Andrew and David, hope you all are doing OK with all the rain and flooding. I was catching a bit on the news and was thinking of you all.

:lmao: Can you imagine the look on a clerk's face if you threw 2 legs on the counter:lmao:

- I thought you might not see this until you got back from Kauai - but obviously you're not THAT far from civilization if you're lurkin' <chuckles> At any rate, you'll notice that this image happens to feature itself as Tom's Shell.... meaning MY kind of pricing might be like this! And yes - you don't know what kind of counter transactions I'd be having. However, I can say that its' safe to assume I would not be at much risk for being robbed by wandering low life types. Cuz - my staff would be trained to COLLECT from THEM on the SPOT as opposed to get taken!

www.pancanal.com/eng/maritime/tolls.html

"In the case of passenger vessels, the ACP will assess tolls based on the maximum passenger capacity in accordance with the International Tonnage Certificate 69, or the vessel’s passenger ship safety certificate; vessels over 30,000 gross tons and whose PC/UMS ÷ maximum passenger capacity ratio is equal to or less than 33 will be charged on a per berth basis according to the following table. In addition, Panama Canal tolls per market segment are increased, in general terms, as shown in the following table."

I'm sorry I can't get the table to copy. However, under "market Segment"

Passenger Vessels toll per berth

Present toll N/A
October 2007 $100
October 2008 $115

I'm no expert, but it looks like at the present time there is no toll for passenger vessels

Beginning October 2007, the fee will be $100 per berth

Beginning October 2008, the fee will be $115 per berth

It looks to me like DCL is charging us exactly what the ACP, Canal Authority, is charging them.

wouldn't per 'berth' mean per cabin, not per person??

Shannon - I'm sorry about the disappointment. Hang in there and if it's supposed to happen, it will.

Omaha!!?! WTH is in Omaha??? :rotfl: J/K ;)

Not a whole lot. Except my Mom, my Dad, my brothers, my nieces and nephews.......;)

I like the line the Southwest attendants use: If you are traveling with a child, please secure your own oxygen mask first before helping them with theirs. If you're traveling with two children, pick your favorite!

My TA just called Disney and confirmed that prices increases did go into effect for everyone.... :headache:

(Except those paid off; blah, blah, blah, something about paids having contract obligational yada yada... Still not fair  )

Does anyone know what date this came into affect? We paid last week so I have my fingers crossed we got in just in time.

The Chicken Pox vaccine was liscensed in 1995. Newer is the Shingles vaccine. The CDC recommended in Oct of last year that people over 60 should receive the vaccine. One of my part-time jobs is at the Vaccine Education Center at Children's Hospital. Here's a link to some info about the vaccine:
http://www.chop.edu/consumer/jsp/division/generic.jsp?id=85349

Thanks Mike, I read the article. A question though, since I just turned 52 in April, and the article said it the vaccine was for those 60 and over, would I be able to get the vaccine at 60, even though I have had Shingles already, or would it be too late for me to get the vaccine?

Mary Ann, thanks for the cyber chicken soup, but chickens aren't my favorite thing right now............;)

Yes, although I had heard a long time ago that she said the last word in the final book was "scar" and then recently heard that although she had not changed the meaning of the ending, had rearranged the words. I don't want to talk about the book for fear of ruining it for others, but I agree with you that it was a satisfying ending.

The epilog (sp?) was weak, but the overall ending was unexpected and good

I asked my TA to inquire:

1) Where in the terms and conditions does it say that Disney is not bound by the price they offered the cruise for?
2) How they arrived at the $100 figure, everything I see from the Panama Canal website puts the figure at $35 per person or less?
3) How many more of these "tax increases" we can expect?
4) Is it true that anyone paid in full is not subject to this increase?

You need to read the footnote, there is a second calculation if the tonnage divided by passengers is a certain ratio.

Also, prior to this there was a fee to cross the canal. DCL didn't go for free, so even if its $100, they aren't deducting out the prior toll.

well, new update...
:sad2: no little dis baby born in march...at least not from us! :sad2:
not sure what is going on...but i went in for a blood test today just to confirm, and it came back that i am not pg...i took 2 at home ones that said i was, and that is what i based it on the other day. guess i jumped the gun...:sad2:

Andy, I'll double check with my boss at work today. It's recommended for everyone over 60, but you should be able to get it earlier than that. That's probably a good idea. With chicken pox, it's usually a one time infection, but from what I understand, you can have more than one outbreak of shingles. I'll let you know what I find out.

Oh Heavens, thanks Mike :thumbsup2 I would really like to prevent anymore outbreaks from this if at all possible!!!
