crazy question...i haven't been able to follow this thread too closely..i really tried, but there is just no way!! so my question is: what is everyone here's occupation?? i'm sure it was asked thousand and thousands of posts back, but i'm outta the loop!
i do in home child daycare...and right now..kids are taking a very late nap do to play time outside earlier!!!

I work for movie studios and check trailers, sneak peeks, patron counts and looby checks. Does not pay well but I get to see all the movies!!!!

DH works in the medical field as a proto-type engineer.

I currently wear a few hats...
My "day job" is being the Assistant Director of Operations of a large liquor distributor here in St. Louis. I also do some AutoCAD work on the side, and I am taking a class as well in the evenings to "brush up" on AutoCAD (new version since I went to school).
AND since I REALLY am not crazy about my current job or my boss, I am looking for a new direction. I've worked here for over 8 years now, and it's time to change. I have my bachelor's degree in architecture, and I am trying desperately to work my way into the field...*SIGH*

DPartner Jen works in the therapy department of a nursing home. She does physical therapy. And she LOVES her job! I can't wait until I can say that about my job! :headache:

It really isn't fun when you don't like your job - or the people you work for.

Your DP Jen sounds like a very special person - it takes a lot to work in a nursing home.

Just realized - I totally left DH off of mine - he is one of our heros in blue - a police officer. Another job that takes very special, dedicated people.

Oy! I think I am about 3000 posts behind. Not as bad as thought being away for more than two days. Apparently I had an ovarian cyst that burst so I was in the ER on Tuesday night. Feeling almost back to normal today.:thumbsup2 Now to try and find where I left off....

I am so glad you are feeling better.:thumbsup2 I missed your postings.:confused3

Good luck to you, and best wishes for Mrs. Crash's family member.

So sorry to hear that CC. I hope everything turns out OK.

measures.

...in
my current work of helping others rebuild/recover their lives...I had to find ways to reach their emotional state ... ..."you just changed my life!" .... :thumbsup2 .thanks, so much for being so brave, and sharing
your family stories...[they are indeeds, helping/encouraging others] ...

Thanks everyone -

- I have not read everything between now and last nite... and I was trying not to say much here as I figured there is so much going on (I can never keep up enough to read everything that's written between my visits - and I am NOT complaining about that.... just a mentioning of MY inability to cover/read ALL the postings... but I read at least half if not more - especially those after and somewhat before my posting activity).

I digress... as I was saying... I was trying to not get into it much. No one can be very happy in dealing with chronic illnesses... especially with those dear to them. We - like most people have family of all ages and varied condition. I lost my Mom 19-20 years ago... I was the primary care provider (more so then my Dad... he sort of shut down after a while and was not much help... regretfully he was more a problem then anything else).

At any rate... we all have folks we care about. Eventually, something might threaten the life of one of them - and eventually it might even be yoor immediate family contending with threats. Well... our number is up and we are helping out with a family who is very ill and who is very close - to put it mildly.

For the moment - I'll just leave it at that. We hope (and privately, respectfully... pray) that we'll get good results in a few weeks/months or as long as it takes for some kind of result to show.

FOr now this is how I'll speak of it - and thank you for any who might have expressed something nice or sympathetic by way of reply on our "issue" here in the past and near future ... I'm trying to read everything between here and last nite when I fell asleep by the keyboard (again)... plus I'll read a little going forward some too. The usual checkerboard of coverage for me...

I seem to have fallen into a gap where the daily DIS site refreshing at 12:15 allows me to fall asleep while I wait forit it to come back...

Thanks you guys----
I missed you too....:grouphug: :grouphug: :dance3:

"M" and I are warming up since we are being so sentimental .......
Kumbaya my Lord Kumbaya........:grouphug: :grouphug:

Do you happen to work for the largest drug company in the world??? :confused3 My son is a microbiolgist for them. He is in India but was in NJ two weeks ago. He lives in Kalamazoo,Michigan.

My niece and her husband own a landscaping business in K-Zoo. My sister also lives there when she isn't working in Detroit. Her DH stays in K-Zoo to look after their Alpaca farm.

We visit there a lot. Nice area.

Who did she fly, Mike? US Scare..... They're famous for loosing things right under their noses....

Yup! It wouldn't have been so bad if someone there knew what they were talking about. Anyway, the important thing is that she's home safe. The fact that her boss is ticked off that she has to do some work is just icing on the cake!

Dumb question but are Alpacas the same as llamas?:confused3

Finally caught up ... I read some talk of books earlier and highly recommend Peter and the Starcatchers by Ridley Pearson and Dave Barry. It is a prequel to Peter Pan. They also wrote a follow up called Peter and the Shadow Thieves. The 2nd one is a little scary for younger kids but both are good! My mother (76) and I (4?) enjoyed them! Kind of fits in with the Pirate theme too! By the way ... Disney actually endorses them. I bought the 2nd one at Downtown Disney!

I actually made up a lovely DIS version of Kumbaya a few months ago on the CB - but now I can't find it.

Speaking of good books ----
Anyone read the Disney endorsed book also by Ridley Pearson (Peter and the Starcatchers) called "Kingdom Keepers"?
I have only seen it at DTD but it is really good for that 8-12 crowd. Although I have to say I read it and found it to be very well done. It is about these kids who when they fall asleep at night they end up in the Magic Kingdom and have to go through all the secret passageways and solve a mystery.
