Would make it a whole lot harder if we used the ties on them, though. I wonder if they're big enough to hold a lot of stuff? I realized that the wooden box I'd made before wouldn't be.

I may have to get one just to see.

Let me know what you think of it. We have a Michaels just few miles up the road.

Fear those drunk turtles.... Whoops...probably will be were DD ends up perhaps.

Reminds me of the small airport on LI which grew to a bigger airport. You had to walk out to the plane and climg the steps to the plane. Not fun int the rain!

IPT in Montoursville,PA was like that too... But somehow the runway was long enough to land Airforce One when El Shrubo came in for the LL World Series.

They only security line for that place was the xray machine as you went out onto the runway to get to the plane

Shelley/BIP...I almost forgot that you had asked...that head server's name was Aleksandra. We've had her a couple of times, and have enjoyed her....she seems to spend more time at the tables during the week, rather than just showing up on the last night for her tip envelope. And she's fun! She shares her hat.

:thumbsup2 That's her name! We had her on our last cruise. Kevin had missed dinner on Pirate Night(sick in stateroom) and she was kind enough to send me back with some chicken soup and rice pudding. She was so sweet!

Guess What I Finally Got In The Mail Today???????

Tom Adam loves his IPOd. I think that Mark (Disney Pilot) had a diiferent type--the name escapes m though.:goodvibes

Trying to play ketch up here. My computer went haywire and have been using a backup computer.
I am now back on my computer newly repaired but totally wiped clean by HP.
Wanted to reply to this. Mark had a Zune but recently sold it and is now using the Iphone for all his applications. He liked the Zune but he is a technogeek and wanted the newest thing. I have an Ipod and use it exclusively for books. I love it and have never had any trouble with it. I sometimes have to change the file names so that they play in the right order when using books but I have been very happy with it.

You don't see the resemblance?

Mike I think that you and Tom could have been separated at birth. :lmao:

Glad you had a great time at WDW. Also glad to see that Pharmacy school still has the same prerequisite, one drink in each hand.

Also Stace, if you don't want to venture to a new site, the folks on the Dis photo board are a pretty helpful bunch of camera nerds.

'ello folks...

... I LURK on the DIS photo board - not that I know anything. I've always worked at a 6MP level or lower - and I've printed 12x13 gloss or somewhat larger on canvas textured and framed prints. The canvas texturing hides some of the resolution loss so I've always been satisfied with most of the results.

AND - if you tend to crop significantly then a higher image resolution will enable moderate cropping while retain more usability.

My gripe and concern is the larger the file size the more computing power you'll consume or need - or you'll have to allow a few more moments every time you do anything with a full size image. PLUS - I typically work with JPEG images - and I've been thinking of moving into RAW images. I have heard this will demand significantly greater coputer power - and if so then alarger RAW image will magnify my computer power deficiencies.

However - the main reason for going into RAW image use is the image has a reversible process of manipulation. Whereas the JPEG process is irreversible... and requires you maintain a duplicate ORIGINAL image file otherwise risk an irreversible mistake when manipulating it.

At any rate - I figure the 10MP 40D will be nice to have. I have not thought it through too much - and I simply told my spouse about it and she sort of smiled and gave me her approval to get it when I find "my deal". She knows I'll be patient - for the most part. See.... when we first met I waited 6 weeks before I asked her why she had not asked ME for a 1st kiss. I went on to explain to her I had never had to ask a girl for a 1st kiss as the girl usually asked me 1st. And she playfully explained she does not ask boys for kisses. I sort of rolled my eyes a bit and that was that. So - she knows I can be somewhat patient on some matters.

Sooz, I'm glad everything worked out OK with your dad!!! :goodvibes

That truely was a blessing in disguise.

Glad to hear everything is OK.

Glad Dad is OK. What a scare :grouphug:

Very scary. Glad that everything worked out.

I'm glad the harm was ... "managable".... and that ultimately some good truly came of it. Prayers and hopes floating your way from our neck of he woods. :goodvibes

Oh Sooz, I'm so glad he's alright! I've had a few scares with Kevin in the past too. I've gotten now so that I know the signs, he gets ghost white, grumpy as h*** and wobbly. Now that's he's on the pump,we don't have as many "episodes" as when he was doing shots.

I am happy it wasn't anything worse. :goodvibes

I am glad your Dad is okay!!!!:thumbsup2 I would be scared too!!!

So glad your Dad is okay, but I'm sorry you had such a scare!

Oh I'm so glad he's okay!

Thanks everybody for all the good wishes!!! You guys are the best!!! :flower3:

Good Morning everyone, boy it's been a while since I've been on, real life put a cog in my wheel. Happy Belated Birthday Wishes to everyone I've missed. Congrats to all who got pirates. Alot has been happening, Boy Scout fundraisers such as selling food at Memorial Day Parade and the 4th of July Fireworks. Running all of the drink counters (7) at our annual Balloon Festival. I wanted to give you all a little bad news also, my dog of 12 years past away on July 5. I still look for her in the backyard, plus whenever we have a ham, we always gave her the bone and she really loved it. I had to keep her outside because she was a lab and loved people to death and I have my inlaws which are in their 80's and can not walk to good living with us. I also have a little of good news, my husband got me a gift certificate for a massage, which he never would have gotten if he didn't go and have one before I did and I leave for vacation tomorrow morning at 4AM, I am going to be visiting my relatives in Maine. Well I have to go now, I don't know if I will be able to get back on until I get back. Happy Birthday to the people I will miss while I am gone. Congrats to the people who get the pirates while I'm gone.

OK...

... U probably kno I'm a nite owl. But then again - I sleep in some.

So - here's a little something I'll share about monday... We tried a new restuarant today - ordered some sauteed fish and it came back FRIED. We just had to politely question the matter - and I was amused/impressed with the boiler-plate excuse the owner had to say: "that's how we prepare the sauteed fish - we fry it then that's how it is - if you wanted sauteed fish then don't order the sauteed rock cod - order the sauteed flounder. Different restuarants prepare every dish differently...". I was trying hard not to laugh out loud at her explanation... and Alicia was looking at me with this look on her face almost laughing but also almost offended by the illogical statements. I replied with diplomatic hesitation by saying -"...if the sauteed rock cod is FRIED then it should appear in the menu as FRIED and not SAUTEED. And when we order a sauteed dish - we do NOT expect any part of it to be batterred and DEEP FRIED in HOT OIL! And (with some hesitation) ... yes we want the sauteed flounder because my spouse and daughters will not eat this." The owner left and we chatted privately saying... if we stayed we risked "compromising" our other dishes if ya know what i mean - and if we just walked out that would be sort of rude - but perhaps appropriate if not for the entertainment value of the owners' remarks. We figured maybe they had an inexperienced cook prepare the Rock Cod and he either misread the order or lacked the ability to prepare it. Frying is a lot easier - especially since in Barkersfield we regretfully assume the fish is frozen and not fresh or (gasp) live cooked.

Our kids were very hungry but REFUSED to eat the fried fish. My spouse has it drilled into them that it's healthier to avoid all fried foods - although as a "good" spouse I ignore a certain portion what she says routinely. <chuckles> At any rate, I said lets' stay and try the sauteed flounder and "I" would sacrifice <yeah... right> and eat the fried rock cod. It was a ghuge order after all? Alicia replied she would rather send it back - and I said if we send it back we're better off just leaving... and I don't want to do that cuz our kids need to eat right now and da da da, DA da. So - the flounder came out along with a shrimp dish we added. The flounder was cooked to perfection (!) and I thought the shrimp tasted very "nice" (no sarcasm) but has perhaps only "tolerable" in serving size. The Rock Cod and Flounder portions were huge. AND I liked the flounder - except I can only eat so much fried food in one sitting - so I only polished off a modest porportion.

SO... that was dinner. Oh yeah... when the owner came back to pick up the fried Rock Cod early in the meal - as in to not charge us - I declared "it's OK, we'll try it and I would keep it"... she knew we really didn't want it - but also that we were tolerating it. I added we don't send dishes back.... although in truth I have done so a couple times in the past ... as well as having left a nickle for a tip once at a trendly high end restuarant once when I was really ticked at the abysmal service rendered. Alicia has sent back dishes more than me but she tends not to shave gratuities as much as I do when I'm unhappy with service.

You see - my grandfather owned a NYC restuarant for decades so I don't like to raise a ruckus in most restuarants ... rather I am tolerant of letting the management know something is amiss and letting it diplomatically slide most of the time. And sometimes management has responded with something nice - usually with a free dish or meal. In tonights case it was just pleasant service. Yes... I thought the level of service was unusually nice as opposed to what I would have expected otherwise.

I think we all sort of shelter our occupations/histories somewhat from adverse thoughts or turbulant disturbances.... eh?

In the end I must confess we will NOT return to this Bakersfield restuarant again - mostly because they don't take AMEX as that complicates our accounting. And that is partially our fault since we missed the absence of an AMEX welcome sticker on the door or front counter. It's so rare that a restuarant refuses AMEX we tend to forget about checking this.

Oh well... sometimes I wonder if I'm too "nice" about some things... :confused3
