There actually are some minor earthquakes here in the Northeast . . . one woke me up a month or so after 9/11 and I thought there had been another terrorist attack. Nothing like the real ones in California, of course. Of course the deadliest earthquake in the US happened in Missouri, I believe, quite a long time ago.

Correction to myself -- the New Madrid, Missouri, earthquake of 1811 was the strongest earthquake ever in the US, but not the deadliest, since it was sparsely populated at that time.

I am glad its the weekend here now long weekend to rest after a long week.

Pooring with rain here now after a very sunny and nice day.

We've gotten Dream FP 2x in the morning, around 10am while walking into the castle. Usually the CMs are trying to move people along, but you can still walk up to them.

The big prize is a stay in the Mickey Suite at DLH. They're also giving out giftcards, merchandise and tickets.

Here comes that little kid in me again    Going to keep my fingers crossed that maybe, just maybe, we get to do something special. But....since it's been a year since I've been to the parks, just GOING is special!!!

If you happen to hear about a 40 something woman chasing the Dream Team and getting tossed out of the parks........well, you can say you knew her!;)

:grouphug: Thanks a bunch! I really needed that! It's been a rough day. Just found out my DDad is in the ER in Hackensack...complications from a prostate biopsy he had done on Monday. Four trips back to the doc since and now they're talking about admitting him.:sad2:

Here's to your DDad getting better quick!:grouphug: :grouphug:

Karen - Happy Birthday - even if you aren't a leo... that cake looks wonderful!

I really wish I had some cake. Perhaps it will stop snowing/sleeting/raining/yuckying long enough that my family can take my mother out for dinner tonight for her birthday and we can have cake!

Did someone say cake?

Here's another pic of the neighbor's house behind mine. They "did" have a canopy off the back of their house, it is destroyed as well as their privacy fence. Looks like we have some cleaning up to do this weekend. It got up to near 60* here today. After all the rain earlier, the sun is now shining bright.

That "was/is" my chainlink fence!!! If the tree had fallen towards our house, it would have landed on Angelina's bedroom roof. :scared1:

Since Hazel is away, I have to go pick up Angelina from school, I can't wait to see what she has to say when she sees the mess in our backyard.

I remember seeing the photos from SoCal DISers who came to greet the Magic when she pulled into town so we were wondering if there's a visitor's area or a viewing gallery or some such thing at the San Pedro port?

DMom isn't going to be happy that we're going to spend the night before departure at a port-area hotel rather than with her. So, in an effort to appease her, I mentioned the prospect that they could stay at the hotel with us and they could see us off from the port.

Karen....lots of prayer and pixie dust for your dad!! :wizard: Went through all that with my Dad a few years ago, and then followed up with some more surgery this past year. He's doing great though....so I will hope for the same for your dad.

DH is flying back from Seattle today & he called me as he was getting on the plane. Guess what????? Here's the plane he was getting on!

Here's my last posting before I hit the road...

Now here's a sight truly to behold!

Niarga in the Winter...

canadian7.jpg

Having lived my ENTIRE life in SOCal I have seen very little snow - or tru winter weather. And having my spouse's mother be from Hawaii - this makes for a number of "winter holidays" in Hawaii. Some might think... ohhh, poor Tom"... but really it does wear thin after 20+ years. Folks on Hawaii get "island fever" where they get a huge bite from the travel-lust bug.

OK... I'd write more but I gotta run!

I will agree with you it's a pretty site but beware if you come to buffalo in the winter time you could just get stuck in a storm.:lmao:

OK, this is completely OT from anything being discussed here today...but I have a bit of a dilemma...

Last week, we found that we can get a MUCH better deal through Dish Network than what we have now through DirectTV (We currently only have a 1 room DVR with 20 hours of recording space...I know...dark ages :sad2: ) So we're getting a 2 room DVR with MUCH more recording space, plus one extra receiver for just a little more than what we're paying for Direct TV.

Well, all week I've known that the guy is coming to switch them out tomorrow...And I knew that I was going to have to catch up on all of my TiVo'ed shows...Well, I'm going to have to lose almost the whole season of House and ER!!! :scared1:

I don't know what I was thinking!! I won't be able to watch them tonight because I'm taking my Grandma to Macy's. I'm just going to have to lose it all...:sad1: :sad1: :sad1:

OH well, there are more important things in life than TV shows...aren't there?!?!? :rolleyes1

Too cool! Now just maybe I could get on THAT plane!?!?! :rolleyes1

Since everyone seemed to enjoy old Disney pictures yesterday, I thought I would drag out my first experience with Small World. No it was not in California or Florida but New York. Here are a couple of pictures from the 1964 Worlds Fair that produced Small World, Carousel of Progress and the Grand Canyon Dinosaur portion of the railroad.

This is so cool, I've never seen pictures of the original

Great pics & Great year. Just so happens to be the year I was born. :)

That picture is priceless!!
That could be one of the words used to describe it. Notice all of our hair in the pic. I would say it was a little windy that day.:rotfl2:

I'm the one who was abused as a child and made to endure NF after a week at WDW.

Great view but what was Dad thinking???? My Mom has a bunch from that trip. I'll have to see if I can find them. I'm watching my nephew over the weekend. I'll have to put a bug in is ear and have him ask his Father (my Brother) to take him to Niagara Falls. Bad Aunt Kathy.........:rolleyes1

Exactly my thoughts. No excuse for Dad...........maybe it's one of the reasons why we don't talk today.:confused3

*GASP!!!*
OMG!!! Seriously!?!?!?!
That is SO cool!!!

I think I would get a bit teary-eyed if I stepped foot on a plane that was decorated like that!!

I just can't get over how COOL that is!! LOL

::SIGH:: :guilty:

Why does booking a Vegas vacation have to be so complicated! I'm trying to think of any other city on the planet where the goal is to weasel out of a hotel room fee! DParents' birthdays are in 3 weeks and we figured it would be easier to go to Vegas to see them rather than rushing the unpacking and getting the house in order. Besides, they'll be out in June for DS' birthday.

I tell DM this and she's as excited as can be. Dad wasn't in and, of course, she fell asleep and didn't tell him. So when I call to go over trip details, suddenly he puts the kibosh on everything because he wants to see what his casino host can do! :sad2: The nice thing about the new Harrah's Empire is that we now have a choice of Harrah's, Rio, Paris etc. I wasn't too impressed with the Harrah's rooms and would prefer Paris (or the new section of Ceasar's ;)) although if they are going to be significantly cheaper than the Westin, then I'll take anything

So now I'm in a holding pattern because I can't get the air tix until he figures out which of the many offers for slot tourneys and poker contests they'll be able to use AND if he can extend his coverage to an extra room for us...

Give me a good ol' straight-forward, easy-to-planb DIsney cruise vacation to plan any day! :rotfl:
