You have to be the one who is ready. All those things are there to support you. But it is really something that is not just physical, but mental and lifestyle. So it involves so many changes. But when you are ready, let us know and we will cheer you on!

:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 Thank you!!

I guess I'd just have to say that I must not be motivated enough yet.
I know that it would be easier, in this day and age, to not smoke....let alone the health benefits...but I've tried Wellbutrin, the gum, the patch (irritated my skin badly), hypnotism and...what else???
So when I do finally fill that prescription (my date to do so was after I got back from my Mom's....I'm baaaack) I hope it really can help.

Come on Stace , we will do it together .....I will be there to support you and you be there to support me ......Get your Chantix and we will start at the same time ...Deal ?????

Good Luck Stace...

I have quit several times myself. Usually for 1-2 years at a time and then I'm back.
Once with the patch and twice with something called auriculartherapy ( Dont know if I spelt it right) I call it an ear zapping. Like acupuncture, but its an electronic pulse on the pressure points in the ear. It makes you skip the withdrawl symptoms.

I believe anything will work you just have to want it. Ive been back to siggies for about a year now...........not ready to give them up. But I am having a sono of my leg done tomorrow (been having alot of unexplained leg pain) 1 possible reason could be blood clots. So the 1st thing to go will be my smokes. I guess all those years of birth control and smoking wasnt a good idea. I guess thats why they put all those warnings on things

Good luck tomorrow Maureen, I hope they don't find any blood clots.

But then we won't have an excuse to go hide in a corner together any more! ;) ;) ;)

Okay....or at least...I'll think about it while you're gone.
But it sure would be nice to not have to hassle with it any more.

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: I had a smilie for that, but decided it was gross.

Thank you for NOT sharing. :lmao: :lmao:

As a by the bye, DH quit smoking when he moved in with me and has stayed pretty much smoke free since then (he has occasional relapses - called Cigars - once or twice a year). No help except determination. If you decide to do it, we're all behind you (and in my case, on account of asthma, downwind :rotfl: )

Good luck - you can do it.

I'll be back later. I need to go start some dinner and pot my plant.
Pot my plant, not plant my pot! :hippie:

We can always hide in the corner with the rum :rotfl: :rotfl: You think about , my mind is already made up ...I have to be smoke free before I am 40 so the clock is ticking for me :lmao: :lmao:

One thing I can guarantee....if you ever even did see me smoking, I would be WAAAY downwind. My husband has me very well trained. Usually I go into hiding.

Your clock and my clock are almost set to the same date....just ten years apart. I should set my goal of quitting before 50.

FIFTY! When did THAT happen??!!!:faint: well, it didn't yet......

I think it skipped a generation in our family - neither DH or myself are really big talkers (hey, typing is different!) but my DS talks a blue streak! I have actually asked him to please try and be quiet for just one minute :lmao:

My DS managed (barely) to be quiet for 1 minute the other day - I timed him!

I'll be back later. I need to go start some dinner and pot my plant.

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :lmao: :lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Every year our garden club has a couple of "potting parties" where we plant up little tiny plugs into 4" pots or 6-cell packs. Many members wanted to call these events "Pot Parties" - but some of the more conservative members rebelled! :rotfl: :rotfl:

What type of plant are you potting?

Lots of prayers and pixie dust for you tomorrow!!!

Well Roger, since you are at work, can you answer a pharmacy-related question? :stir: :rolleyes1

Do you know anything about Chantix? DHs doc very highly recommends it as a wonderful cessation tool without all of the nasty side effects of Zyban. Just wondering....

Also, if there are any 'reformed' smokers out there who were able to quit, please share how you were able to achieve such success!!! :)

We do not see that much of it here in the hospital, but talking with doc's they seem to think that it does work.

Down side are how you tolerate side effects. Insomnia, headache, GI upset. Anything that works is my motto, you won't know unless you try it. Good Luck.
