My mom bought me a lil sign with a lil mirror on it that has that saying.

We have a family cabin (built by great-great uncle and currently owned by my parents) up in Northern Wisconsin. The 6/7 hour drive there convinced me years ago that I DO NOT want to drive any longer distances with DH . He is a "I'm driving from A to B and we're NOT stopping" kind of guy. If one complains enough, he'll stop for a rest area - but you get dirty looks and sighs the whole time! We did do a trip to Nashville a couple years ago - but I set it up that we had a couple intermediary goals on the way there. That way the "point A to B" distances were managable! If I did that for a drive to WDW, we would spend half the vacation driving there and the other half driving home!

I'm sure glad I'm not driving anywhere tonight - it is really yucky out there! We are getting thunder-snow here. There is something a little scary about lightning/thunder and snow together....

My wonderful, kind, sweet DH braved the weather to pick up Chinese take-out for dinner so neither of us had to cook

LOL on the driving .. LOL.. we drive from her in the NW burbs to Gainesville FL in one drive.. leave at 3 am and arrive in FL at 10 or so...

That was nice of him to brave the weather and get Chinese.. we have a dusting of snow here but ...

My sister went on a trip with a bunch of her lady friends and they were all in the hotel when they heard one of the ladies screaming in the bathroom. They all rush in to find one of ladies looking in the mirror screaming "who invited my mother?"
She said it was quite funny.

Hi geffric!!! Actually, not ALL conferences offer the cheap tickets - it is up to each conference if they want to offer that perk (I assume they have to pay WDW something in order to make them available...) However, since all 3 of us have our annual passes we bought in January, it doesn't really matter. That is part of what is so cool about this - extra days at WDW without much extra cost at all. DS & I usually split a counter service meal (he will be 8 in June - but he is skinny as a rail and doesn't really eat that much) so even the food costs for just the two of us won't be that bad.

We thought about going during Spring Break last year, but since the entire Chicago area seems to all have that last week of March for spring break- getting a reasonably priced flight was impossible! I'm just too cheap to pay more than double what we usually pay just to go that week.

Once the weather gets better, we need to plan a Chicago area meet. I've only seen a few of us here, but maybe if we plan something we'll flush out a lurker or two!

Don't know that we could do a meet this spring but if you all get together in the spring or early summer of 08 Janet and I might be able to come. Janet was raise NW of Chicago in Woodstock. Would be a short drive from her father's house. Keep us in mind. Lois

Pamela, I know what you mean . . .LOL only our driving situation is a bit different. DH drives slow . . like the speed limit. I prefer to drive a bit quicker . . . DH is from Seattle. I'm always amazed how many folks ask us if we're driving from VA to Seattle. . . are they crazy . . . I do have issues with being a control driver anyway . . I like being the one driving and don't handle it well when someone else is doing it. Even on field trips, I usually volunteer to drive. Flying is the life for me . . .

Someone stole DH sneakers

Dh just called and told me someone stole his sneakers. I find this hysterical. He was skiing today and couldnt fit them in the locker so he put them on top. who whould steal someone elses dirty sneakers???? Its not like they are fancy expensive latest greatest sneakers. DH is slightly stuck in the 80's and still wears only black Fila sneakers.

We have been doing the drive from Michigan to Orlando or Ft. Myers at least once a year for over 15 years now. The kids are great. They are better since the invention if Ipods and handheld games, and video but we drive straight thru with a stop for dinner and breakfast and then potty stops only if we need gas. 20 plus hours. 23 to Ft. Myers.

I really think the mini meets are a great idea, but how can we organize it? Anyone have any ideas? Any volunteers?

I met a few fellow DISers during our first Disney cruise, but I have never participated in any meet or activity. It would be nice to get together before the cruise. Let's see if we can make this happen.

I have the same pan - promised DH I'd make him a train cake - haven't done it yet.

We have a plastic container that DH cut a slit into that we put all our loose change into. Last trip we managed to save over $300. In addition to doing that, this time I am also keeping all of our bottle return money in a coffee container - figure $15 every few weeks, there's another couple of hundred.

We had close to $300 in loose change for our trip in December, so I am hoping it will accumulate by Aug 2008, but right now it looks a little sad.

I had to actually search for this thread. What's going on tonight?
We have a new addition to our family today. His name is Stitch and he is a Beta fish. Very pretty I might add. I really missed the Beta I had next to me at the office for the last 2 years. He finally died. My work DH (the guy who gave my the diet grapefruit breath spray) had to give him a proper buriel. Yes, I think flushing was involved. Anyway there is a New Petco that opened real close to my house today and I got the little guy for $1.50. I bought a new tank that has a lid as I did not have Sprinkles (cat below) at the office and if she does to this fish what she did to Miranda's Sea Monkey's - it will not be pretty.

Welcome back to the betta family. SWMBO bought one to occupy the little tank DD's fish Sean was lived in before he passed and we bought a 20gal. aquarium. Her betta's name is Vista. She works for Micro$oft and I suggested "Vista Betta" was an appropriate name for her fish.

If you are in or near Chicago area, we have meets every few months.. also I have done a few meet at WDW with other DISers that were there at the same time..
