Letter arrived from DCL they are paying the $100 Panama Canal fee as a good will gesture for all those who booked the Cruise, East & West. All charges will be removed within 10 to 14 days.

Just got that email today from our TA, was very happy to hear that...more money to spend on :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: and excursions...

Debi

What do pirates do after the sun goes down?

They PAARRRRrrrrty!

We just got our letter also.

"The $100 per person charge has been removed. This change will be reflected on your reservation within 10 to 14 business days."

OK... How about this one?

How many pirates does it take to change a light bulb?

Four. One to change the light bulb, and two to resuscitate the forth pirate who got his hook caught in the socket!

Well, you never know....I have definitely seen bigger upsets! Of course, I will be rooting for the home team! :goodvibes

I promise I'll root for the Buckeyes for every game in 2008 if OU upsets them;) Hey...we did beat Illinois last year....(but so did most everyone else that played Illinois:lmao: )

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:
Suffering from Bobcat delusions, Joel?

I had the pleasure of attending that fine university during the (then) longest losing streak in NCAA D-1 history. We beat Kent freeking State my senior year and tore down the goal posts. You'da though we won the BCS-Pick-A-Bowl.

But, nevertheless...

GO BOBCATS!

I remember that game....it was designated as the "Toilet Bowl". :rotfl2: The Columbus Dispatch picked that game as "The Game of the Week". The quote I remember "Ohio Univeristy (0-10) versus Kent State (0-11)...Something's got to give."

When we played THE OSU in 1999, we went into the locker room tied at halftime, the OU fans were acting like we had won the game.... I think it was because most OU fans usually left after halftime in Athens.:rotfl: Of course, OU Coach Jim Grobe called a fake punt that even the OSU cheerleaders knew was coming...it got stuffed and then OSU really cleaned us up.

None-the-less...I'll be a that game hoping it's not too embarrassing. I'll be a small green spot in a see of red and silver :rolleyes1 .

Hi, Everyone ~

Just like everyone on this board, we're excited about the August 2008 cruise through the PC! This itinerary was announced while we were on another cruise so we put in a paper reservation for it and were lucky enough to get a stateroom for this cruise.

welcome

It may not be the same for you guys, but if we visit the USA we need to have at least 6 months left to run on the passport - you may need to check with the TOAL that some of the destinations don't have a similar requirement otherwise your DDs may have problems.

so really the passports aren't good for as long as they say- since it has to have 6mo left on it in order for you to use it? The last 6mo of the passports is rendered useless? How weird.

What do pirates do after the sun goes down?

They PAARRRRrrrrty!
LOL!

I don't have a passport. I never needed one until this cruise came up and the new laws for cruising.
Chrissie

Just bite the bullet and do it now Chrissie.:goodvibes If you run into problems, you could be cutting things too close. To book the excursions and your final depost, you need your passport before the 90 days out.

If you don't have a passport, consider the following:

  • The passports are granted by the Department of State but the use is regulated by the Department of Homeland Security. DHS is constantly in a state of flux. Recent news articles have shown that 30% or more of upper management is vacant. This means there is little policy continuity and more tendency to change mind on issues. DHS is also under regular fire and threat of reorganization from Congress.
  • DCL will not let you on the ship without a passport since the ship will be stopping in a non-Carribean foreign port.
  • The current advertised wait for a passport is 10-12 weeks - translated, that is three months. Fellow cruisers have had their passports take 16 weeks to arrive (4 months). If there is a problem, add to that time.
  • Three months pre-cruise is the refund cut off date for all categories. Wouldn't it be better to have the passport in hand at that time?
  • The REAL-ID act implementation takes effect in 2008. This may impact your ability to get a passport as having an approved state ID is a pre-requisite to getting a passport. If your state is refusing to comply with the federal mandate, you may have extra hoops to jump through to get your passport.

Thanks Tom:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 You said it all.:thumbsup2

Congratulations !!!

CONGRATS!!!! On 1000!!!!!!

Okay - I'm back to packing - Paris here I come!!

Congratulations Cheryl!!!

Thanks everyone. I am not very quiet in person either.:rotfl2:

I guess we were very lucky, both DDs expired, one went in the beginning of June and got hers about 3 weeks ago. The other went 2 weeks later (I had to go with her because she is nder 18) and we are still waiting, hoping it will come before we leave for Cancun (although she doesn't really need it for that, she just has to show proof that she applied).
Debi

Wow Debi......Will you play the lottery for me???:rolleyes1

I checked and our passports are in good shape. The girls expire a good month after we get back from the TOAL and ours expire in 6 years.
Last summer we went to Alaska. I really had to twist MiL's arm to get a passport for that trip. Made it so much easier.
Well, she should be thanking me. SiL surprised her w/ another trip to Alaska this summer and she is all set. The others she is traveling w/ are still scrambling to make sure they get theirs in time.
Sometimes Dil's do know best - even if she won't admit it. ;)

I read somewhere to that there must be six months left before the passport expires. I hope your experience is better than mine.

Hazel and Angelina spent ALL afternoon, Back to School shopping at our local mall......................

You could be in very big and expensive trouble Andy.:rolleyes1

For some reaosn I thought it only had to be 1 monthe before expiring but I will look into that further.
Looks like I have some researching to do.

On another topic- Does anyone know anything about Dinosaur Live? Tickets go on sale tomorrow am for Dallas. DH really thinks it looks great.

BIP, usually there's a passport office in the main post office. You could call & ask if the name thing will cause any issues - that way if you have to get passports, you'll already know what steps you need to take to make sure the name on the passport is spelled right.

Sorry, but I don't trust the workers in the post office. They insisted that my custody paperwork only allowed me to keep my child in California. All because there was a check box for where the paperwork was filed and it said CA. Nevermind the fact that I had a special clause put in the agreement that I am allowed to take my child any where at any time without any notice. :confused3 She had to call 2 supervisors after I put up a fuss. They finally told her to just submit it and let the government figure it out???

We're waiting for our connecting flight to Paris. Free WiFi in the airport. Thought I'd get caught up for the last time. Probably won't be back for 3 weeks now. Maybe during one of my sea days I might check in. However, I've got several tastings planned for those days, so who knows.....wine tasting, beer tasting, martini tasting, tequila tasting and most importantly RUM tasting.....darn, forgot to get a designated walker for this trp.

Take a look at the other hotels and talk to folk on the board. From what Roger and got2travel and others have said, the "off site" hotels are as close or closer to the main enterance and are significantly cheaper (e.g. $100 night).

absolutely..plus you get free breakfast at most...and let's face it, how much time do you really spend in the room anyway....the offsites don't have the Disney touches but they have great rooms and can't beat the location.

Ok, all caught up and battery is fading fast. Put the power cord in the checked luggage. For some reason I didn't think about using it during this long layover. Oh well.

Talk to you all in September.

M,try this one on for size. Several years back our accountant did our taxes and sent them off for us. A few days later he called and asked if I had anything to tell him. :confused3 "Are you an escaped con living under an alias?" ;) It seem the Federal Gov't. in their infinate wisdom, gave me a divorce! They decided that I was not married and I had to go back and resign my papers with my maiden name and then had to send copies of my BC amd marriage license to prove who I was. I could understand if this happened the first year after we were married, but we had been together well over 10yrs at this point and had always filed jointly.

Oh, that's better than my MIL introducing me as M. Maidenname. We've been married for almost 13 years and she did it last month!

I promise I'll root for the Buckeyes for every game in 2008 if OU upsets them;) Hey...we did beat Illinois last year....(but so did most everyone else that played Illinois:lmao: )

I remember that game....it was designated as the "Toilet Bowl". :rotfl2: The Columbus Dispatch picked that game as "The Game of the Week". The quote I remember "Ohio Univeristy (0-10) versus Kent State (0-11)...Something's got to give."

Hey, we even got one vote in the Coach's Poll that week...and it wasn't from our coach.

Oh, I am so awaiting a response from the "red and silver".

I don't actually recall any OU game past halftime. I think I stayed, I just don't remember...

Not a party school or anything.

I would STRONGLY suggest that you apply NOW rather than waiting. If they decide the misspellings are an issue, you would probably want a year to settle it out instead of having a fully paid for TOAL in less than 90 days. Plus if you can't get them to do it right, do you need to change your name with DCL, as their manifest needs to be same as passports???

We can definitely wait until after the rush for my husband. He's not going on the Canal cruise, but we are going on NCL at Christmas and the Mexican Riviera with the Magic in June....but on the manifest, as on his airline tix and all....he's listed as "J"....which is what his passport says and his driver's license, social security card, etc.
That's what was so weird about him getting a passport with just the "J" ....because the only thing left anymore that has his full name is his birth certificate.

What I was saying is that eventually, I want him to put it all back to his full name. But that process will take a while considering social security and all.
I just always have to be careful to get his plane tickets and the ressies on the ship under just the "J"....and I'm tired of doing that. I want it ALL to be the same.

How do you know when it's your 1000th post on the thread?

There's a passport office in every post office even in small towns? Well I did not know that... LOL

We just got one in our post office about two years ago....not even that long, I don't think. And we only have post office mail delivery...not street delivery, so I would have thought they'd offer us that a long time ago.

I see from reading Cheryl's post (10 pages ago) what you guys are saying. Not so much just to be sure Jay's name matches, but because of the "wanted guy". We've never had any trouble with having all of his documents with just the "J" and the last name until this guy stole a car and ran out on bail.
But the funny thing is, no one ever cares when we leave the country....we only get stopped coming back IN to the country. And in Miami....until they contacted the county where the guy stole the car....all they were going to do is hold Jay until the other county told them what to do. Which we found out later is illegal. So now we don't have as much of a problem with it....but I definitely want to change it eventually.

I renewed DD passport nearly 15 weeks ago. We're suppose to be travelling on the repo this Friday and her passport still has not arrived yet!:confused3  :headache:
