I went to pick up Angelina from work today and guess WHO I found waiting for me at the entrance.......it's LINA Bear (aka Angelina). Angelina's boss John took this pic of the two of us on my new camera phone. I finally figured out how to send the photo to my e-mail address, then I posted it in my photobucket account. I'm such a novice with this cell phone tech stuff........:lmao:

What a cute photo!!!!

I agree entirely!

:rotfl2: ... oh, Crash, we missed you!!!

Anyway I don't usually share things like this but.... We had a little bit of a scare today. This morning we were doing some last minute things for a get together at our house and my Dad collapsed to the floor. Passed out, he is diabetic. We took him to the emergency room and after 6 hours of tests of all sorts, it seems that he took too much insulin which dropped his blood sugar dramatically. He's a little sore from the fall, but other than that okay, Thank God. He's been diabetic since 1984 and on insulin since 2000 and this is the first time something like this has happened.
Something good did come from this, he had all those tests that he had been reluctant to do before. ;)

Happy Sunday everyone!!! :hippie: :grouphug: pixiedust:

OK... Now I'm caught up to page 4721 and posting 70,801. And I'm exhausted - mostly from still trying to recover from our recent travels. I can't remember being so wacked before from a trip. I dunno why I feel so wacked. Maybe the fires they've had north of us in Santa Barbara are affecting me. I've just learned they've had a continuious fire out there since something like the 5th of AUGUST! WOW! THe first day home on the 16th I was driving around thinking why on earth is the sky so BROWN? And of course I could not tell there was a fire on for 11 days!

At any rate - here are my GROUNDHOG inspired multi-quotes. Please forgive me for hoggin up some vertical real estate to post my replies to yesterdays' news and coversations....

Here is Crash earlier today

hawaii_surfing11024x768.jpg

Right at this moment I am listening to the Brothers Cazimero (Hawaiian Music) and thinkin' as I look at this image - "Oooo Yeah... don't I wish that I could surf like THAT!... it would be so cool ... alas I don't swim well enuf to consider surfing! Maybe some day I'll improve my swimming and try surfin'?"

I wanted to say something profound for my 1000th post on this thread but instead I just kept on talking!!!:rotfl2:

Congrats on your 1000th posting to the commmunity! It's officially a DYN_O_Myte achievement!!!.....

47 and still feel like a kid...hard to believe I am pushing 50...age is just a number. It's not the years in your life, but the life in your years that count (Abe Lincoln).

Beautiful Debi! Thanks for floatin' the thought!!!

Who else, besides myself, is really missing CAPTAINCRASH?
Raise your hand!

Thanks for the kind thoughts BIP!

To everyone who is leaving for vacation in the next few days...

Have a great trip...Be safe....Take lots of pictures and please share them upon your return!

I've not loaded any of my Oahu photos yet - or if I have I don't remember having done so. Still kind of tired - and I'm about to make myself a lite late supper in a couple minutes.... maybe then I'll feel refreshed, eh? I'm listening to Duran Duran now (The Wedding Album) - and it's very relaxing....

Thank you BIP. I like to pull them out every year or so and giggle. We were so young! It's amazing how much I look like my Mom now. She was just 1 week shy of her 40th birthday when we got married.

Debi -

- I had to say these are such a wonderful series of photos! It makes me wish i knew where our wedding photos are hidden in our home. I have a guess as to where they are - but I have not seen them in many years now. I have ONE photo on the fridge taken when my spouse and I first visited Hawaii together many many years ago. We had just gotten our hair done and a cousin had taken us to a "restricted" area on a military base - a mountain pass where the japanese planes passed on thier surprise attack route to pearl Harbor - I'll shoot a photo of the photo now to try and post here now....

i5F452BFD-4E6A-4716-9583-7A603DB8148B.jpg

This photo is probably 23 or 22 years old... or maybe even 24 years old! I dunno anymore.
I'm editing this now - and just showed the image to my daughters and asked them WHO these people above were - they said... "I dunno"!

Don't remind me. LOL
I just turned 38 and that's how old my MOM WAS when I got married. I really don't like to think about that.. cause I thought she was practically ANCIENT when I got married. Yet I don't feel ancient... i still feel like a big kid. LOL (and I tell ya what- I can't even imagine having a daughter getting married at my age now! I'm not even sure I can handle it when the time comes- hopefully many years from now LOL)

I MUST agree!!!! I still feel like a big kid - but a lot of the time I just feel worn out too. GO figure?

You might all already be aware of this, if so I apologize as I was away on the Magic, but 2008 resort packages for Disneyland are now out, and I have just booked through DREAMS, a pre cruise stay, for four days staying at the Disneyland hotel, on-site.

Now need to book flights in September.

So if you are going to Disney before our cruise you can book now!

Thanks andrew for keeping the herd on the path! Your experience and timely candor is truly appreciated!

All together now..."JENGA JENGA" :lmao:

QUIZ

What is this???

For the non Romantic viewers the answer is not a load of padlocks!
Florence.
DCL2007097.jpg

Amalfi

The answer is young love.

When boy and girl get together and want to show their long lasting love for each other, they purchase a padlock, put their names on it, and padlock it to the frame of a fence etc.

They then throw away the key, of the cliff, or into the River to show it will last forever!!

Beautiful Andrew! What a wonderfully romantic custom! In LA we use
furry pink handcuffs punched through 100 page prenuptial agreements to mark the same romantic committments!

hsc0823l.jpg

By far the most people on the cruise were still from the USA, that was very evident, then I feel the Brit's because my cruise July 28th is within our school holidays a lot of people from the UK with kids.

A guesstimate, about 20% British, there were some people from Europe and Asia, particularly from Spain, Italy, and some from the Middle east, maybe Dubai.

Fascinating Andrew!

Here a just a few from a time long,long ago.(June 16,1979)

Debi - again... what beautiful pix - thanx fer sharin'!

This will be us next year when we celebrate are 40th anniversary. :rolleyes1 I thought this was funny.

A man and his wife, now in their 60's, were celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary. On their special day a good fairy came to them and said that because they had been so good that each one of them could have one wish.

The wife wished for a trip around the world with her husband.

Whoosh! Immediately she had airline/cruise tickets in her hands.

The man wished for a female companion 30 years younger...

Whoosh...immediately he turned 90!!!

Gotta love that fairy!

Indeed - this was a HOOT! I shared it with Alicia - an' she had a really good chuckle over it!!!! Thanx!!!!

I went to my step brother's wife's funeral this morning. We did not know her very well, except .. [edited] ... it felt like I was in the middle of some low budget "black" comedy. My step brother was clearly wasted. How do you respond to something like that?

I am saddened to have read this - however - I'd like to offer my supportive understanding and condolences to your expanded family... belated. And add - I too have some colorful stuff in our "clan"... stuff that is best left for another time to share since this is one long multi-quote.... my cheap excuse for side steppin' it fer now. However - I think many of us have colorful footnotes in our clan histories...

Thanks, You know I just don't miss it any more but I remember everyday "But for the grace of God there go I" I only have today and I will make the best of it. That is all I can hope for everyone else. I believe that I should live each day as if it might be my last. Never know what will happen and I really want others to remember the positive I have offered not words I have said in anger. Enough said got to get back to watch TV with my spouse. Lois

Simply beautiful thoughts - thanks for sharing these words .... it is soooo true.

We've put a building in our back yard (900 sqft) that will be devoted entirely to his model trains.

`

NOW THIS is what i call "livin'" one's dreams!!!! In a fanciful way at that! I gotta tip my hat to ya fer doin' it! Trains in a dedicated 900' building! Yeah!!!!

I had to take a look at the spec and review on the Nikon 40Dx. It looks like the next generation body for the Canon 40D to match (er, beat?). And at a little over $1K ... I'd say it's a better deal then the 30D hands down - and something to chaf about if the 40D is priced like the 30D... $1400 list.

It has a slower FPS rate - 3 versus 5 on the 30D ... but I have always admired the build quality and nice tactile feel of the Nikon DSLRs. I used to be an all Nikon enthusiast - until rencent years. I know we chatted about this a few months ago - but just the same - you know I DROPPED my 10D ... so have been in a leaking rowboat crisis since.

Staples has it for $700 (Nikon that is)

Welcome Back Diane! Of course we missed you! I'm glad no one got arrested!

I thought you would be at Graceland this weekend!

Yes, i am a camping wuss... I won't go unless there are flushable toilets....

Now my DD started camping with the girl scouts and she's definately more outdoorsy than i. At her first 1 week camp, she did fine in a platform tent but i almost couldn't leave her there when i saw all the tent caterpillars and the daddy long-leggers....:scared1:

We love camping. Heck we spent last New Year's Eve in a cabin with an outhouse. I even spend an entire summer of my life in one of those Girl Scout standard issue platform tents. I used to carry the daddy long legs out of the tents by their legs just to freak out the girls.

I'm glad the harm was ... "managable".... and that ultimately some good truly came of it. Prayers and hopes floating your way from our neck of he woods. :goodvibes

I gotta get the family up now - we gotta meet 2 other families now - we've been cornered into a kidspace muesum visit this morning - and I gotta prepare some kind of picnic contribution. Well... my spouse did half of the prep work last nite - and it'll go quick.

TTFN!
