YoHo Pirates! I've been MIA for a while due to life interfering with my web time - my assistant quit on me (with less than 2 weeks notice!) and am in the process of doing a major remodel to our living room (picture old nasty 70's paneling being replaced with lovely two tone walls and chair rail, new floor, fireplace, etc and you get the picture!).

Welcome to all the newbies - you've really stumbled across a great bunch of pirates IMHO!

We still haven't booked return air but I'm waiting for SW to open up their rates in the spring - they have the only non-stop from MCO to Albany and even though it leaves a couple of hours arfter the earlier 1 stop flights it arrives over an hour earlier, so I think that the choice is pretty much made.

While out shopping for new furniture I did stumble across a couple of dresses that are just perfect for the semi-formal nights. Just need to get the dresses for formal and princess night now and I'll be all set (of course that presumes that I'll be hitting the gym big time between now and next August and losing all the weight that I've managed to put back on over the last several months!).

Sending prayers and pixie dust to all that need it! Good luck this weekend at the bride dive Chrissie!

Hey Lorri! Yes LIFE does get in the way of our web time:rolleyes1 ,
Hopefully, you get an assistant that will stick around and really be a help to you. Can't wait to see pics of your remodel job:goodvibes

Debi...How long did Harley have to wear the Elizabethean Collar after his surgery?
The Vet said yesterday that Bo (poor fella!) should wear it for 2 weeks! That seems awfully long to me.....:confused3

I finally, FINALLY get to start physical therapy and take baby steps. Won't be long and I'll be walking upright again! :cool1:

Two weeks would be horrible....

When Abby was spayed... she had one of those other stretch type collars (not the UFO head kind)

The vet told us that if we were watching her or nearby then there was no reason for the collar. (it's basically only so that they can't lick or pull stitches)

I only used it when we weren't there and she really didn't bother her stitches (and she had alot too due to fixing an umbilical hernia too that she was born with)

Don't laugh at this, but they did say that if we were watching him, he could wear "granny panties" with a special hole cut in them for his wee-wee......I know he'd be humilitated, but it sure seems a lot less cruel than watching him bumping into everything.

And thanks!

Quick drive by to say DS will be coming home Friday :cool1:

Thanks for all the prayers and well wishes. I'm sure they helped. We've seen a lot of improvement but still have a long road ahead of us.

MY brother in law in Boston just sent me this link from the USA Today - talking about Cartegenia. He adds he finally got the Disney DVD I ordered for him back in JANUARY from DCL. Yeah... it's been only 10 months? Anyways ... there is the link :

Tom, it looks very nice, even if you may be a little tighter on the space. Enjoy. (BTW, that Catherine place sounds pretty screwy:rolleyes1 )

Enjoy DL, you make me jealous getting to get a Disney fix so often.:goodvibes

Paula....

It's not exactly as if the proximity comes without a PRICE. The real estate prices out here have me squeezed into a 2100 sq foot home where the national average (AVERAGE) is 2400-2500'. The tighter hotel room should be survivable fer us. SO of course, I'm no where near what some folks enjoy with 3500'+ of house <wink>. However, I can say... I just got a property tax bill and I'm grinnin' at the accessed value! Thank YOU Howard Jarvis for your tax reforms - because we've been in this same home for over a decade plus we bought wel under prevailing values back then - so my basis is like one from 2 or 3 decades ago! Plus my home is older somewhat - so it has more LAND then newer construction. SO yeah... the P-tax money saved against current valuations is enough to buy a condo in some parts of Socal ... after a few years of saving and continuious reinvestment of the P-Tax difference from when I bought to todays' values. Yeah - we stay put for good reason - we're not sweatin' the race against the Joneses thing - and we are simply happy in an understated and simple way.

On another note - Alicia is stomping around this morning - a stock her Dad recommended is up 700% in just 2 years - and he kept telling us to buy. Plus it's up 400% since February. He did tell us in December to buy a little and it would pay for the visit to Hawaii AND our Disney Cruise next year. He was right. So maybe we're NOT as happy as i wuz saying above < heh-heh-heh >

I vote for Hong Kong or Japan!!! Both have the Theme Park!!!

Oh Crash, I am soo glad you are staying at the other place.:woohoo: :woohoo: Remeber "Bates Motel?":rotfl: :rotfl:

I am only human (really) and make mistakes like anyone else...

I booked a Magic cruise once and neglected to check our location was FREE of common defects. Well - we were located directly under the ENTRANCE to Rock'Bar D ... and all nite til like 2AM we heard the droning of the disco beat and random stepping of party going folks entering and exiting.

mousekateerck_shot1_white.jpg

Now - to fully appreciate the depths of my plight... switch your "bat channel" to think of this... on another occasion I was chatting with my neighbor Andy across the street on his driveway - and some mildly curious remarks were dropped - whereupon from ACROSS THE STREET my charming spouse yells out "I HEARD THAT". Andy and I paused to look at one another with mock shock and mild humor. Andy goes (in quieter tones)... "Wow - how on did she hear THAT from over here?".... where upon Alicia yells out "I HEARD THAT TOO!". We were then struck to silence for a moment before we both started laughing out loud!

Of course now that Crash changed his post, it looks like I just randomly, publicly reminded myself to buy alcohol and illegal drugs - but whatever.

Oh, look - there are J.R.'s nice child service people at my door....

WHAT???

ME EDIT MY OWN POSTING?

What on Earth ARE you talking about?

Remember....

I AM INNOCENT!

Monica -

- that's very good sounding news. Perservere and lavish patience here. You and your family shall prevail! We'll include your challenges in our prayers.

Hi everyone!

Popping in to say hi!!

Sending out well wishes to those who are not feeling their best!:grouphug:

Saying Hi to our knew pirates! Welcome ARrrrggggh! :yay:

And wanted to share some news!

I won a chance to do a "cake dive"! Me and 4 other brides to be jump in a HUGE cake and look for a set of wedding bands....you find them you WIN them!!! It is on Sunday and I am soooo excited!!!!-Wish me luck!

Chrissie

Chrissie: I've NEVER heard of this before - so naturally, I had to google it. ANd I found a couple of web pages describing it - with a few pictures! ANd I must say - it sounds like it's gonna be a LOT of fun! Especially considering you have a 1 in 4 chance of winning the wedding band. You should get a clearance cake from the market and have your spouse cut it in half and hide something through the bottow of each half. THEN let you "practice" diging through each half to get some "experience" at doing this? Assuming you've never donw anything like this before.

Anyways - here are a couple of photos fro a web posted cake DIVE:

20050220Action.jpg
20050220Winner.jpg

In the example above the contestants had to dig through the cake to find a buried TRINKET. And the winner who found the trinket gets a pearl necklace show above.

So - on another note - I got my ferry reserved. It's a much shorter drive fer us - but the boat ride itself is longer now - 2hours instead of just over 1. Pluys itcosts a little more - understandably.

Aside from that Disneyland was nice tonight. They had all kinds of Halloween decorations up. I shot a few photos of Mickey and Minnie in thier halloween "finery". Plus a bunch of nite time shots from the parade - until my battery ran out. I was minimalist tonight and pared down our load to the bare minimum. Plus - my battery was depleated from the shots I took of this mornings' morning at the pumpkin patch farm.

As for tomorrow - I got some lite work plus the little one shall be in my care... until the afternoon when we have soccer practice scheduled.

I finally, FINALLY get to start physical therapy and take baby steps. Won't be long and I'll be walking upright again! :cool1:

Now STACE,

Yaa-Nooo we'll be rootin' for you with a tremendous chorus of Encouragement!

Well, everyone says to just jump in so I will. I am pretty sure we will stay at .... [edited] ... I can't wait to see DL again. That's where it all started for me as a kid growing up in LA. ....[edited....!!!!

OK...

For a change of pace - I'm gonna quote from a couple of FUTURE postings!
< heh-heh-heh > .... so with that... may I say my Disney memories began the same way with the ticket books (MAN!... gotta love the way we coveted those "E" tickets, eh?) and the fun those spinning tea cups posed!

Yaa-nooo.... I live in Westlake which is right next door to where you used to live. We remember the Northridge Quake like it wuz yesterday! I remeber looking at real estate back then... and it's like almost every house on the market had some signs of quake damage or repair. As you kno - many homes were knocked clear off thier foundations and red tagged for demolition! We had 6 or 7 billion in damage as I recall!

As such, I'm terribly sorry to hear your homes were lost to the Quake. The most important thing though is you survived alive to talk about it while being close to the faults' epicenter.

Good morning all. TGIF! And payday too!

I had to re-read this! I guess it's better than jumping out of a cake. :lmao: Good luck!:cake:

You've got that right Liz!!! :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Woke up this morning and the temp is about 30* colder than it was on Monday, plus it's raining making for one miserable start to the day, but at least it is FRIDAY!!! :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

G'mornin' pirate:s

Well at least it's Friday. I have to rush around after work today to get the dog dropped off at the million dollar kennel, pick up the kids and head to B-more. DH is running the Baltimore 1/2 Marathon tomorrow and the kids are doing the fun run. I'm, ummm, race support!

This is how lovely this place is: I'm leaving work at 4:30 and I am terribly concerned about making it to the race site by 9pm to pick up their race packets. I live 15 miles from work, Baltimore is about 60 miles from DC and I'm worried about making it in 4 and a half hours!

This is why I don't have plane tickets for TOAL. I'm not convinced we'll be here next August!

YoHo Pirates! I've been MIA for a while due to life interfering with my web time -

Lorri's back! YAY!
I can't wait to see your new room.

Debi...How long did Harley have to wear the Elizabethean Collar after his surgery?
The Vet said yesterday that Bo (poor fella!) should wear it for 2 weeks! That seems awfully long to me.....:confused3

Our other dog, Cuya, has surgery when DS9 was 6. His comment about the white Elizabethean collar on our black lab was:
"Cuya looks like a flashlight."
:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

We call it a flashlight collar.

Dog name pronounced K-eye-a. As in K-eye-a-hog-a (Cuyahoga) the river in Cleveland

I finally, FINALLY get to start physical therapy and take baby steps. Won't be long and I'll be walking upright again! :cool1:

Great news Stace!

Quick drive by to say DS will be coming home Friday :cool1:

Thanks for all the prayers and well wishes. I'm sure they helped. We've seen a lot of improvement but still have a long road ahead of us.

More great news Monica!

Good morning everyone and HAPPY FRIDAY! I am home from school today and was home yesterday too. DD9 has the chicken pox  She had the vaccination so its mild. Basically she is still Ashton with pox all over her  , she is not sick at all nor is she running a fever. Her and I are gonna have some fun in the kitchen today making some cookies. I am in the mood to do some cooking, we have finally gotten rid of our heat wave - it was only 70 here yesterday - big change from 95 the other day. Whenever it gets cool outside I am ready for some comfort cooking!

I did manage to call DCL yesterday and cancel our air portion of our cruise ressie. Our air add on was $2100 so that saved us a bit of change. We did buy our airline tickets already and for both flights for all four of us we spent $1300 so all in all we saved $800 by booking our own air. Enough to pay for Hojos and some of our DL tickets  Still need to book transportation to HoJos on Aug 13 & transportation to the port on the 17th but I think we are in good shape!

Hope all has a great day today! Special hugs to anyone who needs it:goodvibes Sue

Well, everyone says to just jump in so I will. I am pretty sure we will stay at any DL resort that we can scrap up. I don't want to stay in the tall one - I lived in LA for 30 years and got hit really hard in the Sylmar & Northridge quakes. Actually lost our home in the NR quake - as did mils and sils. I am afraid of those darn things!!!

Anyway my dear son is sitting next to me suffering from some strange diseases called something adenitis - the lymph glands in his abdomen swell up and cause lots of pain. Spent all day Wed at the hospital thinking it was appendicits. This is a new one on us!! We are the unlucky med family!!

Tournament weekend for both little ones. My daughter has a soccer tournament and my son has football playoffs starting. Its getting nippy here too. And my bil is a navy pilot who is flying his own plane here this weekend for some reason - that will be fun for my son to see...My mother is supposed to be flying in today from a long trip to Europe - but she never tells me time, etc. I guess she expects me to just circle the airport all day!!

I can't wait to see DL again. That's where it all started for me as a kid growing up in LA. We are purposefully not getting a car so if any relatives want to see us, they ahve to drive to DL. That shd cut down on their visits!!!! They are all far flung and don't understand what a pain it is to drive to Poway, then to Valencia, then back to San Diego...all in one day!!!!

I finally, FINALLY get to start physical therapy and take baby steps. Won't be long and I'll be walking upright again! :cool1:
Great News.. PT is hard but I know you'll do just fine..

Quick drive by to say DS will be coming home Friday :cool1: .
Glad he is coming home.. and it doing better..

Cold in Chicago today.. but it should get warmer ( 60s) for the weekend. Varsity has an away game tonight.. I may not go.. I am a fair weather football fam and tomorrow Eric's freshman team plays so I'll get a chance to freeze then.. plusafter or during the football game the Xcountry team has conference meet in another town and I get to see Geoff run.

DH is still researching the airfare deals. He said if we leave Sunday am that it is cheaper then Saturday.. but I can't handle the stress and anixiety if the flight gets canceled or is late or ???? His planning horizon is very short (like Lunch) unlike mine so he is really only looking to make me happy.. and I'll be happy when he gets this airfare booked.. But I really think that he is not moving quickly 'cause we don't have a firm committment from his aunt to watch the kids while we cruise..

Welcome again and quite the jump in there (way to go!!)

:grouphug: :grouphug: for DS, hope he feels better.
