He sure got his wish, Cheryl.:goodvibes

:thumbsup2 I figured that's what you were saying. :)

I would LOVE to do WDW on this trip too but
A) no way we can do that- the kids might already be missing some school as it is. We'll be rushing back fast as we can after the cruise and
B) I'm not keen on the idea of WDW AFTER a cruise in the first place... before is great, I don't want to do it afterwards.

but we still haven't rode the new ride in AK! (it wasn't open yet when we did the last cruise last May) :(

I hear you, that's why the 2 Disney cruises we have been on we have done WDW/DL first. I always need a vacation after that. :rotfl:

This will be us next year when we celebrate are 40th anniversary. :rolleyes1 I thought this was funny. :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :dance3:

A man and his wife, now in their 60's, were celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary. On their special day a good fairy came to them and said that because they had been so good that each one of them could have one wish.

The wife wished for a trip around the world with her husband.

Whoosh! Immediately she had airline/cruise tickets in her hands.

The man wished for a female companion 30 years younger...

Whoosh...immediately he turned 90!!!

Gotta love that fairy!

Gotta love it. :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Tomorrow we are heading out to LI to Hofstra to watch Jets training camp. Football season is upon us....I love it!

Night all!

I went to my step brother's wife's funeral this morning. We did not know her very well, except that her and my brother are both drunks. She passed away on the 7th of Psorosis, she was 46 but looked like 76. An "old" friend of hers got up to read an open letter to her and talked about how they rode around with her uncle, at 15, getting drunk and smoking pot and how much fun they had. And then the final song that was played was one I'd never heard of,by Brad Paisley and Alisson Krauss called "Whiskey Lullaby". All I could do was shake my head,:sad2: it felt like I was in the middle of some low budget "black" comedy. My step brother was clearly wasted. How do you respond to something like that?

What a shame. :sad2: I have a cousin that has had to go to State PRISON because of so many DUIs! He was in Prison for a few years.... Thankfully he has never had a wreck with another car and never injured anyone -- not even himself!
He lives in a very small town (300 people) near a couple of other small towns (1500 people) and we think that the cops just knew his car and stopped it everytime they saw it!

Sara, that's exactly what we thought. The police wanted to file Attempted Murder against her but he wouldn't press charges. Her brother was passed out drunk on the couch while it happened. They were fighting over who got the last beer in the fridge. And now,his step son is married to this woman's daughter. I kid you not!

That is a Jerry Springer show waiting to happen. And incredibly sad!

From somebody who has been clean and sober for 19 years, they have other options. Only problem is they have to want it more than the high. Doesn't sound like he has lost enough yet. There is a saying around the 12 step tables that our choice is Death, Jail or Sobrity. I choose Sobrity. I am sorry that you had to endure that and that he continues to life like that. I never want to go back. Lois

Good for you, my friend! :)
I've never been much of a drinker (hardly ever really) but I do know I have very LOW limits so even when I drink on the rare occasion I know to take it easy. I also know I have a "tendency" towards addiction (hello-cigs? I could easily get out of hand with gambling too which is why I avoid it all together. Come to think of it- I'm probably a wee bit addicted to the computer and ofcourse I'm addicted to chocolate or any sugar in general LOL). I had a "life lesson" at a young age that nipped any chance of me ever becoming an alcoholic.... a life lesson thru my MOM. She had DUI's (never hit anyone else or hurt herself either- but bashed up the car pretty good a few times, especially scary that most of the dings and scratches were from riding down the rails over bridges!) and such- and the last night she went out drinking and dancing- is the last night she not only danced but also the last night she walked. She had a tendency to "black out" once she'd drank so much (hence the reason the car would be scratched up and stuff from bridges and she wouldn't even know she did it the next day!) and she left the bar, blacked out.. and ended up in a country road going across the street down and up a ditch and out in a field. she hit a "hill" in the field and the tire, not screwed in the hatchback because she'd just thrown it back in there after removing it to take a tv to get fixed recently, hit her in the neck. She had a seatbelt on.
She's quadraplegic now. That happened 18yrs ago, when I was 20... 2mo after I got married. that'll nip any thoughts of drinking in the bud- let me tell you. The last time I drank was the 2 glasses of wine (on 2 different nights) on our cruise last year. I'm just not "into" it... and I can't handle drinking much AT ALL before I'm already tipsy...

(must add in defense of my mom- she also knew her limits and did not intend on driving that night. She had my much younger sister spending the night with me and Jeff and her boyfriend was supposed to drive her home. But she got drunk and told him to go on without her and he did... not blaming him. Just saying... she thought she'd prepared ahead in case she got drunk but once she was drunk those plans went out the window. yanno?)

All of us girls (her girls, me and my sisters) have addictive tendencies in different ways- but none of us hardly ever drink, if at all. NO question why...

What a cute looking couple!!! :thumbsup2 Don't you just love looking back at younger times?

Sometimes Hazel and I do that, and we just laugh at ourselves because of how we looked so many years ago. My, how the years have changed us.

QUIZ

What is this???

For the non Romantic viewers the answer is not a load of padlocks!
Florence.
DCL2007097.jpg

Amalfi
DCL2007059.jpg

The answer is young love.

When boy and girl get together and want to show their long lasting love for each other, they purchase a padlock, put their names on it, and padlock it to the frame of a fence etc.

They then throw away the key, of the cliff, or into the River to show it will last forever!!

Now as Julie is touring Europe inbetween DCL cruises, she gets back on next Saturday for the transatlantic I can get away with this.

If you look at the Amalfi one you will see:-

FRABRIZO for JULIE, her Italian Lover to be!

IS THIS THE LEANING TOWER OF CHOCOLATE, well the Chocolate fountain on the Magic.

Lois, that is wonderful that you have chosen the better life. I too, have seen people hit rock bottom before they have to choose to get out of that hole.

Debi, unfortunately that is a choice he will have to make, and hopefully someday he can before it's too late. May God Bless you and your family!
