Greetings from my temporay dial-up...wireless is coming next Monday. I started to ketchup & decided it was better to remain oblivious...(cue Kumbaya)

Glad to see you back Lorri!
I hope you had a great time in Alaska, Mary!

I have a job. YAY! I may start 8/20 if I can figure out day care, otherwise I will start when school starts 9/4. The job is interesting with a really great organization. I'll be able to shift my hours so I can be home in the morning to get the kids off to school. DH is doing the opposite - going in at zero-dark-thirty & coming home early. He should be able to pick the boys up from after school care less than an hour after school ends. Not too bad - 2 working parents and less than an hour of daycare for my monkeys. Oh, and a BIG raise over my last job, so YAY! The downside is that it is IN THE CITY, so I'll be spending 45 min. on the Metro each way. Beats sitting in traffic, but it is still an hour and a half of my life that I won't get back. Maybe I can get a Blackberry and DIS! That's productive, right???

Besides unpacking and wondering how in the heck we accumulated all this stuff & where the heck I am going to put it, I've been shopping for my COAL - Car Of A Lifetime. It is probably the only brand spankin' new car I will ever splurge on & the one I've wanted since I was 16. Details & photos to follow!

I think I am officially having a midlife crisis. I'll be 35 in Oct. & in the past 4months I got a tatoo, ran a triathlon & I'm getting my COAL. Life is good & if this really is mid-life and I make it to 70, I think I'm doing good (at least better than any other female in my family).

Hi M! Congrats on the new job and on finding a home! We had a great time in Alaska. I can see why you are going to miss it so much. Scott is ready to sell everything and move to Sitka.

I think you are a little young for a midlife crisis. You're selling yourself short! I plan to live to be at least 100 so I can't even consider a midlife crisis until 50 minimum.

I want to be like Pamela's grandma looking great and eating ribs on my 99th birthday!

I'm guessing that 55-60 was without a restrictor.... I'm thinking of starting out on one of the slower ones since you don't have to register it.

i saw one of those at the county fair last year (the pink one) i loved it but not the white seat. i mean you can almost see all the dirt waiting to happen on a white seat.

I just checked and the same dealership has both brands....

I'll have to compare.

I changed out the white seat, hand grips, and all the inside panels to black. Your wanting a 50cc then, Buddy's come in both a 50 and a 125cc (that's what mine was). There's also the Genuine Stella It's very similar to the Vespa but they're out of production at the moment,so you'd have to buy used. Here's a better pic of what I have now.

This one was taken while we were filming a commercial for our local scooter shop. The owner wanted us to wear half helmets so our faces could be seen, I actually wear a Full Face.
I hate my butt! :scared1:

By the way, I'm only 5'3"

Hey folks, there's a thread on the main board about the $100 increase and a reporter just posted about a story he's doing. Thought someone might want to contact him. I'm not because I never got around to contacting DCL.

Hi,

I'm a reporter with the Orlando Sentinel newspaper and I cover Disney Cruise Line for the paper. I'm writing a story for tomorrow about this $100/person tax, and I'm looking for customers who have been alerted about it. If you are interested in talking to me, please call 407-420-5414 or email at jrgarcia@orlandosentinel.com.

Thanks,

Jason Garcia

While I have your name up.........how are you feeling?????
I'm feeling okay.... thanks for asking. :) Hope all is well with you and yours too. :)

All this other talk about midlife crisis: then it dawned on me... I'm 38, I've had my latest vehicle 3yrs- so yep... I guess I kinda went thru a midlife thing at 35 also and didn't realize it? It was my first NEW vehicle (although it was slightly used- it looked new, was purchased in the same year it was made- but it had lots of miles on it from a previous owner who had it for a few months and apparently drove it a lot). Around the same time I'd also lost 80lbs down to my goal weight- and got not only one tattoo but two! (which I said I'd never get a tattoo and in fact was pretty against even my husband getting one.... but then said go ahead and get one but while we were there to get his I ended up deciding to get one too and then went back soon after for another teensy one on my toe LOL)

So hmm, never thought of it that way- but maybe I was doing the midlife thing. LOL

I guess Jeff sorta did too- he also lost weight same time as me (although didn't have nearly as much to lose as I did), got the tattoo, didn't get the new vehicle but finally got the Harley he's desired for a long time... interesting to notice that ppl can go thru such life changes at around 35-40 and not even notice it. LOL

Okay, on to happier topics :)

So a HUGE brand new SuperTarget opened up about 4 minutes from my house!

And guess what's in the $1 bins? A boatload of AWE carp! pirate:

Congrats on the new Target, but sad news for your wallet.

I saw all that AWE stuff at mine. Ended up with a few CJS items.

Yes, many folks are planning on coming out early. I'm already in CA but I'll still be in DL for a few days before the cruise.

Check the website under the itinerary and pre-cruise links for info about hotels, airports, etc.

We will be out a day to two early and do DL and stay on-site with DVC points.

I don't look at it as a midlife crisis, but more of being at a place in your life where you can make better decisions and better afford the toys you've wanted. I too lost a bunch of weight, got a tattoo, got a Harley, and flew half way around the world to Tokyo.

We are coming from the East Coast as well. We made all our travel arrangements through DCL - I know we could save $$ by doing it ourselves but when you take a vacation like this its worth all the details being taken care of. HOWEVER, DH and I were discussing the other night how we should be taking advantage of DL while in CA SO I plan to call DCL and ask them if they would fly us in just three days earlier. We would keep all our other ressies - hotel at airport on Sat and transfers to port on Sun. We figured if DCL would fly us in on Wed, we could get a taxi to HoJos. That would give us Thurs and Fri at the parks and then we could check out of Hojos and take a taxi back to the airport Marriott on Sat to spend the night and rest up for our cruise staring on Sunday. Literally all DCL would have to change is the day we fly in so i hope they will agree to it. We'll see it really depends sometimes on who you talk to. I was hoping maybe Disney would do some special packages for the folks coming our to CA for this cruise - maybe not.

We are also planning this. Right now we are thinking of leaving from JFK on JetBlue and staying in the DL area off-site.

Am I the first to get this?

Dear Sara,

We realize there has been a great deal of passion and concern around the topic of the new $100 per person Panama Canal fee. At Disney Cruise
Line® we value guest feedback and thought you would like to be among the first to know that, as a goodwill gesture, we have made the decision to
pay the toll on behalf of all of our cruise guests on both the May 10
and August 8, 2008 sailings.

You will receive a letter in the mail to this effect in the near future
and all reservations will reflect the change within two weeks. Thank you again for sailing with Disney Cruise Line. We look forward to
welcoming you aboard the Disney Magic next year.

Sincerely,

Cast & Crew
Disney Cruise Line

:wave2: Fellow NE family here...lots and lots of us here are planning this. For us, we're looking into Newark or Philly. I absolutely HATE JFK or LGA (sorry NYers). We too will be arriving a few days earlier to enjoy DL and get ready for the TOAL!!!

Am I the first to get this?
I would take an educated guess that the answer is YES!

Did you happen to notice DCLs typo in the August date?

wow jumping over from the WB - is that really from DCL? Wowzer!!

That or REALLY good spam. :surfweb: I'm thinking it's from DCL - but the above mentioned Letter should come directly from DCL as proof positive.

Yup. I replied to the e-mail & it bounced... Maybe too many of the rest of us who wrote were replying at the same time?!:rotfl2:

Maybe we should start a thread on the main board to find out ?
