I've heard mention of the ship being "stretched". What exactly does that mean? I don't get it...
When the ship is in drydock, they "cut it in half" and add more to it.

Thanks so much to my new best friend  Julie for the offer of the shirts!!!
 :cloud9:

:sad1: I've lost my position!:sad1:

DD is still in grade school. :rolleyes1 The Trip of a Lifetime will probably be the last time I pull her. She'll be missing the first 4 days of 4th grade for it, but I know the teachers well and they have assured me it won't be a problem. I can understand not doing it in MS or HS.

We took DS out of MS this last trip but it will probably be the last time we do so. Which means a cut into how many Mickey trips we can take. Now DH is eligible to retire in March of 09 and if he does there is a good possibility of us moving to Florida (which he doens't know about yet) which is where we want to retire to.

Wow Mark so proper!

You must have had a good day? How much snow did you get? I got the end of your storm!

Chrissie

LOL.........trying to keep a positive attitude.........

We got mostly freezing rain...........meaning ICE !!! :scared1:

Only got about an inch of snow...............coulda been much, much worse......

Our DD (12) is adopted from Korea. We were told in July that she had been born and then had to wait 6 months for all of the paperwork to go thru. They told us they would give us a few weeks notice before her arrival. In the end, they called on a Monday and said she will be in the US on Thursday - not much time to do final preparations, but at that point, oh well. She has been a great addition to our family, as I am sure your child will be. Good Luck.

Someday, I want to see pictures from back then!

Since we're adopting through the state, we should be notified a little more in advance than that. There will be a 6 month period before our adoption becomes final too, but fortunately we will have the child with us for that 6 months. We have friends who adopted from Guatemala, and I can remember the 6 month wait and how difficult it was for them. I remember them saying how they had pictures of their baby, but they couldn't hold him or care for him. I can imagine that it's really difficult to know there's a child who is yours, but you can't have him or her yet. :sad2:

I was just thinking the same thing.....the wait would be horrible!

Me Tooo :yay: Me Tooo:yay: Can I come ??????????????? LOL

Mark

Yes. As soon as we know for sure that we have a placement, we have agreed that we will both take our max vacation time for this year all at once. For me, that is 3 weeks. So we're hoping to take one week all of us together, then we'll each get to take seperate time (that way we get some good family time, but it will also allow each of us some one-on-one to have time to bond with the child seperately.)

It's a really exciting time in our household these days! It's sort of like being in the last trimester of pregnancy! We're just in that waiting/preparing stage!!

How thrilling!!!! I am very excited for you guys!

What an afternoon! The kids came home & of course there was drama. DD sat on the curb on the main road to eat her snack. I got her to go play with friends for a little bit and when we were leaving to come home the new people across the street pulled up. She ran over to meet their little girl...she has been the only girl on the street her age...one 2 years younger & one baby. It turned out to be someone who I know thru PTO. We sat around talking while the girls played out front. DD is so happy that she is there & we also found out that another girl her age moved in at the other end of the street this afternoon. We know that family from soccer. I also found out that the 14 yo boy who hangs out with the other kids 6-8 is moving soon. :yay: :yay: :yay: He is not the best to influence them & DS is not allowed to play outside when he is out there. I like how the neighborhood is changing. :)

Me too, although looking at the prices for other lines' Alaska cruises, my sons had better either be too dumb to go to college or smart enough to get a scholarship if I have any hope of cruising again.

I've already told DS he better plan on getting a scholarship or two, or go to a state school (which isn't really bad but when your 12 it sounds horrible!).

I got hooked on those too. Loved the first 3 in the series but never really cared for the rest. I was in High School when they came out and I didn't dare let my folkes know what I was reading...they'd filp!

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: My mother sent them to me for my bday in college. :lmao: She had NO idea what they were about...just that I liked the first one.

Chrissie..........we must have been just far enough south to miss the snow.....Not That Michigan is south in my mind by anymeans.........LOL

Hey all - just noticed on the travel channel next saturday 6-7pm I think) is a Top 10 Beaches special - Mexican Riveria Beaches, Cabo San Lucas, Acapulco and Puerto Vallarta beaches will be featured. Enjoy!

And if the baby has lots of hair, then plan on total strangers fondling baby's head or stroking it like a freakin' puppy!

oops....did I vent too much? :flower3:

A not-so-funny story. When DD#2 was tiny, we went out to dinner one night and she was wearing one of those itty bitty headbands. Some woman came to our table and said "Oh, what a pretty little baby" but then she looped her finger under the elastic headband, snapped it back, and said "But why do people like you insist on putting these on their heads"!!!
DH had to hold me back. It was about to become MOMMY SMACKDOWN!

Hi Mark!

Relaxing here after a loooonnnngggg day at work.

Mary

How come a day at work is 598 hours............But a day on the Magic is 2.4 hours...........never have been able to figure that out

Good for you! Why would a 14 year old want to hang around 6 - 8 years old:confused3 .

We had a neighbor across the street who used to hang out with my DD when she was about 5. I had him over 1 time and 1 time only. I don't understand if the parents never taught him but when he came over (he was 7) he went through my kitchen cabinets and opened my refrigerator looking for food. Then he put his dirty sneakers on my couch. He moved soon after that :).
