Well Pirates, so much for my hope of 2008 being better than 2007. DS is in the hospital again for his depression. I really don't know how much more of this I can take. Please pray for us.

Monica, what can we all say but you and DS are in our hearts and prayers.  You just keep up your srtength and keep us posted on his progress!!!:flower3:

I'm sure this has already been posted, but I finally got the rest of the information regarding the onboard check in for flights.

You must have at least one way transfers through DCL from the port to MCO. You can have no more than 2 bags per person weighing no more than 50 pounds each (regardless of what your airline limit is). You must be flying out on the same date the cruise ends. And you must be on one of the following airlines: Air Tran, Alaska, American, Continental, Delta, Jet Blue, Northwest, United/Ted or USAir.

Getting this information helped get my butt in gear and I have finally bought my airfare! We'll have to drive to Milwaukee (probably do two one way rentals). I got pretty good prices and great times. No direct flights though, but I saved about $300 over the direct flights :woohoo:

You had the right answers for me Tracy.:yay: We don't have to look for our suitcases when we go through customs.:woohoo: :woohoo: I saved myself at least $20.00 in tips too!!! I will have two carry-ons with wheels but I can leave my other 4 big suitcases out in the hall and not see them til home!! (I hope and pray):rolleyes1

Luv ya Cheryl, but I'm not lugging you to CA in a suitcase!

I swear I actually said that at work today!

"We need to to find a funder for this new program."
pirate: "Great, what's the program. Give me the details"
"Well, we're not going to bother with pesky details until we have the money"
pirate:"Ummm, no one is going to just toss a million dollars our way to do 'whatever'.I need to have something to write about."
:snooty:"Why are you being so difficult?"

It is bureaucracy at its best!!!:lmao: :lmao:

For the two of us, the cost for me to rent a car is close to the cost for the transfers. The flight price was identical between Air Tran and Midwest Express. So for a few more bucks, I don't have to hassle with my luggage in the terminal or to the airport.

Decided the same deal. But now I save money on tips at the port!!!:thumbsup2

Well, I just booked our return flight (still don't have the outgoing one!) on AirTran from MCO to Midway Chicago. Not the best I've ever paid - but also not the worst - $120 each for the one-way flight. I would have liked to wait for SouthWest, but we were getting nervous that the labor day holiday might be a very busy day and didn't want to keep waiting. Also, we do have DCL transfers from port to MCO so being able to check the bags and not have to deal with them until we get home sounds pretty good. This is the 1st time we've had transfers - we've always rented a car and spent a couple days at WDW. But this time we have to get back for school. I'm sure a car would be a little cheaper than the transfers, but sometimes I'll pay a little more for convenience. THere are only 3 of us so it isn't too terribly bad...

Any comments on AirTran? We have never flown them before...

Pamela (pdarrah)

I paid $150 for United minus a $25 voucher. Not the best considering I paid $189 roundtrip last year.

Cheryl,
Elvis wants you to know that his photoshopping skills have improved..... And i was wrong it is Samantha (16dd -- 17 on trip) not Katherine he did these things to....

Tell Elvis to bring a lap top along so he could give me photoshop lessons.:thumbsup2 I love the pictures. Tell Samantha she is still adorable!!!:goodvibes

Looking at the online tip calculator I find the minimum recommended tip total would be $650. Knowing that we will be adding to the total will be somewhere between $750 to just under $1000 just for the tips. A couple of trips to Palo (We are interested in the couples brunch as well), excursions hopefully under $250/port, souvenirs and a minimal bar bill could add up to a couple of thousand without really trying. Last year for our trip to WDW I made out a complete spreadsheet with everything that I could think of and had that much put away. It was the first trip that I did not look like this :scared1: when the final bill came. I will be starting a new one very soon.

OMG!!!! I could never see what I actually spent on a cruise. I would be scared :scared1: to see my projected spending amount. I like my husbands theory. If you spend it, I will just make more money!!!:cheer2:

Monica....good thoughts and prayers and lots of hugs to you and your son!

Stace...how is DH doing?????:flower3:

He is doing so well! Thank you for asking. He was released from treatment by his doctor yesterday...all healed up and learning new ways of using that hand. His spirits are good in spite of the possibility that he may have to quit doing part of his job that he really loves doing the most. We're going to give it more time before we search for a replacement or start to train someone else though. But he really is doing really, really well.

That's great news Stacey!

You are using Disney transfers from the airport to port/ port to airport correct? If not you cannot use this service.
I am renting a car from PC to MCO so I am stuck lugging my own luggage.

Coral

Yes, we're using the Disney transfers.:thumbsup2

I just bought our return trip tickets from Travelocity. AirTran $104 non-stop from MCO to Dulles in VA. Leaving at 1:54 pm.

That's pretty much what I was hoping for:goodvibes

How much are transfers for a family of 4:confused3

Transfers were running about $50/pp last time I looked at them.

So that means you are buying for all!!!!

Just scanned the last few pages. I noticed the posts about the t shirts. Where is the info? Did a quick run through the website but didn't notice any info. It's probably there but I missed it.
If anyone can direct me to the t shirt info, send me a PM. Hope to be in chat Friday night.

Quote got dropped...

I haven't seen the commercial, but that sounds about right. Only I freeze at Squirt hockey. Pee Wee is actually an age level (11-12 year olds). I stay warm at Mite hockey (6-8) since I'm on the ice...with my travel coffee mug.

Check it out here

Roundtrip, pick up at LAX and drop off at MCO are $59 per person
If you are making a stop at a Disneyland hotel and need to be picked up from there then they are $60 per person

If you are looking for one way then they are $30 per person

hey I think I learned how to multi quote
Little things make me happy :upsidedow

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: I wasn't ready to start my list either, but now I'll have to just to stop worrying about it:rolleyes:

My son Andrew is a huge World of Warcraft fanatic. He keeps asking me if anybody here plays.

My grandkids and my DD and DS all play. Truth is they are all addicted. I think a 12 step program maybe needed :rotfl2:

I really hate to be the bearer of bad news but with all the talk of brunches and teas and planning what $ will be spent, in opening up my browser just now guess what I saw?:scared1: :scared1:

Disney Cruise Line News

Palo Price Increase

Effective 1/10/08 on the Disney Wonder and 1/12/08 on the Disney Magic, the price of dining at Palo increases to $15 per person for both the brunch and dinner. (NOTE: This increase is applicable to NEW bookings only. If you already have Palo booked, the $10 rate will be honored.)

The Palo Service Team will get $5 of this fee while $10 will go towards maintaining and enhancing the venue.

Now this will be an interesting development. Now we know how they are making up for the $100.

I just needed an idea of what it would cost. Dreams Unlimited can add a transfer on for me:woohoo:

I know when we looked years ago, that it was a bit cheaper to rent a car and it gave us the flexibility of stopping at DTD. But with school starting the next day, we're more interested in getting home this time as quickly and easily as possible:upsidedow

Andrew is 14, but he (and his friends) often hang out with his 10 year old sister (Kelly) when they are gaming:confused3 He'll chat about games with anyone, age doesn't seem to get in the way:rotfl:
Kelly and your DS will be in the same age group in the Kids Club and she likes World of Warcraft too:goodvibes

Andrew is definitely addicted to World of Warcraft:rolleyes:

As far as Palo...

I'm just glad they aren't raising the Palo price any higher. That's my addiction, good food and service;)

So that means you are buying for all!!!!

Sure ...why not.:confused3 He never looks at the credit card bills anyway. We have a perfect marriage. John works and earns the money while plan on how to spend it.:lmao: :lmao:
