I always find it amazing, and a bit sad, when people think that if anything goes wrong that is out of the control of Disney, or any company for that matter, they complain because the company didn't do a better job of making sure it didn't.![]()
I have been struck by something when researching hotels. They say that they are smoke free. Is this something that is all over the area? Here the malls & some restaurants are smoke free.
Guess she is out for Beach Volleyball at CC ????![]()

OH NO!
Those calls from the school nurse are the WORST.
I hope Angelina's hand feels better SOON!
Just wanted to let everyone know that last night I edited the summaries a bit. They are all now in 1000 blocks and all the references to links are hyperlinks so you just need to click on the words to take you to the link. This is instead of having to look for a certain page or post #. I hope that it makes it easier for people to go back & find some of the information that has been posted. I'm also cleaning it up to make it easier when it is time to transfer the information to the website.![]()
If the port will even allow us to bring drinks along!![]()
Yes, and these are usually the same ones who try to "bend the rules", like taking a diapered child into the Mickey Pool, etc...because it's "their vacation", and they paid a LOT of money to be there, and NO ONE is going to tell them that they cannot do what they want to do!!![]()
Just went on the school district homepage and found out that our schools are on a two hour delay start.
I just called and took a Personal Day, ain't NO WAY I'm walking around in this mess. I nearly slipped and fell just going outside to see if my newspaper was here yet. It's horrible outside, a layer of ice on top of the sn*w that fell yesterday, and more sn*w expected before this storm moves out of the area. This is some CRAZY stuff!!!![]()
Be Safe if you have to be out in this mess.
Lisa, you are AMAZING!
Thanks again for everything you're doing!
Just got back from taking Angelina to school, luckily, the school is just around the corner from us, I still can't believe they actually opened the schools today as the roads are a mess.![]()
Oh well, I'm in the house until it's time to pick Angelina up this afternoon.
DH finally made it home from MD - took about 3 hours longer than normal, but he is home!!!! Thank you to everyone who sent good wishes along earlier today - I really appreciate it!!!!!![]()
I read the DISboard rules, I don't think there's a problem making a book recommendation? Lisa, please feel free to let me know if I'm in the wrong.
Also, I hope the Panama Canal veterans pardon me. As a Panama Canal newbie, I've been trying to soak in information on this cruise, and this may seem trivial, but I just ordered and received the book "Panama Canal by Cruise Ship", written by Anne Vipond. It's really pretty impressive, a tour book and history book in one, so I thought I might suggest it for other newbies too.
It gives detailed history of the Panama area going back to the first Spaniards who were led by Natives across the 40 mile "Isthmus of Panama" to the Pacific ocean, leading up through the 1849 gold rush and development of the world's first transcontinental railroad over the Isthmus to help prospectors go west. Then France's struggles and failure on the first canal. And then the U.S. helping Panama become independent from Colombia and signing the agreement for perpetual control over the building and control of the 10 mile wide zone around the canal, detailed information on the construction of the canal and recent history as the canal zone was ceded it back Panama by the Carter administration.
Of course, as a tour book, it has lots of information on Ports of Call, including history, culture, shore excursions and shopping tips. It includes information on all of the Disney Ports of Call except Castaway Cay. Lots of colorful pictures and maps. Great book, I thought it was well worth the $16.
No, we had one even WORSE. It was 10:30 on Friday, December 15. We had a limo picking us up to go to the airport at 12:15 for our flight to Orlando for the 10-day cruise. We got a call from the nurse, saying our son had been injured in gym roller skating and could we come and pick him up. Visions of a visit to the emergency room filled our head.
Luckily, he'd just got the wind knocked out of him. He was in some pain in his back, but he took some Tylenol and said he was fine. No way he was missing the cruise, apparently. A couple more Tylenol at the airport and he never complained about the back pain again.
