Karen, I used Wellbutrin (Roger correct me if I'm wrong but I think the same thing as Zyban). It worked like a miracle for me and I've been pretty much smoke free for 8 years. I've only lapsed a couple of times and it was while having a drink (or 2 or 3;) ) and I had a few but the next day I was not interested in smoking another.

Yes they are Lorri, and again anything that could possibly work should be tried. :thumbsup2

HI,
I quite smoking 15+ years ago. I was caring for my newborn godson and didn't want to smoke around him - I got the patch - and stubborn determnation. It helped that DH quit also so we 100% smoke free. Oh - I had cut way back also - to maybe 5 cigs a day when I finally stopped.
Good Luck to all of you - I've never missed it.

The rides I'm talking about are still *easy* rides. Nothing great but, a little bigger then Looney tune rides! LOL! :rotfl: My 6dd isn't close 48" Won't be for a leeast a few years...she just hit 38"!!! :rotfl: :rotfl: We always bring our Maclearan umbrella stroller everywhere we go -- the mall, Six Flags, WDW, zoo, museum...her legs would just get way to tiered trying to keep up wiht us *big* people! :)

I'm 30 mins. I live on the complete opposite place in Arlington. :) And if you are from this area I'll do a little *mommy brag* 9ds just finished up shows at 2 local theaters! He was in 2 shows at one theater this summer and 1 show at another theater. :)
Congrats to DS! That's awesome. :)

My youngest is now 7yrs old and 42 inches or something like that. I measured the other day before we went to six flags.. but I forget now. Maybe she's 44... but in any case under 48. And with just me and kids- and no other adult that means NO ONE with me (including myself) can ride any of the bigger rides. And quite frankly I don't think Six Flags is worth it unless you can also ride the big rides. We don't own strollers anymore- she's a little too big for that. She could still use the stroller at WDW though.LOL

My MIL has a saying for this....

"They come by it honest."
:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Love ya!:flower3:
You have no idea how often I hear that.
You're not surprised, are you. admit it. LOL

I'll be back later. I need to go start some dinner and pot my plant.
Pot my plant, not plant my pot! :hippie:

Girl, that thing is going to die before you even get it in a pot! LOL Get a move on... I thought you were doing that last night, woman! :rotfl:

All this talking about quitting smoking.
ugh
It does just take determination- IMO. I quit cold turkey with no patch, medication, etc. a few years ago. I had support from others including a board I went to (that now I can't remember the name of it- but it was all for those that are trying to quit smoking). I did great... except that I'd lost a lot of weight before I quit smoking and then I ended up gaining weight back. I went downhill from there- had surgery.... totally got off diet, ate more because I wasn't smoking, got discouraged at gaining so much weight- so I started smoking again. Stupid I know.. but at the time it was like either get fat or smoke and I made my decision.
Unfortunately I ended up getting fat again anyway! ugh

Right now I KNOW how I am. I will substitute food for cigs and I can't do both lose weight and quit smoking at the same time. So I just decided to finally get off my rump and get back on my diet -I need to lose the same dang 80lbs again that I lost a few years ago! *sigh* I will quit smoking again once I've lost the weight again and this time I won't go down that slippery slope of eating when I want a cig because I see where it leads eventually. The lbs just snuck up on me so slowly that I didn't think it would get THIS bad (gain all the weight back again). *sigh*

So I'm back on my diet- and someday I'll be back on my road to not smoking anymore with you guys.
Meanwhile I'm wondering if I'll see Stacey anywhere- considering she was one of the FEW people I saw on the enire cruise (after the first day/meet) and it was because we were hiding out smoking. LOL

I think it skipped a generation in our family - neither DH or myself are really big talkers (hey, typing is different!) but my DS talks a blue streak! I have actually asked him to please try and be quiet for just one minute :lmao:

My husbad can be quite social, but when he and Matt go on their various "boys trips" (Scuba Diving, Hiking, etc), they prefer to just enjoy their surroundings, not talk. They took Lisa camping with them 4 or 5 years ago. When they returned, she told me they had told her she could not go again. I asked if it was because she couldn't keep up with them when they were hiking (she is short). She said "No, I just talk too much" (I felt like saying - - "They just figured that out!!!")

DITTO!!!!! Congradulations.

Thanks everyone!:grouphug:

Thanks Paula! I am working on putting together an album in photobucket and I will post a link. I can't wait until DCL decides to send a cruise to Alaska!

You will all go with me right?

I've always wanted to go to Alaska.... (but my wife is a chicken and would never fly that far... chicken). When DCL does it... I will be there.

Hey Cheryl, you still owe me a pm so I can send you your DLP maps.

 This time next week I'll be on the plane to Paris

I am going to pm you if I ever get caught up!!!:rotfl2:

Happy Monday everyone!

I survived all the zuccini bread baking. Today I sent one to work with DH, brought one to work with me, gave one to the next door neighbor who loaned me a couple of her loaf pans and kept one out at home to eat. The other SIX are being frozen for later use! :thumbsup2 (Cheryl - If I come anywhere near Schaumburg, I'll bring one to you.)

Actually, I have a question for you Cheryl - why are you a Sox fan? Schaumburg is definitely more North than South! :rotfl2: (For those non-Chicago area folks - traditionally, the north-side is the diehard Cubs fans and the south-side is the diehard Sox fans. I'm from due West of the city, so I have always cheered for both! ... but please, please, please do not make me actually watch a game :rotfl2: )

I got a really good photo of Grandma eating her plate of ribs - so this is her on her 99th birthday!

Pamela (pdarrah)

I was a rebel when I was a child.:rotfl2: My parents were both Cubs fans so I decided to become a Sox fan. DH always was a Sox fan. We like to live up on the North Side but like the South Side for baseball. I am happy for the Cub fans. We had our moment of glory!!!

I love the picture of your Grandmother. Looks like she has a great appetite too!!!:rotfl: Stop by anytime you are up this way with or without zuccini bread.

10 days to go till we leave for the Med repo , we have got 3/4's of the packing done and I keep having to double check everything ....Pre cruise stressing I guess , but we are getting close , My Sweet Melissa's costume is almost done so we are getting down to the wire ..shew ....Then when we get back it will be the long wait for this cruise ...LOL Just think of it this way ...1 more Halloween,Thanksgiving,Christmas and all of our Birthdays here at the house and we will be off to the PC ...:lmao: :lmao:

pirate:

Todd, Do you have a direct flight from Vegas or to New York first??? How long of a flight is the trip to Spain???:confused3

Now that is a truly inspirational photo Pamela! We should all hope to look so vibrant on our 99th birthday. It looks like you have some great genes on your side!

Hi Mary, glad you are back too!!

Oh there better be!

That is so true.... so very true... so unfortunately true. :lmao:

While I have your name up.........how are you feeling?????

:thumbsup2

Just a quick hi.. just got back from WDW at midnight last night and I am dragging at work today.. meet Arlene and her Dh, ate way way to much, but had a great time..

Will stop by later once things settle down..

Glad you had a nice meet with Arlene!!!:woohoo:

Well Roger, since you are at work, can you answer a pharmacy-related question? :stir: :rolleyes1

Do you know anything about Chantix? DHs doc very highly recommends it as a wonderful cessation tool without all of the nasty side effects of Zyban. Just wondering....

Also, if there are any 'reformed' smokers out there who were able to quit, please share how you were able to achieve such success!!!

I would not recommend my way to quit smoking.:sad2: My DH had a major heart attack at 41. I quit cold turkey when the doctors brought him back from death!!! I was a over two pack a day smoker. I think it would be easier with Chantix!:rolleyes1

Thanks Lois. Nowadays, it isn't really all that hard to avoid smoking places. It's banned just about everywhere. We've personally banned smoking in the house for years, as well as the cars when DD is with us. Another big trigger for me is talking on the phone. Oops...did I just give away where DD gets her babbles from? Now I just have to spend more time occupying my hands with things like typing. :)

My trouble was food taste better than ever.:headache:

Where is everyone? Eating supper?

Yup. My DD4 is still finishing her's off (she's easily distracted). I'm also flying solo tonight, since DH is out. I poke in for a minute, then play with the girl child, then poke back in...

Yikes!!:scared1: :scared1: Still - a good deal to make. Trade smokes for a living DH. I'd do it (if I'd ever been able to smoke).

Right now, I'm on a campaign to get both of us exercising regularly in the hopes that it will make us both a little slimmer by next summer.
