We love the theater too. I could camp out at Leichester Square thrice weekly to catch a half price show. And in SF I could envision dining out a somewhere new just as often. In either city wandering through a new path every other day would be such a plesaure!

AND... I can relate to your not getting out somehow to see the "renown attractons" in your own back yard. I have lived my entire life in SoCal and there remain a few things I have yet to get around to as well. for example I have not been to the recently reopened Getty Malibu estate - nor have I been to the Peterson automotive or several other museums locally. So yeah... after 4 plus decades around LA - I have NOT seen it all yet out here! Just like you folks - except you may have less time in your region (or not?).

At any rate - may I suggest ya gotta look ta the bright side of things sometimes. You're living near a destination I regard with some degree of unabashed envy. And TOMORROW you could retask your weekend to start hiking with family in tow. Get one of those backpacks with a child seat and hit the trails! It may not be a bike - but it will get you out there. OR... his weekend might be the perfect time to do a picnic in the Presidio area while overlooking the fantastic vistas! So... if ya do get out - we would love ta see some pix of the vistas ya took in... ok? < steady grinnin' ;) >

THIS Weekend, we're goin' to Disneyland... So no hiking for us. I'll try to post some Pic's when we get back.

If you do come up to our neck of the woods, let me know. There's a place to get 1/2 price theater tix in Union Square & we know some hidden treasures (there are *some* advantages to living here :))
Great job Tom. :thumbsup2 What a great idea. Let us know if we can help with some of the writing.
OK... Maybe I gave you my home e-mail address. Gotta check before we leave for So.Cal. this afternoon, otherwise, Tom, you'll get a PM asking (begging) to be put on the list.:surfweb:
Please also pray for 2 families of 2 teenagers. These are girls that my daughter went to drama camp with (but my niece knows both of them really well). They are a bit older than Ruby- Ruby is 13 and they are 16 but they were in the same "age group" and the one girl Ruby did most of her skits with. Anyway, that girl she did most of the skits with- had just started driving (just got her license) about a week and a half before... she was driving and had a friend with her (the other girl from drama camp, also 16) and she pulled out on a dangerous country highway (lots of 18 wheelers)- she waited for one to pull by and didn't see the other one- and she pulled out- basically entering the traffic in BETWEEN two 18wheelers without realizing it- she thought she was pulling in behind one but didn't know another was right behind it. The passenger girl died instantly.... the one driving is still in the hospital. At this point she doesn't even know her friend died in the accident- she doesn't even remember the accident. She has some broken bones, head injury and some internal injuries. She will live... but she has a hard road ahead of her as far as physically- and mentally/emotionally especially after she finds out about her friend.
:(
Both families -and the girl that was driving- could sure use some prayers.

Scares me so bad.. it won't be long before my oldest will be getting a driver's license... yanno? :(

Oh, BIP, I'm so sorry for all the families involved. :grouphug:
If my recollection is correct, under one of the ports in the itinerary section of the website, there is a link for all ages horseback riding.
We had booked (but didn't end up going on, because of sickness) an excursion in Cozumel with Mike's Gentle Horses. Our DD was 2 at the time & they had no problems.

Great pic's Roger! I am anxiously counting down the days until that is US!

Todd - glad to hear that you (and your luggage!) made it safely to Spain. Enjoy your time there and on the Magic!

NEWSLETTER-ACAPULCO

Thank you for the newsletter, I note in it there was comment in time in the Acapulco port, is less in 2008 than 2005 based on my navigators.

This is true, but this was 'compensation' from Disney after a number of complaints.

We had an extra port, in central America, I think it was Guatemala, when the cruise was booked, then it was dropped, i think for security issues, DCL didn't replace this but after complaints extended our stay in Acapulco, we had paid port charges for this other stop so they were used to pay for an extended stay in Acapulco.

We also arrived about 9pm the day before our Panama crossing to refuel, so the trip time was was feasible.

I think DCL will have paid port charges for a shorter period this time and calculated that in our cost.

Now the only loss from that is staying out late to see cliff divers at night, and the fact the brought on local entertainment, for the evening and they disembarked before we left, we had a deck party that night.

I wouldnt go around late at night there unless in a tour group.

OK, I promised DH I wouldn't obsess about this cruise until at least 1 year before it left. Well, the time has come. :woohoo: Let the obsession begin. I have tried to keep up with the posts, but not always sucessfully. This trip will be in celebration of our 8th anniversary which is August 5, 2008. I am now trying to talk him in to going to CA a few days early to visit Disneyland. I haven't been there in almost 30 years.

AWESOME! Keep that ship in good shape for us, Captain!!

I still find it so hard to imagine that someone can be RIGHT HERE one day, and all the way across the pond the next.

Have a GREAT time!!!!

Happy Friday to all!

10 days from my 1st DCL... and 365 days till the TOAL!

See 'yall next year.

(pray for no hurricances)

What a nice surprise to see the news letter this morning!
That was great!
Guess I better get busy researching Panama Canal so I can have my part updated. :)

Happy 365 days everyone!!!

I guess I missed something.....:sad1: :sad1: WHAT newsletter???

.

Thanks for the offer! I do, however, know about the half price office on Union Square. BUT - we know little of the locals' "secrets" to fine dining on a Tommy's Joynt budget! Or rather - we would welcome dining referrals of all kinds the next time we are planning a visit to your mythical region!

Cheers!

That's either DWP - same as me OR the Inland Revenue / HMRC :confused3

David

Its the latter - it wasn't too hard to work out tho' was it? My redeeming features are I don't do self assessment, tax credits, PAYE, corporation tax or wear a uniform (DH may disagree on the last part)!!

Roger...can I add a couple of pictures?

This first one was taken while we waited to get on the ship. After going through xray, you're led outside the terminal (on the "back" side) where the photographers have the "Welcome Aboard" background set up, get your picture taken, and then go across the gangway to the ship:
