I've been reading the posts about AI TPC .. The way I sing, Can I be the female William Hung!!! That's about the best I can hope to live up to. :rolleyes1

PS ... To those West Coasters who haven't seen AI yet ... You are in for a real treat. I just wish I could vote :sad2:

You can't vote? Because you are in Canada? :confused3 That doesn't seem fair!

I didn't save the quotes because they were way too emotional, but I loved reading everyone's stories about their "miracle" children. Even the miracles who have gone on to brighter and better places.

As I mentioned before, I work as a pharmacist in a pediatric intensive care unit. (I do what Roger does - only for children instead.) And we have a NICU next door as well as a very specialized surgical cardiac intensive care unit. Did I mention this is a free-standing children's hospital so they're all less than 21 years old? We're a very busy place - referral center for most of GA and some surrounding areas depending on the diagnosis.

Anyway, I really do love my job, but it can be depressing and challenging sometimes so it is so nice to hear the family sides of the stories. The "what happened after they went home?" Sometimes they come back to visit, but mostly we're left to wonder. So thanks again for showing me another reason why I do what I do! :goodvibes

Good night all...hope I don't find another 40 pages of postings in the morning!:rotfl:

It must be so rewarding to help people in that way. Love your picture!

Yes, I see your point there about your son, Angelina is on the other scale, so to speak, she is one of the shortest girls in her class and has tiny feet, which makes her mad because we had to go into a children's shoe store to get her a pair of Uggs for Christmas. I think she wears like a size 3 shoe.

Andy,

Tell Angelina that short and tiny is not the worst thing to be. It may not be that obvious from the picture because my entire family is short, but I'm only 4'10". And I had to buy my Disney Crocs in the kids department too (and I'm a little older than Angelina:sad2: ). But it can come in handy - those kids' crocs were $5 cheaper than the adult ones. And my Birkenstocks were about $20-25 cheaper than the adult ones!

She may not appreciate that now, but she will when she starts paying the bills! :thumbsup2

I like it when she tells them they have great shoes.....:lmao: :lmao:

:lmao: :lmao:
That was an ongoing joke with my HS dance team. We learned at dance camp that we were supposed to add a compliment when crtitiquing eachother. So we started every slam with "I really like your shoes. . ." and you kick like my grandmother, you have the grace of a goat, etc.

The best part?? We all had the same shoes.

I crack up every time Paula says that. I wonder if she learned that line at dance camp???

Wow!! I wonder who I can bribe to get on this cruise!! I tried to book it and it's full (of course). *bangs head into wall*

I will get on this ship!! *throws on her 007 gear*

Hello all.

I would get in touch with a TA who is a DCL specialist and is online. DCL isn't releasing rooms back into inventory because the TAs are filling the cancelled rooms with people on their own waitlists.

Not that I wouldn't recommend getting in touch with a TA, but I would keep checking the website on your own. If you look back to page 1275 you'll see my "miracle" message announcing that I got a cabin on 2/12! So apparently DCL released at least one room back into inventory after the sell-out. So it's always possible they could do it again.

Here's sending you some pixie dust that it will happen again!!

I'm beginning to think I'll be tall on this cruise! You are like the 5th person to post that they are under 5'. I can't remember exactly who, but there was a pre-booking conversation about mass drownings if we had water aerobics in the adult pool.

I'm 5'2". I actually get uncomfortable when I am the tallest person in a group of adults. It happens so seldom.

Hey Pot, how tall are ya?

I love the shoe thing. All of my gender-neutral shoes (hiking boots, snow boots, hockey skates, etc.) come from the little boy's dept., usually at about a 40% savings.

Thank you!! Yes I just added them. I finally figured out how to make a photo small enough to fit in my signature. I think having a tag has made me smarter!

Wow Mary, when did this happen!! This morning you put that up on your own and then removed it. Now TG has granted your wish. Congrats. :cool1: :cool1:

Now I have tag envy.. :sad1:

Judy,
It never came up before, but when I find someone who knows the er I know i found a kindred spirit. Pavulon anyone?

I don't know our whole ER, but I know our trauma room well because an ICU pharmacist responds to all traumas and codes. And we're really Roc people - is that just a peds thing?

I've intubated for less just to keep the ed quiet at night.

Okay, this sounds like our nurses and the way they want to handle crying babies. :rotfl: Well, either that or versed. Or fentanyl. Or chloral. Or . . .

OMG we would laugh over the most non funny situations......It really seems cruel to anyone you tell but it is truly a coping mechanism.....You just have to keep your sense of humor or you crack......especially when dealing with all the heartbreaking things like SIDS, suicides, arrests, ......

Oh, yeah, we tell ourselves all the time that we're going to end up going to h**l for some of the things we end up saying - but as long as we know our chaplain is going to be driving the bus on the way down it's okay!! :lmao:

I'm not quite 5'2"! I guess I'm in good company! :thumbsup2

Greetings Kimberly. Glad to see that there is another pharmacist on this cruise. We also have a PICU, small 7 bed unit but we have seen a lot of stuff over the years. We also have a 25 bed NICU unit that is usually always full. We do everything for the kids except heart surgery. We usually ship them off to UCLA or Cedars for that. I have spent my fair share of time developing both units and their specialized needs over the years. We have a medium sized hospital that specializes in everything except for transplants and pediatic cardiac surgery. Most of our staff of 2000 MD's are on staff or teach at UCLA or USC therefore we do all of the things that a Big hospital does. I have my ups and down with pharmacy over the years with most of my dissatisfaction relating to administration. Hope to swap stories over the next 18 months.

There will be another stupid NC BBgame on tonight instead of Lost.

I'm assuming that the stupid part is the NC State part. Right, Lisa? Right? Oh, where's Brack when I need him? :sad2:

It was a great game though, and the Tarheels won (!!!!) , and Lost will be on abc.com tomorrow.

:woohoo: for me, for you.

It's not about the destination. It's about who you bring along on the journey.

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

I bet a rickety old school bus goes to hell.
I'm also convinced that the registration process for hell will include a bubble sheet and a 2" Number 2 pencil.
