Honest question here. Can those that have opinions on this explain to me what is offensive? I never gave it a second thought. I have no problem with my DS wearing such a shirt. I suppose it could be that I am SO familiar (and enamored) with the PotC movies. Or possibly because my DS is in middle school and not such a young child?
I've been trying to understand, but I'm just not getting it.
I don't want a debate, I just want to know what's fueling the objection.
I think it's great that there will be a front only option for the shirts, for those that want it.
I don't think it's a case of offensive - I think it's a case of just not something I want my kid wearing. When we first had this discussion (way back when) I was a bit troubled by the back graphic - but couldn't put my finger on why. I knew it was something I wasn't going to be comfortable having my 6-year-old wear. Understand, he's never seen any of the POC movies, and doesn't get to watch much in the way of media. He's still quite sensitive to the images around him.
This is absolutely not a comment on anyone's parenting other than my own. Everyone should make the choices they are comfortable with - and I'm pleased that we are able to offer those choices.
In any case, since the t-**** order was some ways off I figured we had time, and it would sort itself out in the end.
And, with the new technology we're using, the willingness of our printer to handle whatever options we want to throw at him, and the ability of our shopping cart to manage options - the problem has resolved itself.
For some the issue will be cost - printing the back costs an extra $4.70 to $3.70 (depending on the size of our order) for others, the issue will be as I've outline above. I'll probably have the graphic on my shirt - but DS6 won't be getting it.
Wow, Esteri. That must have been some storm to take out your fence. You wanted to replace it anyways, right at least I hope you did.
Actually, it blew over in the last big storm 2 years ago. It was completely rotted out. It was being held up with a couple of braces we'd put in place. This storm did the braces in. So, the need for a new fence isn't axactly a surprise. The surprise is the fact the braces lasted two years!
My plan is to take as little as possible -
...
On both our 7 day cruises, we totally overpacked. I will not overpack this time, I will not overpack this time, I will not overpack this time...............
Hear, Hear. I think I can get by with two pairs of shoes. Ok, maybe three - Sneakers/walking shoes, Black sandals (all black Keens), and a pair of
Crocs. That's it. Don't like my shoes? Don't look at my feet! Yeup - I'll be wearing those Keens with my formal - how very Californian of me.
As for the formal clothing - I'm still figuing it out. I'll bring one of the salwar I got in India, not certain if I'll use it twice or bring something else. The Indian members of the crew get such a kick when I wear it. If I bring a second formal - it'll be something I make. I was looking at the black dresses at Dharma Trading, and envisioned a black dress with a red rose. Not certain if it'll be a climbing rose, or a single long stemed red rose. Or if I'll even get it done at all.
The rest will work itself out.
One thing I have figured out is that it's cheaper to buy a tux for the boys off eBay than rent one. Go figure.
