to fly to the UK on Sunday for a week, so I've got a pile of sh^H^H stuff to get done at work and at home, but I've set aside a little time to try to

, so here I go.

Ok all - went and did some FYI exploration. For those staying at HOJO next year - took some pictures and as soon as I can find where the dang program put them I'll upload - most likely later this evening. However, did find out some info for you:

1. - I'm impressed - clean and tucked away into a corner - borders the freeway but still decent and somewhat more quieter than the other hotels right across.
2. - There is a Mimi's Cafe and a KFC within a 1-minute walk :lmao: actually its right across the street it'll take you 30 seconds.
3. - McDee's is within 3 minutes, there's also a Millie's restaurant on the other side of KFC.
4. - NOTE: Your view of DL will be blocked unless your on the high floor of building 1.
5. - Talked with some hotel guests in pool #2 AKA Garden Pool - rooms have 2 queen beds and they had 3 small boys - said they had a cot brought in and it was sufficient for them.
6. - Bldg 2 (4 stories) is the one by the Garden Pool and is tucked the furthest away from the front - however, the back borders a fwy which does have a sound wall - plus side - no noisy traffice behind you.
7. - Bldg's 6, 5, 4, 3 are low buildings 2 stories - sorry had a :headache: moment on that one. Building 1 (7 stories) is the high tower.
8. - 2 Pools - front one is within sight of the Monorail track and closest to Harbour Blvd.
9. - SMALL fountain in the middle of a courtyard
10. - OH Yeah - has a wading pool for the young'uns.
11. - Front desk has 2 free internet site ( which I took a picture of will post later)
12. - Arcade room - small but decent - directly across from the gift shop in bldg 1 - sorry forgot to check hours
13. - Laundry rooms are located in Bldg # on 1st floor, Bldg 1 in basement, there is a soda vending machine and ice machine on each floor at the end of the bldgs
14. - parking MAY be a problem during summer since its tucked away into a triangle part but I'm sure there's plenty.
15. - Front desk is small but easily accessible even to wheelchairs.
16. - Pool has outside shower and men's and women's bathroom next to wading pool - I took a picture will upload later.

Let's see - bldge 6 and 5 seem to under renovation so you'll all have some comfy sheets and new painted walls - couldn't get a decent picture of the size of the rooms but they looked decent - nothing too spacious but the grounds looked very clean and the people at the front desk were very friendly and helpful. I just went up to them and explained I was doing some research for a 'couple' of friends of mine and they let me on the grounds. Was considering asking them to let me view a room but thought that I might be pushing my luck that way.

OK - will post pictures later - let me know if you all have any questions.

Oh Yeah - the most important of all - you are litereally across the street but your view of DL will be obstructed. You MUST cross in a marked pedestrian walkway as Harbour is EXTREMELY DANGEROUS to cross jay walking - this will add maybe 5-8 minutes depending on the speed of your walk. Crosswalk is up the street a bit.

Ooops - more info I forgot: CVS/Sav-On drug store, Vons Grocery Store within 1 mile - Post Office also within driving distance. An ATM is located at the McDee's 2 minutes away. Convention center about 10 minutes away - actually you might be able to see the top of it - it borders DL. AMC Movie theatres at Downtown Disney Western Medical not too far if anyone need medical attn.

Check Cashing at front desk - Traveler's check up to $100 per day per room and subject to availability of funds. Personal checks not accepted.

BTW, pool temp is 80 degrees - spa is 102.
Taxi's service area and have a separate number for that. However, there is a city run shuttle service that runs every 20 minutes - can get in in the hotel parking area - there is a space for them. The charge is $3.00 per adult over the age of 10 - IOW kids 10 and under are free - bus runs 1/2 hr before parks open up to 1/2 hr after parks close.

OK - that's all I can think of now - later - ask ?'s if you want.

Thanks for getting all this info!

The New York Yankees play the Atlanta Braves at WDW tomorrow afternoon at the Wide World of Sports.

is their a DL shuttle from hotel?

thanx for getting info!

chrissie

Hi Chrissie - no hotel shuttle bus but according to the front desk there is a city run shuttle bus that hits the hotels. It runs every 20 minutes and costs $3.00 PER DAY for 11+ - free for kids under 10.

Also, wasn't there while I was there but did notice the parking spot which is directly in front of the check-in/front area - easily accessible.

WARNING: I have been at DL when the parks close and if you all buy a lot of stuff - it might be better to walk across the street toting as this bus gets sardine packed at night. I often saw these busses - easily recognizeable as they have the DL logo on them. If you have ever parked far away at WDW then its like parking in the middle and then walking to the park. Not a bad walk but if you've been at the park all day - might tire you out.

I had a wicked nightmare a year an a half ago that partly came true. About 2 months before my first big solo trip to WDW. Totally freaked me out wicked!!

It was a hot summer night and I had one of those oh so real dreams that you can’t believe it wasn’t really real. Anyway, it was about my cat Peepers. My dream was that I came home to find her limping around with her right rear hip poking out through her skin and she wouldn’t let look at it or let the vet take care of her and it was just a mess. I woke up with a start and she was just staring at me. Quickly, I checked her over carefully and thankfully it was just a dream.

Then about a month later, Peepers, who is allergic to fleas, thought she was Houdini, and snuck out. It wasn't a big deal as she had been out before and several times that week. So, after being gone most of the afternoon, I came home to find her laying on the front step. She NEVER does that. As I walked up the driveway, she stood up and STARTED LIMPING!! Aaaaaaaaack – I thought my dream was coming true! Same paw, same limp I saw in my dream! Thankfully, her hip wasn’t really sticking out of her skin or I really would have really lost it!

Quickly, I called the Animal ER to get directions, get her into her carrier, and my dad drives us up to Portland. Forty-five minutes in the waiting room. Forty-five minutes in the exam room. Then a mere five minute examination by the vet. Her paw is lacerated next to the pad, she’ll need stitches and she’ll have to be sedated. They could've kept her overnight or we can come back in two hours. It’s 9:45pm... maybe we’ll leave her overnight. That was before I saw the estimate - $485, or $385 if we went back and got her. We went back and got her. Went out for a late dinner, they fixed her up and my vacation fund, decreased by $385!

I've had some pretty nasty nightmares and some funny dreams, but that one that nearly came true was one of the worst!

Thank you for doing all the wonderful leg work. Booking a room at a hotel you've never been to before can be a bit scary:eek: Nice to know that it isn't a real "Dive".
