8/17/08 Captain Jack's Repossession Repo Cruise to PC thru TPC Part 6

Pirate shopping report. The reason that I am so insanely behind in reading posts is due to trips to WM & Tarjay this afternoon with DD. WM was CRAZY!!! We needed milk & OJ though & I decided to stock up on some of the basics for the next month so that I don't need to do that again for a while. A mounding cart & over an hour later we were checking out. Next was TJ. I haven't been there for a week so made the rounds. The earrings that I have been keeping an eye on for the past 3 weeks were down to 75%...just there waiting for me. Formal night dahling! Beautiful crystal dangly things. Girls had the Vday stuff 75%...and though I know that it will probably go to 90% tomorrow...I just don't want to mess with it. So...I picked up a ton of t-****s for DD. One of them has a monkey on it!!! She will proudly wear it on the cruise. Some scooters to go with them & we were done in that department. Back to the holiday stuff & we pickedd up a few more things that were marked down...Princess vday cards and a t-**** for me too. DS is happy as well because I found a Marvel comic at 50% for him with Xmen...and is reading it right now. The last thing that DD found proves that she is a bargain hunter at heart like her mama. We were in the toy department & she saw a puppy in the stuffed animals. It had a heart tag on it so she said LOOK IT'S ON SALE! She ran off to the scanner & reported that it was 1 . 2 4 and said sale.

Everything is scanned, put away, & dinner is cleaned up so now I can try to catch up here.

Like daughter ... like Mama... thats' how our girls are! I just got back from Office Depot... and the manager gave to OK for me to do the swap... so I'm in the process of uninstalling office and a couple other programs I put on it ... and then I have to hustle back as I got their LAST BOX!

-mid-40's. Most people tell me I don't look my age. I try not act it either.
-Wedding pictures. I burned them back on April 22, 1998.
-NASCAR I just don't get it.
-Remind me to bring my own laptop
-There are no such thing as cruise calories. You work them off walking up to deck 9 for ice cream.
-Crocs: Ugly but confortable pink, red and black
-food shopping, gym, laundry
-AR is back!!!! Go Kevin/Drew and Joyce/Unchenna
-Tomorrow: Retail therapy

Somebody clue me in on the Disney Rewards Dollars, please!

We used all we had in WDW last year, but haven't used any since then. Can I just let the dollars accumulate and transfer them to the Rewards Card before the cruise?

Did we determine what the annual maximum was for earnings? I'm guessing that's different than the maximum number of rewards dollars I can have in my account?

What constitutes a year for earnings? Is it a calander year, anniversary of having the card, or some other fiscal year?


Clearly I should have read the fine print that comes with the card...

Earn one (1) Disney Dream Reward Dollar for every eligible one hundred ($100) dollars in purchases, up to a maximum of 750 Disney Dream Reward Dollars in a calendar year

I always slurge on vacations. We've had some kick-butt vacations over our kids lifetimes that I wouldn't trade for ANYTHING!! Especially now that DD is about to go off to college. Our annual vacation is the best investment in our family that we could have ever made. But this vacation, this is truly our Trip Of A Lifetime since I don't know how many more after that one DD will join us on.

As I say in my signature...these cruises are our annual family therapy sessions. I really depend on them every year. This year's will be missed.

Sorry Lisa Too bad the Repo is as pricey as is it. Probably in the end DCL will lose some revenue because of those of us that cancelled '07 to be able to take the Repo in '08. If the Repo was less expensive I would have tried to do both years. I know alot of people feel that way. But I know you were cruising with friends this year and I'm sorry you had to cancel.

Note that Disney Rewards cards (and all points on them) expire on the date on the card.

SO, if you have 100 rewards points and transfer them to a card and do not use them by the time the card expires, you lose those points.

IF you do not transfer them to a card but just leave them in your account, I do not think they ever expire.

I have a Rewards card that expires in December 2007, so I will wait until after then to order a new Rewards card and then begin transferring points.

SWMBO thought Crocs were the ugliest things she had ever seen. Then we ran into Kat from the boards at the skyway on St. Lucia and she was wearing her Disney Crocs and now my wife NEEDS a pair. Somehow Mickey heads make them cuter.

Agreed. We didn't bring an alarm on the last cruise. We were relying on the wake-up call. Problem was, I'd wake up in the middle of the night and it makes a difference if it is 2AM or 7AM. If it's 7, I might as well get up. So this time, I will bring an LED alarm clock.

We will be bringing a lighted clock next time- doesn't need to have an alarm but the light from the bathroom, as you said, does NOT CUT IT. You can find the bathroom but have no idea what time it is without turning on lights and waking up spouse. We thought we could do without it last time... won't try that again!

Gordon's rookie season was the year & met DH. I couldn't believe that anyone would want to sit for hours & watch cars go around a track. When his parents visited they would BLARE the sound so it was like you were at the darn track. Well, when I realized that DH was a keeper, I figured that I may as well make an attempt to understand NASCAR. I started asking questions. It started making sense to me & the strategy was interesting when it came down to the dynamics. NEVER thought that would happen to me. LOL! Anyhow, I decided to root for him because he was new to it and seemed to be genuinely excited about winning...which he did A LOT of that season and the next. I hated DE because of his attitude & the fact that he was always pushing people around on the track...literally...kind of ironic that is how he died.

I hate Nascar. Well hate is a strong word... I just don't like it. I think I was traumatized by having to watch it WAY TOO MUCH in my younger days (because dad watched it all the time). Thank goodness my DH doesn't watch it!

Glad you were able to get the computer switched!

Now a question: how do you use stateroom credits? Do they just use those before they start charging your credit card? We've never cruised with stateroom credits before, but this time we'll have SC's from both the TA and for rebooking onboard from DCL. So how does it work? How do you know how much stateroom credit you have to make sure you got what you were supposed to? And then do they just use that for your charges before charging your credit card? So what about let's say you get a drink or two, and you sign the paper for it/tip/etc. Does that come off your stateroom credit first until it's gone and then starts charging your credit card?

And another question, anyone know if they are going to handle things differently on a longer cruise like this? I mean how often do they put your charges on your card during the trip- every few days or what?

That's a very good point.

We actually have 2 cards, and I know both expire before this trip. We'll have to remind each other to order the new cards when we get closer to cruise time.

Here's one more thought on this--DH & I each opened our own account in our own names last year when we could earn a bonus for each new account...and because we couldn't agree on which card we liked. If you are close to topping out your rewards earnings, maybe your can open a new account in the spouse's name. We won't come close to the max rewards because we can't charge things like tuition, but it was an idea I wanted to share in case it would help you.
