I must say I think DCL have done a very silly thing, they are an expanding company ordering two ships and after two years of bold moved to the Med and west coast, they 'contract back' into the Caribbean only, I was expecting something special, maybe 10 night Caribbean cruises, but one change of port form the usual trips is a stupid move at a time they should be approaching new frontiers, Alaska, or Europe.

A lot of people were upset that the Magic was gone from Port Canaveral for two summers in a row. So for those people, I'm really glad that she will be doing 7 night carribean sailings.

I guess the alternate port idea was an attempt to change things up for repeat cruisers while not alienating a loyal customer base. Maybe they're trying to keep interest in the Carribean cruises. With four ships soon, and the obvious tie-in to WDW vacations, I would assume they'll keep one of the ships there.

I was interested in the 2009 intinieraries, but it would have had to be pretty spectacular for us to book a cruise then. I'm much more interested in the new ships and new itineraries for 2010 and 2011.

In any case, I think it's great that you, Andy, and any of the others have booked cruises for 2009. I know you'll all have a fantastic vacation!:thumbsup2

I still have 5 finals next week, but I'm celebrating anyway. It's one semester closer to graduation!

Cheryl, I have been doing the same thing, pulling things out from all over. I have everything wrapped--but I am still tying bows on to them. I have more fun making the presents pretty than I do buying them. :goodvibes

Can you come over and do our wrapping. I know Cheryl will be helping me wrap, cough, choke, chuckle.:rotfl2: :rotfl: Godda love her.

Mike I understand your point, very well ,but, the Wonder is in the Caribbean 12 months every year, the Magic has been there nine months each year, September to May, and most cruise lines leave the Caribbean during 'low' season' in the summer.

Having committed to two new ships and of course they then have to expand to new places, having being very bold going to the Med and it worked well, and then a return to the West coast, sold out quickly, to retract to the Caribbean is a bad move, they could have at least tested out 10/11 night cruises to Southern Caribbean during the summer months, that would be new and interesting, but basically its just 7 night eastern and western all year with the odd new port.

And yes I booked one!!!!!!!?

Disney is far from rocket science!!!! ;) I loved the 10 day but I felt just a new port on each cruise was not enough entice me. I guess I will be waiting for the new ships.:rolleyes1

pirate: pirate: pirate: pirate:
What's a pirates favorite thing to do with his wife-wench?
pirate: pirate: pirate: pirate:
Arrrgue!
pirate: pirate: pirate: pirate:

Oh! I am SO tempted to turn this one into another Challenge. Nah. We'd get in trouble.
.

Like "what is the favorite thing for a wife-wench to add to her pirate's rum?"

"Aaarrsenic".

I brought back some Disneyland Paris maps from my visit in August. PM me your address if you'd like me to send one to you.

Thanks for the offer, but SWMBO picked up maps when she was in Paris on business last July (which is what started this whole 'go to Europe instead of cruising with you guys' change of plans).

We raised fish before we had children. Sounds like you had "ick" from the store. There is medicine but it really never worked for us. The new fish should be quarantined before introdcing the new fish in the tank.:goodvibes

The decorations are great. I love Christmas time!!! I just hate all the sn*w we are having right now!!! I can't believe the presents are wrapped!!! I just spent 5 hours trying to find all the gifts I bought and hid throughout the year.:lmao: :lmao:

We actually did quarantine the new fish for 24 hours. What we didn't do, which we had in the past, was put in the tank separator (to divide the tank in half). That's because it is dirty and sitting in the basement and would have had to have been cleaned and we were lazy and well, see what happens. We're pretty positive it was a bacteria infection in the gills based on the symptoms.

All our shopping is done, we hope, and all wrapped, we hope. Thanks to the snow, we aren't going to get to go out and get our second tree like we planned so we are probably just going to go with one in the LR this year.

yep, the pirate: 's joke....is most defiantly an "loaded" cannon?

* where the smart swabbies...make sure..it isn't pointed..in their
vicinity...before firing off their "wish list", :rolleyes1

...but if one is asking me, i would have chosen...a different response...
...while its safe to say, my lil'cutie wench..would probably chosen
another ...answer..beside "my heart's desires"...like "shopping for booty".

...dear micmse, i don't want you to "feel" left out...so if i could, i would send
you "all" our snowflakes...[ i bet you make one :smokin: snowman &
snow girl :bride: .... doing "jingle this, jingle that..all the way! :santa: ]

i guess the west bounders have alot rooms opening up....wonder how they
doing with us?....its just this nagging feeling....where i feel they going
"call us all gty @ the same lifeboat drill & toss all the room keys where
we must take what we can?

dear pdger...since we're just on the flipped side...{ appox. 1-1/2 hrs from
cincy....guess who got...all your snow??? don't worry, we'll saving
it for you guys, :flower3: }
...they chopped up all those stories & pics..so iam going half to get the
scissors out...& re-copy...

gosh , darn..i sure hope....we don't have snow..on dec. 22,...when we're
flying out...:scared: , * we got caught in a blizzard in 2003, right before the
virgina mountains range..& 2002, we had to drive thru a snow storm..& just
made final boarding....

Agree, when you expect them to expand a bit more he contract back.

Personally I think they made a good call in bringing both ships back to their home base after having the Magic away for 3 out of 4 years. Some people want more than just 3/4 day cruises during the summer. You draw back in the people who have been complaining about the Magic being away (and there have been quite a few on these boards who have complained and said they would be sailing other lines in order to have a longer cruise).

With two new ships coming, there are many opportunities to take the ships to new itineraries.

I understand that, but they could maybe had made the May - August ones a bit more special, say 10/11 nights like the Med.

If you look at the main boards there are a hole lot more people complaining now on the ones released, the prices, the ports of call etc.

The Dispodcast, ( which was mostly wrong) said the Wonder was being trained up for 3/4 & 7 night Caribbean cruises, that would have been a great idea to keep people happy in the Caribbean and release the Magic.

Whilst we know part of this, intersting article on the DIS:-

Disney Cruise Line staying in Port Canaveral in 2009
Dec 5, 2007

Disney Cruise Line will keep the Magic at Port Canaveral in 2009, ending its three year summer oddyssey to distant destinations.

The Disney Magic will be visiting St. Croix and Tortola on select Eastern Caribbean sailings in 2009.

Disney Cruise Line was recently fined $107,000 when it did not meet the mooring quota required by Port Canaveral to maintain its exclusive use of the terminal located there. Disney docked at Port Canaveral 139 times out of the 150 required according to this agreement resulting in the fine being imposed. The Disney's Magic being based in the Mediterranean created the shortfall.

According to Tom McAlpin, Disney Cruise Line President "The $107,000 is a nominal amount. This decision has nothing to do with that. We wouldn't make this type of decision based on that kind of fee." Mr. McAlpin stated that the 2009 Caribbean sailings are a result of guest feedback.

Once Disney's contract with Port Canaveral expires in 2008, is remains renewable annually for the next 40 years.

"The nature of our business is that we have assets that are mobile," McAlpin stated. "We have a great relationship with Port Canaveral and our goal is to continue to do business with them."

Sorry you missed it by one day. There is no decorations but the cast throw a Great party on the deck at night. The children have stations to get bags of candy and adults can get some too!!!! The crew put on the Michael Jackson Thriller Show which was incredible. It is amazing how many people do really dress in costumes and not just pirate. Anything you on Disney is fun.:flower3: You will be celebrating your anniversary anyway. You shouldn't be participating in too much DCL night life.;) ;) Did I make you blush???:goodvibes

DD finished her last final of the term last night. I know how happy you must be out of classes.

Went to take the trash out at work this morning and saw the prettiest sunrise....had to take a picture. If you look to the upper right, you'll see the moon and the north star.
