FUN WITH FOOD COOKIES FOR KIDS!

Candy Cane Cookies
1 cup butter or margarine
1 cup sifted confectioners sugar
1 egg
1-1/2 teaspoon almond flavoring OR 3/4 teaspoon peppermint flavoring
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 1/2 cups all purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup crushed peppermint candy
1/2 cup white sugar

Mix butter sugar, egg, and flavorings thoroughly. Add flour and salt, Mix well. Shape 1/2 of dough into a disk and wrap with plastic wrap; color remaining dough with 1/2 teaspoon red food coloring. Chill for at least 2 hours or until easy to handle.

Preheat oven to 375 F. Roll pieces of each color into 4" strips, place side by side, press together lightly and twist like a rope. Place on baking sheet. Curve top down to form handle or cane. Bake 9 minutes. While still warm, remove from pan and sprinkle with candy and sugar mixture.

Chocolate Crinkle Cookies
kids love the messiness and the magical transformation


1/2 cup vegetable oil
4 squares of unsweetened chocolate (melted)
2 cups granulated sugar
4 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla
2 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt

1 cup powdered sugar

Mix oil, melted chocolate and granulated sugar. Blend in one egg at a time until well mixed. Add vanilla. Mix dry ingredients together and stir into oil mixture. Cover and chill dough for several hours or overnight.

Heat oven to 350 degrees. Drop teaspoon of dough into a bowl of powdered sugar to lightly coat (dough will be sticky-you are using the sugar to 'flour' your hands). Roll into balls and roll the ball of dough around in the powdered sugar until covered. Place the balls of dough about 2 inches apart on a greased baking sheet. Bake about 10 to 12 minutes. Do not overbake. Overbaking changes the texture of the cookies from a soft cookie to a harder cookie.

Makes about 5 to 6 dozen cookies.

That's slightly more than we are paying for the same room for 4! I gotta assume that is for 2 adults.

Can't get EB to show up. I just priced WB for Cat 9, 2 adults, 2 kids = $ 9,169.16

hey everyone! it's been a while again...i seem to not be able to keep up here...it's been super busy at home. i can't believe we are at the 9 month mark...it's coming so fast!
anyways, hope everyone is doing good, and gearing up for the holidays. we are trying to get ready here!
i just posted a thread on the main board, cuz i'm trying to figure out the airfare thing. i'm not finding any good rates...has anyone here found decent rates? if you could take the time to read my thread, i'd appreciate it. i don't get on the comp too much at this time, and when you post answers back here, i seem to not get them. so if you don't mind sharing if you got your flights booked, that would be great!

Trevoy got hurt playing football today. He fell and hit his head hard on the concrete. He's got a skull fracture and swelling on the brain. So far his neurological tests are all fine. He can respond and move whatever you ask him too. They said it's a small fracture but they are still being very cautious. They've transferred him to a larger hospital 30 minutes away, but they have a pediatric ICU there.

And then when I called my mom to tell her, I found out my aunt probably won't make it through the night. She's my mom's only living sibling. She has a ruptured bowel and is on a ventilator. They can't get her stabilized enough for surgery. She's down in southern CA, about a 9 hour drive. My mom is torn. She doesn't know whether to stick around here for Trevoy or go to see her sis. Although it looks like it may be a funeral she'd go down for.

I just happened to come across the one and only room available while looking at the excursions just posted today.!! This rate was for two adults with insurance and transfers and taxesconfused3 ).
