The odds of being struck by lightning are 1 in 83,930

The odds of being struck twice by lightning twice are 1 in 9,000,000+

The odds of a meteor landing on your house are 1 in 182,138,880,000,000

You might wonder why I am posting these odds. :confused3 It is because even though these are long odds they can still happen.

I say that because it appears now that the odds of the Dodd family making this TOAL are really, really slim. :sad2: Things with our schedule for our work make it almost impossible to go. So impossible that we really have decided to rearrange our vacation plans for 2008.

The one slim chance is if we get transferred again after only two years. If that were to happen it would be announced in May of 2008 just a week before the 90 day mark for the TOAL. Coincidence? Maybe and maybe not. If that happens then we will see if it can be possible but the odds are slim.

But for right now we are making new plans for other TOALs. Like Andy the VM I do plan to stay on this thread but not quite as active as before. I do have another thread for our December cruise that needs attention.

Also I am going to make the September 3rd meet at DTD. :woohoo:

Thanks for all the fun times. I really wanted to make this cruise.

Sorry Captain pirate: but Mr Gibbs has to miss this sailing. :sad1:

I'm gonna miss you Brack.

Hi Andy

No Lyrica is not a steroid. It is actually classified as an anti-epileptic medication. It slows down your nervous system (so that certain electrical conductions don't go as fast). But its primary use is in the treatment of nerve pain neuralgias or herpes.

And yes weight gain is a common side effect. Hopefully it will come off when you discontinue the medication.

Thanks Roger, I knew I could count on you or Mike to help out!!! :thumbsup2

Funny thing is, I had lost about 10 pounds the month leading up to when the Shingles appeard, once I'm off the Lyrica it's back to getting the extra pounds off again..........:rolleyes1

Welcome Princess....

Where are you at on the Jersey Shore?

Caroline is from Cape May and has 3 little girls. I think her youngest is 4 but her middle might be older than 7 (closer to 10 i think).

Caroline has been on thread hiatus for awhile but will be back in a few months.

Ocean County!

Ocean County!

Isn't that like most of the shore area anyway?

I grew up in Philly so going "down the shore" was a regular occurance.

My aunt lived in Surf City on LBI and now lives in a new community further inland in Manahawkin.

I haven't been to some of the other areas in awhile since leaving home but i have been to Wildwood/OC etc...

One of our few luxuries as a kid was season passes to Great Adventure too. I haven't been there since 1990 though....

Happy Birthday Cheryl!!!

pirate: ing this cake for you my sweetie. I hope that your day is filled with magic. HAPPY BIRTHDAY

The Jersey Shore could be anywhere from Sandy Hook in Monmouth County down to Cape May. We are close to the LBI/Manahawkin area where your aunt lives now.

If all goes well, I could be an uncle for the 7th time today. My SIL went into the hospital this morning and her labor was induced. The last I heard she was at 3cm, that was about 8:30am. I tried sending a message to my brother, but I guess he is a little busy right now...........

Update: As of 2pm my SIL was only at 4cm, but her contractions are 3 minutes apart.

This is the 7th niece or nephew on my side of the family, I lost count how many kids there are on Hazel's side of the family, as I ran out of fingers and toes...........:rotfl:

On another note, Hazel and I moved into our home 27 years ago today!!! :upsidedow

Crash, a few groundhog images now? You must be busy....

I kno... the Monopoly image is "repeated", however it does take me a while to find some images. Also, the gas powered blender is a compleytely NEW discovery. We did have a differnet model/ manufacturer last time. AND the one I posted this time has a price and place to order one in case anyone were interested.

If they keep adding the value of the panels to you home value for property tax purposes, solar is dead in NJ, no one can afford that....

As for the Property valuation thing - I forgot about that - even though I vaguely recalled there was something that complicated it in NJ. As such - it seems extremely dumb to have the property values accessed so in NJ! I figure its' tough enough to committ to doing it in California (IMO) and even so - it seems my spouse wants to wait until we return to sign the contracts. Too many things going on before we blow town... if ya kno what I mean. Besides, another bid just came in on the fax machine and I need to glance at it - and maybe talk to the guy if the bid is credible.

Time to go now - we're gonna hit the beach with the neighbor girl - then do some lite exploring today. My spouse is out of town so I gotta figure out what we'll do for dinner. My inclination is go out - but then we have some stuff that needs cooking at home.

Hello everyone,
I have been MIA for months, but had to concentrate on my Med cruise and other stuff. Since this is now my NEXT cruise, I can devote all my attention to it. I have a question......originally, I thought there was something on page one that had lots and lots of vital info regarding this cruise.....siggies, activities, rosters, thread summaries, etc.....but i can't find it anymore. I also used to be able to access the Pirate Zone, but that doesn't work either. Could someone please get me reoriented? I know I can't keep up with you guys, but I'd like to pop in from time to time and know what's happening. Thanks a bunch!!!!!

All that stuff has been reolcated here under thread info and on board activities

After lurking since the winter - I have decided to start posting. My family (myself, DH, 2DD ages 4 and 7) will be joining you on this cruise. We are very excited and can't get over all the valuable info found on this thread. I have to admit I usually spend time on the DVC boards, this one always seemed too intimidating with the number of posts. Not sure if I'll be able to keep up!

Welcome aboard, please keep your hands and toes inside the thread at all times, take small children by the hands and enjoy yourself!

Thanks for the welcome.....wanted to do a Disney cruise this summer but didn't want to take the chance of the younger one not being potty trained. I think we are just about there though. DH and I are cruising to Bermuda alone at the end of August (on RCCL) so that will have to hold me until next year!

Anyone else from NJ?

JERSEY HERE!!

Well, I gained 8 pounds since last Monday, like "I" need to gain weight.......:lmao:

I think it must be something in the Jersey air, I've gained a few too recently.... :lmao:

Isn't that like most of the shore area anyway?

I'm not going to go the route of "my aunt" or "my uncle" cause soon we get to those second cousins, etc. Yes, I'm from one of those 3 generation Irish families in Philly who though having eight to ten kids each generation was fun..... Now we are all over the area. Shore related highlights:

Some cousin relation (first once removed?) was Mayor of Harvey Cedars on LBI, a Great-Aunt owned a rooming house in Ocean City (NJ), my in-laws are in Atlantic County about 10 minutes from beach and my Mom has a place in Ocean City......

As such - it seems extremely dumb to have the property values accessed so in NJ!

You know the scene in POTC DMC where Capt. Jack points at himself and says "Pirate" in a "duh" sort of way...... I think of that when I see NJ and dumb in the same sentence.... :lmao: :lmao:

So when is the celebratory party Andy?

I'm stuck on hold on he phone - but about to sprint out the door any moment when this call is done...

I have been working 80+ hours a week with a new home business and just do not have the time anymore. Besides, when I am not typing after those 80+ hours I really don't want to be on the computer much.

Hi Lisa -
Good news your business is going well - rough w/those hours. Are the kids having a fun summer? Take care.

What's a pirate's favorite pickup line?

AAAAArrrrrr ya free Saturday night?

(and the pirate: knows Friday night is reserved for chat....)

Tom does Alicia know about this??:rotfl2:

It probably would have made more sense to Tom that i mentioned my aunt because my DGP's used to drag my sister and i down to her house EVERY weekend.

They meant well but let's just preface it to say that no A/C in a car with DGP's every week was right up there with capital punishment. Add to that factor that DGF, who drove, was half blind in one eye.

GP's would drag us out the door at some ungodly early hour and we'd make it to that McD's in Manahawkin (i think i remember when it was built even...scary) by just before the start of lunch. She'd buy us both crappy meals and then we make the rest of the trip onto the island. Before Mc D's went in...she'd stop at Joe's Hot dog stand. (ok that place was a dive..but i still remember the foot-long hot dogs.)

We'd get to my aunt's house and then change into swim suits and load up the wagons for a day at the beach. (i think my aunt packaged nearly everything in her garage in the wagon...As a kid you were lucky to get a seat and even then you had to hold onto mounds of stuff. It was three blocks up to the dunes/beach.

I remember many a sunburn/jellyfish sting/near death experience from our days at the beach.

Happy Birthday
Cheryl

I thought this cake looked yummy! :cake: :cake: :cake: :cake:

Ah..... the good ole days....

Of course that was before LBI had all the multi million dollar mansions on the beach front. I will be sure to post pictures of them after the first hurricane demolishes them.....

Thank you so much for sharing this. Do you have Joseph's email address so we can send him a little note. :)

:rolleyes1 oh so he wants the REST of us to email him then.....

Never underestimate the power of hundreds of Dis'rs with email....
He'll never be able to answer it all for weeks to come....

The e-mail address I used is the one given to me by Dreams: DCL.Guest.Communications@DisneyCruise.com

I presume it just happened to be Joseph who replied. But at least I have had replies, unlike others who have used the 'Contact us' page on the DCL website. In e-mails and on the phone Joseph has been pleasant and friendly, just not in the least helpful. Giving him the benefit of the doubt, I suppose he can only follow the company line. But I have asked time and again for the e-mail address of someone in the appropriate department with access to the relevant information, but he simply ignores my request.

Perhaps if a few of you could drop him a note, he will at least know for sure that it isn't just one mad Englishwoman that believes DCL are not playing fair. :thumbsup2
