WOW! We have already decided that if it's a boy, we do not want circumcision. I wasn't aware that some hospitals just do it! :scared1:

And that bit about the nurses taking notes?!?! That's a little creepy!

I do know that our state will not let you step foot out of a hospital with a baby until you prove that you have an infant seat, properly installed.

Thanks for all of the information! :thumbsup2
Some of this stuff is just mind-blowing!! (Just when you think you're prepared to become a parent!!!) :lmao:

I don't want to start an endless debate over cut vs. uncut but when DW's cousin mentioned to her doc that our DS wasn't cut the doc was revulsed! He said he wasn't aware that ANY civilized hospital in these United States "would not perform such a basic, standard and necessary procedure" and that obviously DS was born in some hick town!

***!?!

I wasn't aware that Oklahoma City was the Third World! And this from a doc in the "Alabama" part of PA!!!

You know the joke...

Pennsylvania can best be described as Pittsburg on the left, Philadelphia on the right and Alabama in between! :rotfl2:

Anyway, yes, you'll have to interject yourself as much as possible into the process because sometimes they just blindly go about their business.

Another point, although it's too late to claim you little tax deduction ;) you cannot apply for a SSN for the child until you're finalized. You can apply for an ATIN (Adoption Taxpayer ID Number) which is issued by IRS not SSA and is valid for 2 years. That lets you claim Dchild-to-be on your taxes. Well, that's assuming you want to claim the deduction. If you don't plan on doing so then you don't need to apply for anything. Depending on the hospital, they may try to submit an application as a matter of standard business but that should not happen in your case. (Although the birthmom can apply for a SSN for the baby, it's moot because that number won't be used after finalization). Problem is getting some hospital clerks to back off this because they are under the (mistaken) impression that everyone is required to have a SSN. :sad2:

Yeah, the nurse thing is creepy and we didn't know about it until we got copies of DS' records when we left the hospital! We were at TGI Friday's (yeah, he was 4 days old and already on the go :rolleyes1) and I was looking over the paperwork and there were the notes in his nursery-care file!! :scared: Good thing we were really relaxed and laid-back!

If there's one thing I learned from being a new parent it's this: DO WHAT YOU FEEL IS BEST/RIGHT!! Because let me tell you, you'll get PLENTY of advice (like now ) whether you've asked for it and ESPECIALLY if you haven't!!!! Can't tell you the number of times DW was at Babies R Us and told that xyz product isn't good or challenged as to why she was spending all that money on the Mustella products when J&J is just as good (yeah, if you want to rip baby's scalp apart!) etc. Or me getting it from my mom when she found out that DS wasn't circ'ed. Or when you're out and about (because if you're in a hotel without a restaurant, you gotta eat) then people will tsk tsk tsk over you having the baby covered up/not covered enough, or wearing cradle shoes/not wearing shoes, or bottle feeding/brest feeding. And if the baby has lots of hair, then plan on total strangers fondling baby's head or stroking it like a freakin' puppy!

oops....did I vent too much? :flower3:

LOL! Well, your DH didn't want the kids to get thirsty and I never found out why you were stopped at the terminal. ;)

Oh yeah! How could I forget. I don't like to fly, and my niece was moving back to GA so I drove down and helped her, then proceeded onto FL. I was picking up DH and the girls from the airport. Well, they missed the plane because DH had decided the girls might get thirsty while flying and packed a whole case of juiceboxs in the carry on. Of course this was during the ban on liquids. :headache: They were all pulled aside and their stuff was searched and they missed the flight by about 5 minutes. He swears to me that they got there in plenty of time, but the lines were very long also. They almost missed the next flight because they forgot to reissue on of the tickets. Luckily we got there on Friday night.:rolleyes1

[J. R.] Okay, campers, rise and shine, and don't forget your booties because it's coooold out there today.
[Judy] It's coooold out there every day. What do you think this is, Castaway Cay?

[J. R.] There's another reason why today is especially exciting.
[Judy] Especially cold!
[J. R.] Yes, especially cold, okay, but the big question on everybody's lips
[Judy] On their chapped lips
[J. R.] Right, on their chapped lips. Do you think anyone is going to talk about these topics today?
[Judy] That's right woodchuck-chuckers, it's...
[All] GROUNDHOG POST!

SO:
  • Did anyone get a room assignment from DCL today?
  • Lisa, did we tell you we really miss the website?
  • Cake. Yum, cake. With frosting. And whipped cream?
  • What size crocs should I buy? Are they comfortable? Boy, are they ugly.
  • blah, blah, blah N.R. (with swords)
  • Where are we going to be able to buy our lime green DIS T-****s for the cruise, Captain
  • The Tag Fairy doesn't like me. She likes me. I got tagged! It's like Christmas in February!
  • Did anyone get moved off WLE dining to Captain's dining?
  • Duct tape.
  • Who's going to win on that science-fiction show "AI"?

:lmao:
Well, TG for this post because I completely forgot to check my ressie on the DCL website today (that's what I get for working from home for the day).

Yeah, I think the proper abbreviation is "TAR".
It's Amazing Race...:lmao:
Sorry for the confusion...

oops....did I vent too much? :flower3:
:rolleyes1 :rolleyes1
It is amazing how people are like that though. I remember getting all kinds of unwanted advice from complete strangers when I would have DS out and about.

OK, folks! Time for the commute home, during which I decide what's for dinner...I'm thinkin I don't want to cook tonight...
See ya later!

Ohhh...my closet isn't even on my to-do list. That would be scary. The kitchen cabinets are about as brave as I'm willing to get for the moment!

I should do my kitchen pantry but that would take me days.

We're in the process of cleaning out the attic this week. If I find it I'll get it onto the thread. If not I'll call my friends in Vienna to see if they have a copy.

OMG - it would take me weeks to clean out our attic. I promised Pete that I would work on it this winter and haven't done so yet...gee, I wonder what could of distracted me:rolleyes1.

Reminds me of one of my favorite pictures from our last cruise. It is not the best photo of any of us, but

LOOK! BAKED ALASKANS!
bakedalaskans.jpg

Great pic of you guys - my DH has the same shirt as you DH, wore it on our last cruise too!

Helloooooo Everyone and Happy Monday! UGH!

Hope everyone has a wonderful day. Just wanted to pop in and say HI before I ketchup!

See you in a little bit!

I'm in a funk. I think I have a case of DDCLF, Dreaded DCL Fever.

I'm sitting in my office overlooking the grey dank parking. There absolutely no color except for who ever is driving the electric blue Toyota. It's cold both outside and in my office and the trees look like leafless popsicles. I have a ton of work to get through but all I want to do is look at the DCL picture of the day or my own that I have loaded. To add insult to injury my iPod will play the ship's whistle every now and then between the entire collection of Buffett that I have loaded on it. What is a poor girls to do?:confused3 :confused3

What's the cure gang??????

Oh, I'm so there with you! Unfortuntely the cure for me would be a DCL cruise, but DH has forbidden me from even thinking about taking any kind of vacation before this cruise. I haven't told him yet but I'm staying an extra day at WDW after my company convention in May. I'm thinking of getting a one day ticket and going to Epcot.

Greetings from the Magic!

I couldn't stay away! Gotta type fast only 86 mins left. Just got out of the CC get together. Tom Waller? was there. 2 new ships in 2011 & 2012! Will be built at ship yard in Germany. He said that there is alot of speculation on the DIS Boards! Bigger, more tonnage, hold 4,000 people. New design, 2 decks taller and combine Mickey and Goofy pools into one big family pool. I don't know if this is somthing that has been posted before, but if it's new I wanted you guys to be the first to know!

I am having CJ thread withdrawls, but we are having a great time. Too much to ketchup on! Gotta go, there is a deck chair on deck 4 with my name on it!

Have a great rest of your trip!

HAPPY MONDAY, everyon!!!

We've been so busy lately!!

We got the mural that we ordered for the nursery/child room!
We have all textured plaster walls in our flat (historic building in South St. Louis  ), and the mural is basically a set of wallpaper panels, so we're having to prep the wall in order to get it to take the walpaper. We got all of the supplies this weekend, and hopefully by this time next week, I will post pics of the mural!! :thumbsup2

I have done my best to skim and read summaries, but I will probably have to just keep up from here on out rather than get completely "ketchup"-ed.

I can't wait to see the before and after pic's!
