Diane,

I've been checking out RCCL for November when Angelina is off for Jersey Week. I decided to book us on a 4 day Sovereign of the Seas cruise leaving from Port Canaveral. I got us a Cat. H porthole cabin on deck 2, the price for the three of us, including tax, port fees and tips(paid in advance) came to $902.82, the same 4 day sailing of the Wonder that week would have been $1701.43 not including tips. This is going to be our big family Christmas gift this year. I read what you wrote earlier about your Sovereign of the Seas 3 day cruise, and thought it sounded nice. I just shared the news with Hazel and Angelina and they are :) from ear to ear. :goodvibes

Good Morning everyone, boy it's been a while since I've been on, real life put a cog in my wheel. Happy Belated Birthday Wishes to everyone I've missed. Congrats to all who got pirates. Alot has been happening, Boy Scout fundraisers such as selling food at Memorial Day Parade and the 4th of July Fireworks. Running all of the drink counters (7) at our annual Balloon Festival. I wanted to give you all a little bad news also, my dog of 12 years past away on July 5. I still look for her in the backyard, plus whenever we have a ham, we always gave her the bone and she really loved it. I had to keep her outside because she was a lab and loved people to death and I have my inlaws which are in their 80's and can not walk to good living with us. I also have a little of good news, my husband got me a gift certificate for a massage, which he never would have gotten if he didn't go and have one before I did and I leave for vacation tomorrow morning at 4AM, I am going to be visiting my relatives in Maine. Well I have to go now, I don't know if I will be able to get back on until I get back. Happy Birthday to the people I will miss while I am gone. Congrats to the people who get the pirates while I'm gone.

Margaret, you sure have had a busy summer. I am so sorry about your dog:hug: Enjoy your visiting your family. Have a wonderful time:)

Speaking of dogs, I have to share with you one of the reasons my cockerpoo Rosie is such a pain in the add. While we were on vacation, I had a friend come in & let her out a few times a day, play with her & make sure she had enough food. I left the TV on & pretty much gave her the run of the house. We put her in a kennel once & she was so traumatized that she didn't eat while she was there. When we picked her up she was all skin & bones so I swore I wouldn't put her back in one. Well I thought her being in familiar surroundings would make her happy & she wouldn't miss us too much.

While we were at BWVs I got a call that she had torn a hole in the wall by the front door all the way to the studs, she tore 2 shades apart, tore one of my curtains to shreads & even tore the 6ft wooden rod right out of the wall, and she ripped the whole bottom of one of my screens & escaped. Luckily a neighbor spotted her & kept her till my friend showed back up. Anyway, this is a dog that we've left alone & the house all day long many many times & she's never chewed anything.

I guess that was a bad idea & now we have to figure out something else when we go away. She is not friendly to other dogs so it's almost impossible to find a place to take her. I need the dog whisperer! Anyone watch that show? I love Cesar! It's amazing what he can do with dogs or really what he teaches the owners. I need him to teach me a few things.

Diane, I think she missed you guys!!:goodvibes

Good Morning, everyone!

One more week 'til the kids are back in school. In the meantime I don't have much time to DIS.

Roger--I LOVE the cruise updates. :)

Hi Enna! We sure have missed you around here. Adam is already on his 2nd week of school. This summer sure has flown by--it doesn't seem that long ago when you all were snowed in.:goodvibes

I'm just getting caught up on this thread, emails & the main board & I know this is old news, but I just got to say how excited I am to see that DCL reversed their decision on the $100 per person. I know in the scheme of things it's not much but it brought our total price up over 10K & that was really bothering DH. He's been complaining a lot lately about how much this cruise is costing us, especially when we are dealing with some major renovations on the house so we can sell it & now with house prices dropping so much, we don't think we're going to recoup our money. He also doesn't read the DIS boards, so his emotional attachment to this cruise is not as great as mine.

I was really starting to think that I should just give in & cancel, especially after just spending around $1500 for 2 OV staterooms (loved having 2 baths & 2 TVs). DH could not believe how nice the cruise was. He had himself convinced he was only doing this for the family reunion, but he was going with the mind set that the Sovereign would be a dump, the food horrible & the private island a joke. None of those things came to fruition & he was pleasantly surprised. I've been on the Sovereign before so I knew that it is a great cruise. Coco Cay is no Castaway Cay, but it is very nice. Now mind you it was only 3 nights & we didn't have a verandah, but we could do that cruise 5 times over & not pay the amount we were paying for the PC cruise. DH was saying he would gladly go on another 3 day cruise in a heartbeat, but he's not sure about how he's going to feel after 15nts. I know I mentioned this before but he gets post-cruise sickness. He is really balking & it's not looking good.

Anyway, with this reversal & our OBC credits (I love DU!), this cruise is not looking as expensive & I'm just hoping that DH will have such a time of his life, that he will feel that in the long run it was all worth it so I'm not cancelling unless I feel we absolutely have to. I'm just going to wait & see how our financial situation is in the spring & pray that everything looks a little better & DH gets excited about this cruise. Keeping my fingers crossed!

Diane I am so glad that you all enjoyed your vacation. pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: That everything works out for you all, I can only imagine the frustration of renovating to sell. :goodvibes

Ahhhh! I am finally done filing my big bad tax return for my employer

The big bad 391,620 row e-file XML was accepted by the IRS a couple hours ago.

Now I can go into vacation mode!

And finished just in time for my first DCL this coming Sunday!

Note to self, figure out a way to finish one week earlier next year!

Congrats Sil! That is one load off your back now. If I don't get a chance to chat with you before hand. Have a wonderful time on the Wonder. I know that Marge is gonna love it and will be rearin' to be on the Magic this time next year. Tell her I said hello. Remember to take lots of pics and post some when you get back! :goodvibes

Andy, your trip sounds wonderful. I hope you enjoy it. I would love to do a cruise this year but it isn't in the cards for us. Saving for the TOAL you know.

OK, I'm not having a good day. I stayed home all day waiting for the Direct TV guy. No go. Stupid trees. I am now 0 for 5 over 9 years trying to get NFL Sunday Ticket. I just want to watch the Browns from my own couch, drinking my own beer, eating my own food! Not that you really care but I need to gripe!

M, we had Direct Tv for 3 years before I finally went back to cable a little over a year ago. They moved our sattelite at least 4 times and we still lost signal everytime we had bad weather. Sorry you couldn't pick up the darn siganl:)

I think I posted earlier but welcome back!!! :yay: Diane, You have no choice.;) Tell DH we all insist you go on the cruise with us!!! Maybe get him involved a liitle in the board like I did with DH. Also any bribery or seducing is okay!!! :rolleyes1 What ever it takes!!! Besides he would not get to meet me!!!:lmao: :lmao:

Cheryl I am going to print out your post & show it to DH! I'm going to say, "See Cheryl says we HAVE to go and so that's it, we're going!" ;)

Andy you guys should have a great time! Tell us all about it when you get back! :woohoo:

Diane, I think she missed you guys!!:goodvibes

I think you're right! Too bad that she can't talk & just say, "Please don't leave me! If you do....I will tear your house to shreds!"

Diane I am so glad that you all enjoyed your vacation. pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: That everything works out for you all, I can only imagine the frustration of renovating to sell. :goodvibes

Paula thanks for the good wishes! We've been renovating for a few years now, but we've stalled for a while. Now I just have to light a candle under DH's add so we can get moving again!

Paula, are you trying to get the pirate: all by yourself?

:rotfl2:

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:
Laura I think I have been around for 2 pirate runs in this big ole long thread. Actually I just caught up to myself, so it is probably time for a little TV before I turn in early tonight. I really need to be at work by 6am tomorrow! YIKES!!:goodvibes

:cool1: Isn't it nice to see everyone smiling:goodvibes . Enjoy your cruise and it really will be here before you know it:)

Paula, I know I have never been very close to a pirate. I just had to tease you. I am really suppose to be finishing the afghan I am making for by nieces new son but I can't get motivated. I would rather be on here.

Get some rest. The alarm will sound pretty early for you.

I LOVE it Sil! Prelude to a TOAL! :rotfl:

And here I thought you only accepted payment in Mickey Bars!

A Breif History of Sk8fam NOT having Direct TV & Sunday Ticket

1998 - stupid little pink rental house (FL) - landlord said no dish. Missed most Browns games that year, we had an infant.

1999-2000 - our very first "we own it" house (FL) - stupid HOA said dish only on back of the house. Ours was facing the wrong way. Don't even get me started on owning a house that you have to ask permission to do stuff to...never again. Caught a few games at a local sports bar.

2001-2003 - bought another house (CT) - lovely wooded lot, too many trees to the south so no reception on dish. Spent many a Sunday at the O'Club watching games.

2004-2006 - bought yet another one (AK) - You know that beautiful mountain I've posted pictures of??? Lovely to look at - messes up TV reception. We were regular fixtures at the Eagle River Bowling Bar...kick off was 8 am so they had a breakfast bar.

2007 - George's neighborhood (VA) - In CT the problem was no line of sight to the south. We have one here! Nope - in VA the line of sight is SW. AARRRGGGHHH! Stupid wooded lot. Just finished looking online & we'll be spending Sundays about 30 minutes away at Kilroy's Restaurant with the rest of the Browns Backers.

Why is this a big deal to me? 1980-1993 I watched games from MY seat on the 30 yard line at old Municipal Staduim.

I am not a happy camper right now. Thanks for reading. Carry on.

I feel bad for you.

As a New Orleans Saints fan, I cant live without my Direct TV.

I'm back - what have I missed?

Well... it seems it's slow now - so I'm stepping out to run some errands.

I'm back - what have I missed?

Nothing Tom!!! I did see a picture of someone imitating Michael Jackson hanging a child upside down over a rail!!!:goodvibes

My spouse would quip that she has a crazy 40 something critter in her home too!

Not sure if it comes in gold or not. Yes you can order online. www.qvc.com

Thanks Debi, I think I will take a look!!!:thumbsup2

Guess What I Finally Got In The Mail Today???????

My new version of the CC Cards. It only took 15 weeks and 5 or 6 phone calls including three supervisors!!!!! It was three days shorter than waiting for my passports.:lmao: :rotfl2: :lmao: :rolleyes1

Oh yeah:cool1: :cool1:
My DH made fun of me when I got so excited when ours came. I have a box with cruise stuff that I put them in so I won't be searching for them next year.

Cheryl I am going to print out your post & show it to DH! I'm going to say, "See Cheryl says we HAVE to go and so that's it, we're going!" ;)

Well, I am glad that is settled!!!:cool1: :yay:

People actually have to work at 6 am.???:confused3 :rolleyes1

My work day now starts at 6:30 a.m. Had my first day at my new school today. Did I mention that I'm now the cashier? It wasn't too bad. I just wonder if I'll be able to remember 200+ names :headache: But that's better than the 400+ I had at my old school!
