Just in from work and finished shoveling. Any news on room assignments today?

With all the snow excitment, I forgot to tell you about what happened at work.

Some folks wanted to get invovled with the Relay for Life and had a little meeting about it for those who were interested. They had breakfast goodies, so what the heck, I went. ;)

Anyway, we're sitting there, they do their little speil, a former co-worker who survived breast cancer and had retired in September came back to talk about the ACS and relay for life. One of our other co-workers passed away last summer after suffering from cancer for a long time. In the end, we all thought it would be a good way to honor her and decided to try to get a group together to do it. :thumbsup2

Then, one of the people who came up with this bright idea got up and said "OH and we forgot. This year this is a theme to the walk. 'Let's make Cancer walk the plank!' It's a pirate theme!!" It got dead silent and, no kidding, everyone in the room turned around and looked at me! :confused3 I have no clue what all that's about! ;)

Great Relay theme!! You'll love doing it. Our family has participated for 10 years now. It's a lot of fun, but really moving and emotional too.

Once again, you show your sweet side to us. :)

Reading your post made me remember that Valentine's day does have a special place in our heart here. DH proposed on 2/1/97...while we were walking thru the mud pit they were clearing for more homes in our neighborhood...but it is the thought that counts. ;) Definantly unique! Anyhow, my 30th bday was 2/10, and then we drove up to VA to visit the family and take my sister up on her offer to get us a discount on a ring where she worked. That was 2/14. The man at the counter asked me if the ring was going out of the store in the box or on my finger. I looked at DH2B and said that the only way it was going on my finger was if he was down on one knee. DH quickly said...in the box. :rotfl: After dinner he came into the room where I was sitting, got down on one knee and proceeded to make me cry. He said that he hoped that he would make me as happy on my 80th bday as I was on my 30th.

How sweet. What a great story.

can't imagine!:rolleyes1 :confused3 :rotfl:

Holy moly! Y'all are the chatty-est bunch of DIS cruisers I've ever had the joy to cruise with! I posted somewhere back in like 1052 late last week, and now we're in the 1300s! I'll never catch up! :scared: :lmao:

I did go back and see many lovely welcome aboards, which I appreciate. This is the busy time at my work (I work at a university, and I organize housing for approximately 8,000 summer guests who stay in June and July), so I just don't have time to read if I'm not at home. And at home, well, I have a sick husband with a headache that won't go away..today he went in for a Head CT so they can try to figure out what is going on. He's sleeping now, so I thought I'd slip online for a few.

Anyway, I'll be in and out, but I look forward to getting to know everyone!

Erica

It must have been the cold, snow and lack of power that clouded your thoughts.

I recommend you don't walk to close to any railings on the ship. :rotfl:

LOL!!! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Back home and in the house for the night, the temps are dropping like a rock and the sn*w has started once again.

Angelina just told us that more than 1/2 of the student population was absent from her school today. She couldn't believe how empty the hallways were between classes.

Erica - sending prayers and pixiedust: that they find out what's wrong with your husband and that it isn't anything serious.

Valentines Day is also special for me and my DH. He proposed to me on 2/15/91. He said he didnt want to do it on actual valentines day so we could have our own day. He had picked up the ring the weekend before and froze it in an ice cube and then the night after V-Day came home from work and asked me if I wanted a drink. After I finished my drink he offered a refill and said why dont you drink that last little bit and by that time the ice had melted enough for me to see the ring. He did the whole down on one knee thing too. It is a great memory and I would say yes all over again - I definately got one of the good ones!!!!

Glad your back Andy.

I'm still at work. If I would have left at 5:00 (35 min ago) I would have been home by now. I thought we'd have run for it by now.

I know once I leave, the posts will come fast.

Oh well, I was going to work at home anyways, so I might as well work here and check back periodically to make sure you're behaving.

Us misbehave? :lmao: :lmao:

Just talked to her again. After 12 hours at the airport, they finally decided to cancel her flight. The earliest they can get her on another one is Sat. morning. Only problem is that her return flight leaves SanDiego at 10:30 AM Sat morning.

She's been waiting for her luggage now for about an hour. At first, they weren't even going to unload their luggage. They were going to send their luggage to Ca, let it go unclaimed, then ship it back home and deliver it to the house sometime next week. Gotta love the airlines.

At least she's safe and should be home soon.

Wishing your DW safe travels back home!!!
