I'm up for Disney Transport...I lived in LA; I would much rather have Bus-driver-bob from the Doodle Bops take me to the port...I hate traffic.

:figment:

 Hows about we do this:
We'll all pitch in for the rental of some really really big vans...
Then the CA natives (you know...the ones who already know how to navigate those freeways...) could drive those vans and come pick us all up at the airport...
How many Cali natives do we have??? We could make all of the CA people be the "official DIS drivers"!!!!
Sound good??? :confused3

OK I am a Southern CA native, born and raised. I drive the freeways here regularly, but I am fairly certain none of you would want me driving unless your life insurance was paid up and you have excellent medical coverage! Although being the adventurous pirates you are, you might enjoy the way I navigate L.A. traffic. It is not for the faint of heart me mateys!:drive:

Now DH is another story, he is a very good driver. I could be his navigator and be oh so helpful in providing the step by step instructions that he loves so much. Please ignore any fighting that follows my attempts at being helpful.

After 2.5 hours, I'm finally caught up, just in time to take DD to the high school for the school musical practice, and I do need to start gathering papers together ot get my income taxes filed. I usually have them filed on Feb. 1st, I haven't even started getting them ready yet. :faint:

If I can survive NYC cab drivers in rush hour traffic - I can survive anything!

Long Beach is closer and John Wayne/Orange County is closer still (by 4 miles). You have to weigh a few things...(a) more direct/non-stop flights to LAX than the others (b) usually cheaper to LAX (c) LGB much easier to navigate (d) SNA closest and friendliest and also easy to negotiate from plane to bags to car rental to the freeway. But driving on the freeways? It's no joke if you aren't used to it and you're there at the wrong time of day :crazy2: 3 freeways from SNA, 2 from LAX or LGB Correction: It's not the freeways that would get you, it's the interchanges!

Thanks a bunch! I'll start looking into the flights now to get a feel for prices. We like to fly out of a small airport 10 minutes from our house. There is a huge airport 30 minutes away, but there is lots of traffic that way. I like to avoid traffic with DH.

Personally, I love driving in LA. You go 90 mph and you're going WITH traffic. DH believes you should keep to the posted speed limit (now you see why I prefer him not to drive there . ..LOL). He means well and he's a very safe driver. I just don't do well sitting in the passenger seat.

I just talked with him and he suggested finding a way so we don't have to rent a car in LA. Phew!::yes::::yes::::yes::

*GASP!!!* My what a slacker!!! One might think that you spent your entire day yesterday consumed by booking a cruise or something!! Sheesh!! :sad2: ;)

I didn't ask about the Disney transports.....are they only offering from LAX? And I'm wondering if we arrive the day before, will we need to arrange transportation to/from hotel back to airport in the morning like MCO? (if we do not stay at a Disney resort...)

Andrew---is it a cholesteotoma? Remember my DH is an Otorhinolaryngologist so if you need him to pull any articles or anything for you please PM us and I know he would help you in any way he could with information.

You do realize she might have just made that word up & we wouldn't know the difference?? How long did it take you to learn to spell that, Judy?? (I couldn't spell Lieutenant until I was married to one.)

Great - now I need to get the diet coke off my keyboard. :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
Sad - pirate had better medical benefits than I do.

We'll have to start another thread for the relatives to "meet" on....

They can have their own organized activites... that way what we do here remains a secret.... shhuuuu.... don't tell Lisa....

Hey, I'm all for keeping the relatives elsewhere! ;)

LOL! I was thinking the same thing! I don't think I'd ever spell that one correctly!

BTW sk8ingmom....dh is retired military. Army reserve. He was an Assistant Professor of Miltary Science (taught ROTC). And....I also have a Drew. He's 11.

Are there any plans in the works for a group tour of DisneyLand before the cruise. I'm starting to look at hotels in the area also. Any ideas?

We don't even go to WDW with other people in our family. :) We will be there for 5-7 days before the cruise but will be meeting friends from our last cruise a couple days.

All this talk about flying is reminding me that our flight to LAX will be 13 hours !!! :crazy2: :sad1: :sad2:

David

So we have the Drew trio.....oh my it ought to be interesting in kids club

Can you believe in my geekiness I bought DH & DS12 iPOD nanos for Christmas. Still none for me. I'd love one of those iphones, though . ..

LOL! I am considering getting the kids the small IPOD shuffle for Christmas this year. They should be good for the plane trip to CA.

I spent most of this afternoon speed reading the posts. When I left work we were at page 499. Came home and caught up.

I feel like I'm shoveling brown bricks against the tide.
