Glad that Verandah man (Andy) is up for buying, but tight old Andrew, well has to pay his stateroom bill on the Magic next week,

Poor baby! HAS to go on the Magic next week... Awwwww.

My CP story. And to this day I will not let my mother live this down!

I was 5 or 6, so either K or 1st grade. It was during the winter. It started snowing at our house and I wanted to go play in it. My mother would not let me and told me it would snow again and I could go play in it then. Now 30+ years later, I'm still waiting for it to snow again!!!!!!!!!!! You see, we live in CA, just 10 miles east of San Francisco. Sometimes there's a light dusting of snow on the mountain tops off in the distance. But there has never again been snow down to the level of our house. (Parents are still in the same house I grew up in). My mother lied to me!

What was that? 1974? I remember that we had just moved from MI a couple of years before and while all the other kids were getting to take the day off school, my stinky parents made me & my little brother go. Their only concession was that they drove us the 5 miles unstead of making us ride our bikes.

When my parents called to check on us during one of the winter snows, my dad asked if we had enough supplies in the cellar. WTH :confused3 He thought the city had shut down and that we would have to "ride out" the enitre winter! :rotfl: I had to explain to them that jsut because it snows doesn't mean you have to hole up with a Franklin stove and some candles! :lmao:

That's why I joke about foraging for food in chat :teeth:

That sounds about right. Coming from MI, snow probably wasn't a big deal, but it was quite the occurence around here.

Ok, so these quotes have nothing to do with each other. But, I read jonesing's then move on the Jeff's and what avitar do I see? Cartman.

:rotfl:
Just made me giggle. I almost thought it was an evil twin about to make some joke about the SP reply.

I stole that picture from I think Crash about a month or two ago. He posted it on here about the time I got the nickname of "beefcake" on my other thread. I immediately remembered Crash posting that picture. I got someone from my thread to size it for me and put it as my avatar.

P.S. Don't ask me how I got the nickname. I don't remember. Honestly. I am definitely not a beefcake. I look like I have eaten a few though.

Aww how sweet!!!!

I would have to do some major begging to get Brendan to do a photo shoot like that!

Chrissie

Really? Kevin never gave it a second thought. But then, I keep hearing that we're an odd couple. 28 1/2 yrs and we still hold hands. Guess that means something, huh? :lovestruc

Hi,
Both Juie & I are researching this - iin fact, I delegated this to my daughter - she works in a High end entertainment law firm & she has a TA contact to find buses from DL to the port for us.
But, we're waiting until Jan '08 to begin negotiations - and will likely have a more accurate head count by then.
But - the price will be much more affordable than the DCL transfers from the early $ quoted. (the buses looked like tour buses to me rather than the small airport shuttle type bus) :)

Yes, as Chris said, right after New Year's we plan to get a number of who might be potentially interested in this, then negotiate a deal and get firm numbers once we know the price. Should be considerably less than DCL transfers . . .

I had Chicken Pox when I was a wee little lad, from what I understand the CP virus stays inactive in your body, but things such as stress can make the virus active again. I think the stress that I have been under at work most likely triggered the Shingles. I truly don't remember there being a vaccination for Chicken Pox (I could be wrong), but I think we might have gotten a vaccination for Small Pox when I was younger. Maybe someone in the medical profession could help us out with this??? :confused3 I know we got vaccinated for a whole bunch of stuff.

I also remember getting the measles when I was a Senior in high school........... Boy, did I get teased about that.........

Measles is one we definitely get vaccinated against & have done for years. Lauren definitely had more than I had as a child & poor little Hermione has had even more that are now routine in the UK. Chicken pox however is not one of them. Lauren had about 6 spots when she had it, but poor Hermione was covered! As a child I got German measles, but both girls should miss that as that is another routine vaccine now. I find it quite interesting how different the protocols can be between UK & USA

Pamela, I couldn't agree more on this comment.

I still have a bad taste in my mouth from my 2006 10-Day HC when I found out that many of my fellow cruisers (including one family that re-booked onboard during the 2004 10 Day HC, same as I had) were given the 10% discount for on board re-booking of said cruise. We were told that the discounts do not apply to ANY specialty cruises. We all now know that rule no longer applies. Unfortunately, I was not informed of this by DCL or my TA, so I never knew to fight for it beforehand. Once I got home I tryed to argue my point in the matter to no availe. In fact, the woman was quite curt (bordering rude) with me. There were definately two sides to the argument so I didn't see her need to be nasty, but I sincerely felt as a loyal WDW/DCL customer they could have given me the discount that was given to others under the same circumstances (re-booking while onboard). I let it go, but since it was over $1000 it is something that has left me with a "less than magical" impression of how I am veiwed as a loyal customer by DCL.

Jump ahead to the infamous 1/31 booking frenzy of the repo/MR cruises. IMO, the way that entire booking procedure leading up to and including the first day of booking was such an in-your-face, we are not intersersted in any level of Customer Service to our MOST loyal customers on these sailings, it almost leaves you speechless. Again, JMO, but I think that it was a calculated effort to drive up the tier pricing within hours, if not minutes of the opening booking bell. Again, leaving me to ask myself, do they value me at all as a loyal customer???

Now this....I feel fortunate that this is only adding $300 to our cruise. There are some with families of 4,5,6 or more and that is a huge nut to crack for an already expensive vacation. I think someone, ANYONE in the CS Dept should at least be able to explain how DCL arrived at this figure. But no, they are just gonna throw it out there, knowing I will pay it because the ship is sold out and for me it is a TOAL. :sad2:

I don't mean to sound like I think I am *entitled* to special treatment and each of these things in and of themselves could be overlooked. But, I am starting to think DCL sees me as a customer that they can treat however they see fit and I will take it becuase I am addicted to what they offer. It is starting to take on some of the qualities of an unhealthy relationship. Sorry, don't mean to sound so dramatic :rotfl: , but I think you know what I mean.

What DCL is forgetting is there are some great cruise ships out there right now that are getting better feedback (including the kids clubs) than DCL. Unlike WDW/DL we do have choices that are compareable.

OK, jumping off the soapbox.....for now

I lost my 10% onboard discount too!!! :sad1: I was on hold for 90 minutes as I saw the price keep jumping. I also got one of the highest tiers!!!:sad2: Mary Ann you just said in writing what we are all feeling!!!:goodvibes

Looks like Andrew and I posted at the same time about your drinks post Debi........

So Debi owes me a drink???:confused3 :woohoo:

Debi-you better make that drinks are on Andrew!!! ;) ;) ;)

Nice pictures Andy. :thumbsup2 Tell Hazel she did a great job!!!!!

Does anyone know what date this came into affect? We paid last week so I have my fingers crossed we got in just in time.

Paula
NZ

I got this from my agent at DU when I aksed about whether the tax applied was per cabin or per person and if there was provisions for babies, infants etc like on the fare (which should have been my clue: DCL doesn't really charge a 'fare' for infants under 2 but does collect gov't taxes and fees):

I’m afraid $100.00 per ‘warm body’ is correct. The only exception is if your cruise was paid in full prior to the tax increase.

And when asked if the fee already hit or could we pay it off now...

Yes, the increase happened on the 17th. We didn’t receive the letter until yesterday.

Mickey puzzles -- we have two in our loft with two more photomosiacs in the basement (one of Pooh and one of the castle) still to be done.

LOVE IT!
One of the fish extender gifts I received was a puzzle! I may have to put it up in our computer area/den --- that's our *Disney rooms* :rotfl: :rotfl:

Thanks Mike, I have a follow-up appt. with my doc next Monday morning, I will ask him about the vaccine shot then.

I woke up a little bit ago and found that I have a new rash starting on my chest, and Hazel said the rash on my back is a bit larger than yesterday. I hope these meds kick in soon.

I really feel for you Andy! Our oldest two children (27ds & 23dd) both have had shingles! DH & 23dd get cold sores -- so, does MIL & BIL. I think it must be something that family carries in their bodies! 27ds's case was so unique that the Dr treated him for free because ds let him take pictures and write up an article for some medical journal!
It ran near some nerve in his eye and down his face. There was actaully a chance of permenant damage!

Andy we got those lovely smallpox shots. Left those nice scars as well. WE had to retake them when we went to the Caribbean for our honeymoon in 69.I still have the yellow vaccination books from then.Rich had another bad reaction to the shot as well. Had to wear the plastic sheild for a while. Yuck

I still have to ketchup with the post. Only got to 4561. See ya later.........

I remember lining up at school in eother 1968 or 1969 and getting the smallpox shot. I find it amazing that they were able to get all of us to line up and wait nicley in line for a SHOT! LOL!!!! Dh is dark skined so he has a scar were he received the shot.

Really? Kevin never gave it a second thought. But then, I keep hearing that we're an odd couple. 28 1/2 yrs and we still hold hands. Guess that means something, huh? :lovestruc

Almost 32 years here Debi, and Hazel and I still hold hands, even with my shingles, she still holds my hand when we walk around........
