8/17/08 Captain Jack's Repossession Repo Cruise to PC thru TPC Part 2

Hi all .. I'm all booked as well ... Me and my daughter will be on board in a cat 9. This is going to be special for her, as she turns 18 on the day we set sail from LA.... Now ... How do I get a Palo's reservation for the 17th ... Is that possible???

I've tried reading this thread but got lost .... So I'm going to try and keep up from now on!

Take care ... Only 18 mos to go!

Typically, the first night is always the easiest to get a Palo ressie...most cruisers go to their designated seating to meet their servers. You shouldn't have any problem

Well I never received a call so I finally called just a minute ago. At first the person that answered said my TA (the one I'd talked to anyway) had left for the day! I was like uh what?!??

Anyway, she was wrong. She hadn't left but was on the phone- so she pulled up my info and told me what I got.

I'm on the cruise at a good price- but, it's not exactly what I'd asked for and hoped for. I had given her a run down of my preferences- so she'd know what to do if she couldn't get me what I wanted and obviously wouldn't have had time to call me to find out- yanno?
I told her I wanted one of the specific obstructed view verandahs cat 7 -with a cat 11 (didn't have to be directly across the hall- just close to that)

If I couldn't get that- I wanted a navigator's verandah cat 7 with cat 11 same as above.

and if I couldn't get either of those- then cat 6 with cat 11

And if for any reason I couldn't not get any of those combos because of a cat 11 issue- then I'd go ahead and get 2 cat 7's or 2 cat 6's if necessary. That's the rundown I gave her.

What I ended up with was a Cat 6 gty (if I'm only getting gty- why not cat 7? Surely cat 7 wasn't sold out already. The lady on the phone was a bit surprised by the prices I had, lower than she expected and then she said oh your reservations were one of the first ones made this morning so I guess that's why. If it was one of the first- why am I getting cat 6 gty when cat 6 was my 3rd choice?) and a cat 11 gty. She said they are linked- but that doesn't guarantee the cat 11 will be near. Well if it isn't near, we can't go- period.

The price with 10% discount is not as low as I saw on the other thread (about what people got/their price) so that's a bit disappointing- especially because she said I was one of the first ressies. But she did say something similar to DU had said on another thread- that they were even put on hold for over an hour on their special number! (she said they were on hold over an hour before they could get thru and some agents still didn't get thru at that time- and I said did you have a special number to call or were you calling the same number as everyone else- and she said they had a different number to call).
Anyway, the prices we got aren't the BEST in comparison to others, especially with the 10% discount- but here's what we got:
Cat 6 gty- 2 adults= $6790.48
Cat 11 gty- 2 adults/1 child = $4209.72
Total= 11000.20

Not bad really- but I'm kinda disappointed because I was really hoping for a cat 7- either obstructed view or navigator's verandah- not just for the lower cost but for the shade. I honestly liked the idea of a navigator's verandah better than a regular verandah because of the shade, more protection from wind, etc.
Are there only like a few navigator's verandahs? I know there are only a few of the obstructed view verandahs- if there are also only a few nav. then perhaps that's why I ended up with a cat 6 verandah. Maybe I can switch later but I doubt the price would go down to save me any money to do so! LOL

The price I got (shown above) is lower than some I have seen posted various places on this board. HOWEVER, the price I got (shown above) is lower than the first prices I saw for cat 7 and cat 11 when I first went online to see what the prices were- at around 8:30am CST. So even if I'd just gave up my 10% discount and OBC from Disney- I wouldn't have done any better on my own booking it online.

oh and our rebooking onboard that was originally for Dec 2007 (planned on changing that to June 2008 though) was for 2 adults in cat 6 (with room #- not gty) and 2 adults/1 child in cat 11 (with room # across the hall) was just a couple of dollars under $6000 total for both. So even if I doubled that- it would have been $12K. So I came out cheaper than that- and this way I get an extra night, ports we like, all you lovely people will be on the same cruise!!!!!, and don't have to deal with the day at PC in between back to back cruises like we'd originally planned on doing. I will check later to see if I can get my room changed to a nav verandah cat 7 if the price is cheaper. If it's NOT cheaper or heaven forbid even more expensive by that point, I guess I won't switch... but I was really hoping for a nav verandah rather than a regular one. :( And this gty business makes me NERVOUS. They aren't guaranteeing our cat 11 would be anywhere near our cat 6! Scary.

But I thought skipping meals while reading this thread was the official Pre-Cruise Diet Plan? :confused3

Your post (quoted above) is from 9:35AM this morning - and it is now 2:11PM and it has just occurred to me that all I had to eat today was a single bananna. I'm starved. Since waking up this morning to follow and analyize the pricing - plus get the kids ready for school, fed and transported to their classes I have since returned to read each posting this morning carefully to follow the news!

Am I the only one - or are there legions of us doing something similar to me? At any rate ... I am taking my time to get caught up as this pregression of info is of serious interest to me (wonder why eh?... my little group just spent 10s of 1000s on this voyage).

Alas ... I gotta eat and I gotta take a break. Forgive me for posting a quote from over 20 pages back!

Cheers,

We made it! Room 5131 on the EB Repo. We paid $1922 per person for a cat 11 including insurance. We look forward to meeting all the DIS folks who have been so helpful over the years. My wife hears me talking about Veranda Man and we can't wait to meet you. Good luck to all. :cool1:

Still no e-mail with a price from my TA, but I know she was busy, so that's fine. At least I know we're on the ship with you guys!

It's just like today is the longest, most intense episode of the Price is Right ever!

Mike

Still nothing from my TA. I've been watching this thread all day long, but I've got to close my internet for a while. I'm becoming too bitter seeing people post about cancelling now because IC or their TA got them a booking. If I don't leave now, I'm not going to say anything nice. So as my momma taught me, I'm not going to say anything at all.

I know how you feel.:grouphug:

It's really hard to read about all the double bookings while watching the prices rise and the ship sell out. The whole time not knowing if you have a cabin or how much it will cost.:sad1:

Consider yourself lucky to have ANY room let alone at a good price. I really don't think griping about why it isn't as low as someone elses is worthwhile. Your TA obviously did a great job ------appreciate it. Atleast you did not sit on hold today for 5 hours and then get hung up on.........:cloud9:

Oh my god....2 hours to get caught up from 9:00 this morning. Still waiting to hear from DU on our information but it is not looking good....

Be back later to check in again after DS drum lessons.

Don't count your chickens before they are hatched, I still haven't received any news yet.

I know our TA at DU had us booked on the repo by noon. (It was a transfer, so I had a res. # to check on DCL site. It shows the repo itin.)
Still haven't heard from them, but that is understandable. They have a lot of paperwork and updating to do. Don't lose hope.
