Good evening good afternoon hope everyone is safe and well and no one was effected by the traggic tornados to hit USA.

We weren't effected by the storms. We had some really bad ones not too far from St. Louis, (a little 7 year old boy here in MO died because he was in a mobile home, and his father had no place safe to take him. :guilty: :sad1: :sad2: )
but all we ended up getting here in St. Louis were some really strong winds. Nothing too serious here, just some tree limbs down in areas around here. (Nothing at all like what Andy has!! )

Thanks for your concern, Andrew!

There were green aligators, and long necked geese...

humpty backed camels and some chimpanzees
rats and cats and elephants but sure as you're born
The loveliest of all was the unicorn...

Oh my! The Irish Rovers... just flashed back to Saturday evenings as a kid. The family would go grocery shopping and we'd bring home a pizza from the deli section to bake and watch the Irish Rovers and Hee Haw.

With all the talk about tornados, it reminded of two incidents that happened around here. The first one was I guess 12-15 years ago - there was a tornado that came through Newburgh and destroyed part of a school while it was in session. If I remember correctly there were some deaths. Afterwards people in the area wanted all buildings to be strong enough to withstand a tornado or earthquake.

The second one was about 10 years ago - we had tornado warnings in the area and DH was working. It was around 10 at night and I was watching tv while DS was sleeping. DH called me frantic because a tornado had been spotted and was heading in our direction - told me to get Joe, the dogs and his parents and get to the basement and stay there until he called. So I grab Joe, leash the dogs and make my way down to my in-laws apartment where I find them sitting on their front porch watching to storm. So I tell them that a tornado is heading in our direction and my MIL turns to me and says "We know - we're going to sit here and watch it":scared1:. After too much wasted time trying to explain to them that they had to GET TO THE BASEMENT NOW (finally yelling at them at the top of my lungs) they finally came down there. We were lucky, the thing disapated before it got close to us and didn't do much property damage - mostly a few downed trees. MIL complained to DH that I didn't show them enough respect that night because I yelled at them - DH told her that she was lucky I had as much respect for as I did and didn't just leave them sitting there.

I had a 45 of that record and wore a hole in it because I played it so much.

Happy Birthday Karen!!!
:grouphug: Thanks a bunch! I really needed that! It's been a rough day. Just found out my DDad is in the ER in Hackensack...complications from a prostate biopsy he had done on Monday. Four trips back to the doc since and now they're talking about admitting him.:sad2:

Yes - unfortunate about the old part but I guess it's better to be on this side of the grass.
DHs says every day is a good one when you wake up and there is no tag on your toe! (Can you tell he was in the Army for 21 years?) :rotfl2:

I love this pic ...but man the costume is missing soooooo many details
pirate:
I know, I know....it's all in the details!:rotfl2:

Karen - Happy Birthday - even if you aren't a leo... that cake looks wonderful!

I really wish I had some cake. Perhaps it will stop snowing/sleeting/raining/yuckying long enough that my family can take my mother out for dinner tonight for her birthday and we can have cake!

Unfortunately 9 in Georgia and 10 in Alabama died as well. :sad1: :sad1: :sad1:

Just got off the phone with my homeowner's insurance company, they will be sending someone out to check out my claim. Here is a pic of the tree that crashed this morning. I talked to my other neighbor and he has already called a tree service to come out and remove the tree. Luckily, no one was injured!!!

I've got to get back to work as soon as I fix myself a protien shake.

Will have to ketchup later

Wow, Andy -- what a picture! Thank goodness it didn't destroy your house or hurt anyone!

Cake does sound good. But I'm really really craving those yummy peanut butter chip brownies I made a while back...MMMMmmmmmm....

Do you get any kind of notice for them? I figure someone is tracking changes & they have that they can predict them in the movies. Any truth to that? I prefer hurricanes since you have plenty of warning.

Nope, no warning at all.....all the scientists can tell us is that there will be a "big one" within the next 20 years.....well, gee I could have told ya that. They do know where the fault lines are, so they know which areas of the state could have quakes, but no way to tell that anything is coming. By the time the monitors detect it, we're feeling it.

Hey Diane, I've felt one out here in Western, MA :rolleyes1 Just sayin' ;) :rotfl2:

There actually are some minor earthquakes here in the Northeast . . . one woke me up a month or so after 9/11 and I thought there had been another terrorist attack. Nothing like the real ones in California, of course. Of course the deadliest earthquake in the US happened in Missouri, I believe, quite a long time ago.
