I grew up in Toledo OH and I have lots of family and friends that still live there. It's not a bad place to live...if your in the right area. But that is true for every city. There are some beautiful neighborhoods, that are no where near the price ranged mentioned above.

DB in Athens, OH, bought a 2,000 sqft house with 1/2 acre for just under $200k, 2 years ago.

Here in the O.C., 2,000 sqft goes for $650k (Santa Ana) to over a mil (near the beach). Where I live it's about $750 with a small yard.

A few years ago, I was in NE talking to my SIL's college roomate who lives in Chadron, NE. She was telling me about the house she and her husband had just bought - just under 2,000 sqft with large yard - for $31k. My mouth must have dropped 'cause she asked me, "Oh, is that too much?" :rotfl:

hey !!!! :cool1: , judy "we're-admiring" with diamonds....:flower3: ,

the dis's ::cop: are at lunch...here's an oldie but "booty" song,
we can sing...did i ever mentioned , you sing like a sparrow!
ok..cpt. jack's sparrow! darn wench etiqutte gets me every
time!....ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh, down in the boon docks,,

"your turn"...you lil'darling of a wench, :goodvibes ....the

kind of place i was born in....c'mom :scared:..v. man--told me
they gobbled down egg salad faster than cpt. jack's rum!!!!

I would say 25,000 gallons per quarter would be more like it, not 25,000 gallons per month, during this time of year.

Keep in mind since I am the water meter reader for our township, I am also known in our home as the WATER POLICE!!! The three of us used 16,000 of water during the past quarter, I know becuase I just read our meter yesterday.

We have consistantly used 12-15 per quarter and that's with three of us taking showers every day. Now maybe it helps that we're out of the house most of the day. So some of our average gallons are used at work/school.

I received some bad news when I woke up this morning and have been trying to deal with that. DH's GM died Wednesday night. I haven't been able to reach him yet but the service wont be for a couple weeks. She will be buried with her DH in Arlington National Cemetary so we have to wait for an opening. Gram was a very sweet lady who I didn't meet until her DH died, but she and the rest of the family treated me wonderfully. We had just sent out our engagement announcements the week before his accident. She has been in a rest home for quite a while since suffering with alzheimer's. She died peacefully in her sleep, so that is comforting.

I just wanted you to know if I am not around much today.

Lisa, I lost my beloved grandfather on Christmas day 2 years ago. He battled alzheimer's as well. It was horrible watching him deteriorate, but it does bring a sense of peace when they pass and the battle is over. Prayers for your family.

Lisa, you have our prayers for your family. I lost my grandparents some time ago and my Maternial Grandmother left a hole in my life. I still miss her and think of her often. Now my mother has joined her. Mom was sick for a number of years before she died and I still think I need to call her from time to time. It has been almost three years. I was glad when her battle was over. It was the worse for me but it was what needed to happen for her. I don't think it is ever easy for those of us left behind.

Take the time you need to care for yourself and your family :grouphug: . I'm guessing the thread will be here when you return. However, you will be missed. Lois

No prob. I am actually chuckling because I am wearing my pink dress....shirt to work today.... Although my wife says it is more of a lilac. I keep telling her I only speak in either primary colors or automobile colors.

I'm so sorry Lisa. Take good care!

I feel really bad doing all these as multi quote but I haven't had much time today to get on the DIS with the accountants here, so as I've had time I've been on and I finally got all caught up.

No, I don't have a problem having the family get the Hep shots for this cruise...and we will all get them. I will have to contact BCBS to find out what they do for that.

I hadn't thought about Hep A vaccacines - DH and DS have B done, I haven't. I'll have to speak with out Dr's about when the best time to have them done is.

Alan DH is having knee surgery tomorrow. I found out yesterday--he swears he told me a couple of weeks ago. I am sure that everything will be fine--but I really don't think he told me............maybe he did while I was trying desperately to catch up on this thread. It really made me feel bad.

Prayers and pixie dust that everything goes well today.

:offtopic: Alright, we (or at least I) need to know why they continue to play musical smilies with us! Do the ones not up front get jealous?:crowded: Were they promised equal time in the spotlight? :smokin: Maybe we are being cohersed into which ones we should use or how we should feel based on which ones are convenient to use. :teacher: Or possibly, the smilies themselves fight with each other and last man standing wins.

Whatever the reason, I wouldn't care so much if when I opened the dreaded "more" button and the smiley window popped up, it would stay up as it did before and not close automatically after I submitted my reply!:badpc:

Sorry, carry on. :drive:

Yes, the musical smilies are making CRAZY!!!!!!!!!!!!

TiggerPigletFlowers.gif

Well, I can't believe it, but this is my 100th post on this thread!!! Considering I've on the Dis for over 3 and 1/2 years and I only have 257 posts in that time, I'm shocked at myself!!! I guess that's nearly 40% of all my posts on this thread?!?!?!?!?! :teacher: Holy Moly!!!

Congrats on 100! That is just the beginning...
SO while I am up ranting by myself . . .

Reading about people who received e-mails about the new ships reminded me of something.

I think Disney hates me.

We've been to a park (WDW or DL) every year since we had kids in 1998.
We had WDW passes when we lived in FL
Cruised DCL 2x - '08 will be 3, we're on an every other year schedule (CC members, right?)
I buy everything with my Disney Visa
Disney shareholders (OK 2 shares, but still!)
Buy oodles of stuff from Disney Shopping
Disney Insider e-mail list

HAVE I EVER RECEIVED A POSTCARD, E-MAIL, OR ANYTHING ELSE????
NNNNOOOOOOOO! We've certainly never been family of the minute for any department.

I even had to call 3 months after our last cruise to see if they would send me the little CD kit-thingy I found out about on the Dis.

Come on Mickey - where's the love?

No Mickey love here - they've never sent us anything.:sad2:

[J. R.] Okay, campers, rise and shine, and don't forget your booties because it's coooold out there today.
[Judy] It's coooold out there every day. What do you think this is, Castaway Cay?
[J. R.] There's another reason why today is especially exciting.
[Judy] Especially cold!
[J. R.] Yes, especially cold, okay, but the big question on everybody's lips
[Judy] On their chapped lips
[J. R.] Right, on their chapped lips. Do you think anyone is going to talk about these topics today?
[Judy] That's right woodchuck-chuckers, it's...
[All] GROUNDHOG POST!

SO:

  • Did anyone get a room assignment from DCL today?
  • Lisa, did we tell you we really miss the website?
  • Cake. Yum, cake. With frosting. And whipped cream?
  • What size crocs should I buy? Are they comfortable? Boy, are they ugly.
  • blah, blah, blah N.R. (with swords)
  • Where are we going to be able to buy our lime green DIS T-****s for the cruise, Captain
  • The Tag Fairy doesn't like me. She likes me. I got tagged! It's like Christmas in February!
  • Did anyone get moved off WLE dining to Captain's dining?
  • Duct tape.
  • Who's going to win on that science-fiction show "AI"?

Stop the insanity!!!!!!!!!!!!

Let's see....its Friday which means......I need to pack and head to the airport in a couple of hours to run away to Disneland for 5 days :cool1:

The question is... how many thousands of posts will I have to catch up on when I get back on Wednesday evening? Maybe I'll just have to take a 'puter with me LOL

Everyone have a great weekend.

Andy

Have a great trip!

Since I love statistics, I decided to take a couple of minutes and audit these figures this morning. I only did the top 20 posters to the thread.

Oh Lisa, I'm so very sorry! :grouphug: To everyone.

Good morning! wow only 7 pages to get through :yay:

so I've got until lunch to ketchup :) Not that I wanted to hear from our guy in Ft. Greely about the high being -11°F and the low being -38°F!!!!! :cold:

Shaping up to be a nice day:

Forecast

Friday will be warm and breezy with lots of sunshine, but changes move into Southern Colorado tonight. Snow showers will continue in the Rockies today, and then a rain/snow mix will begin along the Front Range this evening. Snow showers paired with strong winds will continue through the night and for tomorrow morning. A BLIZZARD WATCH will go into effect for N. El Paso County and the Southeastern Plains starting tonight and lasting through Saturday afternoon. Wind driven snow tonight and tomorrow will turn the roads icy and reduce visibility for travelers. Snow totals will range from a trace to 3 inches along the Front Range and 2 to 6 inches are possible for the Palmer Divide, N. El Paso County and the Eastern Colorado Plains. The central and southwestern mountains could receive up to a foot in some areas. We will have clearing skies late Saturday and for Sunday as the temps will try to warm up for Sunday and Monday.

Currently 52°
High Today 58°
Low Tonight 24°

Stay safe!

You mean there are still homes out there for less than $150,000??

yeah but you see from location they are way in the snow belt....the cheaper cost of housing goes downhill when you account for those higher heating bills and 4 wheel drives and yick all that SNOW......
