The funny thing is, Angelina was just saying last night how she doesn't like volleyball and that's what they were doing in gym class, actually, that's what they will be doing for the next nine weeks. When the nurse put Angelina on the phone, the first thing Angelina said was, "Dad, I really did hurt my hand, and it wasn't on purpose." :rotfl:

Angelina tends to be like me, accident proned!!! :lmao:

If the weather was better, I'd tell you to take her to the doctor. At least that way she'd get a note excusing her from the next 9 weeks of volleyball.

(Gee, can you tell I didn't care for Gym class myself?)

I read the DISboard rules, I don't think there's a problem making a book recommendation? Lisa, please feel free to let me know if I'm in the wrong.

Also, I hope the Panama Canal veterans pardon me. As a Panama Canal newbie, I've been trying to soak in information on this cruise, and this may seem trivial, but I just ordered and received the book "Panama Canal by Cruise Ship", written by Anne Vipond. It's really pretty impressive, a tour book and history book in one, so I thought I might suggest it for other newbies too.

It gives detailed history of the Panama area going back to the first Spaniards who were led by Natives across the 40 mile "Isthmus of Panama" to the Pacific ocean, leading up through the 1849 gold rush and development of the world's first transcontinental railroad over the Isthmus to help prospectors go west. Then France's struggles and failure on the first canal. And then the U.S. helping Panama become independent from Colombia and signing the agreement for perpetual control over the building and control of the 10 mile wide zone around the canal, detailed information on the construction of the canal and recent history as the canal zone was ceded it back Panama by the Carter administration.

Of course, as a tour book, it has lots of information on Ports of Call, including history, culture, shore excursions and shopping tips. It includes information on all of the Disney Ports of Call except Castaway Cay:rolleyes: . Lots of colorful pictures and maps. Great book, I thought it was well worth the $16.

Joel,

Is this the book you were talking about? If so, I bought this book back in 2004 after we booked TPC August 2005 Repo Cruise. When we cancelled that cruise, I sent the book to a DCL CM that was going on the cruise. It is indeed a very informative book. I did read it through before passing it along, I just wish I had it back now to refresh my memory.

OH! And yesterday I had mentioned that I was going to try that cookie recipe...It turned out I did not have the brown sugar. :sad1:

BUT I did end up making brownies...I adjusted the recipe a bit...added a little less cocoa, a little more sugar, and then I added about a cup of the chocolate/peanut butter chips...They turned out DELICIOUS!!!

Jen came home from work right before I put them in the oven, and she licked the bowl. She said, this is the best batter I've ever tasted!! Is this a box mix?!!? :faint:
I said "NOPE! I made it from scratch!!!" :teeth:

:thumbsup2 Are there any leftovers?

I've read several trip reports and threads about the 2005 repo. I don't recall anyone saying they had a problem taking drink onto the ship.

I'm trying to figure out if I should pack the items in checked luggage or in a carryon.:confused3 (soda, water, and liquor:banana: )

Unless the airline rules change, you still can't bring liquids on your carry ons. Best to wait until you get to CA then buy there.

Oh, BTW...Congrats, Laura on the mini...or maybe we're not cointing those anymore...:lmao:
At any rate, GO WENCHES!!!

Gee, I didn't even notice. I know were are not counting them due to FLUFF but it was my first ever.

Hello to all! I just wanted to delurk for a moment and introduce myself and my family.:yay: We are one of the crazies who will be sailing with all of you.
It will be myself Bev, dh Dale, and the 2 boys Luke will be 9 and Mason will be 7. We have one cruise under our belts on the Magic back in April of 2005 and are soooooo looking forward to spending more time on this magnificent ship!:woohoo:

Bev

WELCOME!! :cheer2:

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: Count me in for a small bowl!!

DD was just saying last night,"Mom, if the Groundhog saw it's shadow why is all this snow coming? Isn't it suppose to be spring?" She also said mother nature is mean! I say let's get our pitch forks and torches and storm the ground hog's lair! (Sorry it's a slow day here! LOL!)

I knew I should have kept Angelina home from school today. We just received a call from the school nurse. Angelina injured her hand in gym class, nothing serious, the nurse was putting an ice pack on Angelina's hand and a splint on one of the fingers. I talked to Angelina and she said he doesn't hurt enough to come home, which is a good sign. We'll see how it goes by the time school is over.

Sending some pixiedust: that it's nothing serious!

Just a note to help explain the birthday calendar.

Katie / DD Joel110

...means that it is Katie's bday and she is the DD of Joel110.

Sorry...one of those things that was crystal clear to me so I didn't explain it any. :goodvibes

Yep..That's it.

Hmm....that will make the "Bring a Bottle of your Local Area wine for a Wine & Cheese Party" party a bit more complicated.

If anyone is still interested in a Wine & Cheese party, I bet we could do one by picking 2-3 varieties of wine & asking each participant to bring a bottle. Then we could compare the different vinyard's interpretations of each varietal.

Or, is that too darned educational for a vacation?

 Welcome! Welcome! Welcome! Bev

And I have to say, I forgot to mention that I was SO feeling like my grandmother!! :lmao: :lmao:
My sweet, sweet, grandmother...
She has a HUGE collection of recipes that she has gathered over the years...I call her all the time to get them from her. (I actually offered one year around Christmas time to type them all out and make them into a HUGE cookbook for her...but she refused. She likes her system of keeping all of the recipes in a box...Gotta love grandma's filing system)
So anyhow, my dear grandma always makes side notes on her recipes when she adjusts something, like 1/2 cup less of this...etc. So I'm making these brownies, and going by the recipe in the Better Homes cookbook. AND I MADE A NOTE IN THE MARGIN about the "less cocoa, more sugar, add the chocolate/peanut butter chips"!
I SO felt like my grandma at that moment!! :lmao:

I hope all the sickies start feeling better today! (Just don't breathe too hard in my direction! :lmao: )

Snow's finished falling here, but it's COLD!! The main roads were mostly cleared by this morning when I came to work, but it was quite interesting getting out of my neighborhood this morning!! :scared1:
I just had to sort of roll through stop signs to avoid coming to a complete stop...LOL

Keep that lysol by the computer. :thumbsup2 :lmao:
