Hmmm, do you think they'd have a "problem" with this?...
My first name is not spelled correctly on my birth certificate. Well, one might argue that everything else is not correct since it should be what my BC says- but my mother says they misspelled it when they filled it out at the hospital. My BC has my first name as Shelly and all other forms of identification I have (SS card, drivers license, credit cards- etc) all have my name spelled as Shelley. Do not ask me how she managed to get my SS card with it spelled like Shelley- but that's what it's always been... and thus so has all my other forms of identification.
I grew up never even knowing this was spelled differently until many years ago when I needed a copy of my BC to get married (14yrs ago)
So our BC's are all certified with raised seal etc etc... but the only thing is my BC spells my name Shelly and all other forms of ID I have -have it spelled as I have always known it... Shelley. They won't change my BC- I guess unless I go through the motions of like having a name change (costly?) and it never bothered me before. I asked then about it being different and the office at the courthouse said it didn't matter?? (btw- you have to show ID to even get a copy of your BC- and where I got it is in the town I was born also- so I showed ID as Shelley and got a BC for Shelly. KWIM?)
Will this be an "issue"?
Can't you still transfer your ressie to Dreams?
Missed this one.
Now I mean it. Nite all..................

Yeah ...
... DU gives me pause to consider them anew with a favorable eye. And it would be nice if DCL did something to explain a little more about the extra $100 pp they're taking.
...however, let me submit that lets' not get too hot about this. Every business has it's own unique set of conditions in which they exist. YES, DCL has the billlions tied up in ships and the franchise - and they are backed by the DIsney organization - but there come times when one hand washes the other - and maybe right now DCL is washing the hands of a weaker Disney division. OR... maybe they're understaffed and missed a beat with us here so to speak.
Otherwise, we DO have a great time sailing with them. I for one want to try and trust them a little while I pursue my inquery as to the "whats" and "whys" of the extra fee. Let's be careful not to let this get out of hand.
IE - lets' investigate this cordially and with polite persistance. I tend to think we have a small chance of being right = and I regretfully suspect that DCL did things right the first time around. And maybe we don't have all the facts. Of course, I do hope I am WRONG and that we are entitled to a belated refund on port charges .... AND a belated explanation from DCL.
Cheryl...

Had to pirate this - I found myself just staring at this a few moments thinkin' about cruising, droolin' an' stabbin' a fork into this!
So that explains it, it was money day.....
Here I come a day late and a dollar short....
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!
(A little late but with all the original well wishing)
My ressie was originally booked under another TA. I don't think you can give it back to DCL and then reassign again.
(well at least not without egg on your face...since my TA will be on this cruise)
Well, we've officially sent the email...![]()
We notified DU that we will be cancelling. I wish I could say that it's because we got some good news. But it's because we HAVEN'T gotten any news that we're cancelling.
Now we're just going to wait and see what happens with some of the kids we've inquired about, and then maybe we'll plan a regular Magic cruise for later in '08 or early '09 when we know more about what's going to happen.
We took the week off work last week and went camping up in Michigan. During the week, we did a lot of talking and a lot of soul-searching.
A large part of our decision comes from the fact that the child/children we get will likely have some sort of issues, whether they be health or behavioral issues, issues with attachment, or just the normal issues with the transition into a new home. We know that no matter what children we get, there will likely be some pretty significant bumps in the road to our becoming a family, at least for the first year.
We're just not comfortabe making the commitment to take such a huge vacation while we'll likely still be in that "transition period". Who knows whether or not the child/children would be able to handle it. So after a long heart to heart, we decided that we'll cancel, and then we'll do another cruise later when we can have a better grasp on our situation.
So that's it. It's official. While we're sad, we know that it's the right decision for us right now. Maybe there'll be another "TOAL" in '09!![]()
I'll still pop in here from time to time and keep you updated on things. Thanks to all of you for all of your encouraging words over the past months. This has been a tough journey for us so far, and it seems we may still have quite a ways to go.
So thanks for being a GREAT group of folks, and I will really miss meeting you all on the cruise!Hopefully I'll get the opportunity to meet some of you on a future cruise!

What it costs
Retail Price = $27,000

Tax Credits = $2,000
Final net cost = 18,588
My actual initial cost is $22,900 minus 6,300 minus 2,000 equates to a final net cost of $14,600
Unless the US Govt passes the higher rate of tax crediting - of $4,000 (or more)!
