We got our email from Dreams as well. That is awesome! I'm really impressed with the way they have handled this issue, and they have shown far more integrity here than DCL.

I am so happy we transferred our ressie to them!!!

Today was not only Monday, my birthday, but was MONEY DAY!!! My DS sent me a gift card, got 3 pay checks from the stuidos, got a huge gift card from a consumer panel I give opinions to(don't laugh too hard, someone actually pays me to think), got extra projects that will pay me for this weekend, and then I open my e-mail from Dreams for an extra $300..

This was better than Christmas.

I used to make teddybears. I promised the girls in chat last night that I'd try to post a few pics today, here they are. I don't use a sewing machine, the bears and the clothes were made completely by my 2 little hands. They're all full jointed and stand 22". Since I've gone back to work I just don't have the time to do them anymore. I've made well over 200 bears. Used to make a pretty good living at it too.

The teddy bears are absolutely gorgeous! You have unbelievable talent!

The odds of being struck by lightning are 1 in 83,930

The odds of being struck twice by lightning twice are 1 in 9,000,000+

The odds of a meteor landing on your house are 1 in 182,138,880,000,000

You might wonder why I am posting these odds. It is because even though these are long odds they can still happen.

I say that because it appears now that the odds of the Dodd family making this TOAL are really, really slim. Things with our schedule for our work make it almost impossible to go. So impossible that we really have decided to rearrange our vacation plans for 2008.

The one slim chance is if we get transferred again after only two years. If that were to happen it would be announced in May of 2008 just a week before the 90 day mark for the TOAL. Coincidence? Maybe and maybe not. If that happens then we will see if it can be possible but the odds are slim.

But for right now we are making new plans for other TOALs. Like Andy the VM I do plan to stay on this thread but not quite as active as before. I do have another thread for our December cruise that needs attention.

Also I am going to make the September 3rd meet at DTD.

Thanks for all the fun times. I really wanted to make this cruise.

Sorry Captain but Mr Gibbs has to miss this sailing.

Brack I really hope things turn in your favor & you can join us! I know people have to cancel for their own personal reasons & it's a tough decision to make, but it makes me so sad!

I truly hope we find some satisfaction with DCL! While I can not thank DU enough for their kind gesture....I still think DCL should do something too. Not just for the money, but for the principle at this point. This is not a way to treat your most loyal customers. Like others have said, this wouldn't feel like such a slap in the face if they were offsetting some of the costs, giving us the news in a much more apologetic manner with significant prior warning & giving us direct answers to questions being posed. Thanks to all who have put in time & effort to look into the technicalities of this tax increase.

I have been MIA for months, but had to concentrate on my Med cruise and other stuff. Since this is now my NEXT cruise, I can devote all my attention to it. I have a question......originally, I thought there was something on page one that had lots and lots of vital info regarding this cruise.....siggies, activities, rosters, thread summaries, etc.....but i can't find it anymore. I also used to be able to access the Pirate Zone, but that doesn't work either. Could someone please get me reoriented? I know I can't keep up with you guys, but I'd like to pop in from time to time and know what's happening. Thanks a bunch!!!!!

What!!!! I am packed already!!!

After lurking since the winter - I have decided to start posting. My family (myself, DH, 2DD ages 4 and 7) will be joining you on this cruise. We are very excited and can't get over all the valuable info found on this thread. I have to admit I usually spend time on the DVC boards, this one always seemed too intimidating with the number of posts. Not sure if I'll be able to keep up!

Good news and bad news from my visit to the doc today. Good news is the rash is healing nicely and I "CAN" return to work tomorrow, bad news is, one of the side effects from the Lyrica is possible weight gain. Well, I gained 8 pounds since last Monday, like "I" need to gain weight.......

I go back in a little over two weeks to see the doc for my next follow-up visit. He also gave me another scrip for a 30 day supply of Lyrica. I wish I didn't have to take this, but I need it to help keep the burning sensation at a minimum. Oh, the joys of aging..........

A few more pounds is just more for eveyone to love. I do hope you are feeling a little better. Make the newbies do most of the work!!!

I presume it just happened to be Joseph who replied. But at least I have had replies, unlike others who have used the 'Contact us' page on the DCL website. In e-mails and on the phone Joseph has been pleasant and friendly, just not in the least helpful. Giving him the benefit of the doubt, I suppose he can only follow the company line. But I have asked time and again for the e-mail address of someone in the appropriate department with access to the relevant information, but he simply ignores my request.

Perhaps if a few of you could drop him a note, he will at least know for sure that it isn't just one mad Englishwoman that believes DCL are not playing fair.

I did my job with two whole pages of complaints!!

I sent a letter to his office in Celebration!!

I can guarantee you they log each and every email. My company has a similar system. And, I am sure they run reports. The difference would be if we sent to general email, it would be tracked. If we sent to a manager, it would higher on the hassle factor for them, but probably not be tracked the same way.
Obviously, it would be better to write individual letters, but the same letter would impact as well.

I added lots of my feelings about how the booking was handled too!!

We've done that combo quite a few times. Sometimes bringing a change of clothes to the water parks, sometimes heading back to the room to change then go to DQ.

Thanks! After looking at it what's going on at Kennedy, reading a review of the ride (worth the travel time), and considering our situation, we've decided to put off the trip until our next trip out to FL (2009). The boys will be 8 and 12 then - perfect for exciting an interest in science. And, we may decide to spend more than one day in order to do it thoroughly.

If you are only posting 5-15% of normal, we may not get to 70,000....

Oh goody! Crash is going on vacation. The posting rate will go down!!

Andy,Glad the burning is going away. The weight gain is a bummer. Spoke to my Dr last month and he changed one of my meds. Seems it had the same tendency to weight gain What do these people think?
DH knee is starting to act up again and it's off to the Ortho this week. Seems like yesterday he got his shots but actuall it was 5 months ago. Boy time flies when you are having fun.I know what he will say and the inevitable is closing in on him. Problem is the GP will not ok him for the surgery. We'll have to see what they say. Nite all...........

Yeah ...

... DU gives me pause to consider them anew with a favorable eye. And it would be nice if DCL did something to explain a little more about the extra $100 pp they're taking.

...however, let me submit that lets' not get too hot about this. Every business has it's own unique set of conditions in which they exist. YES, DCL has the billlions tied up in ships and the franchise - and they are backed by the DIsney organization - but there come times when one hand washes the other - and maybe right now DCL is washing the hands of a weaker Disney division. OR... maybe they're understaffed and missed a beat with us here so to speak.

Otherwise, we DO have a great time sailing with them. I for one want to try and trust them a little while I pursue my inquery as to the "whats" and "whys" of the extra fee. Let's be careful not to let this get out of hand.

IE - lets' investigate this cordially and with polite persistance. I tend to think we have a small chance of being right = and I regretfully suspect that DCL did things right the first time around. And maybe we don't have all the facts. Of course, I do hope I am WRONG and that we are entitled to a belated refund on port charges .... AND a belated explanation from DCL.

OK... enuf of that - where and when are we assemblin' for the riot and march on DCL headquarters? I'll spring for A FEW banners of protest for us to hold up for the news cameras!
