Thought that I would share pictures of DBIL throwing out the first pitch last Thursday at the Dodger game. I missed it since I was working.

Actually I used my new "SpiderCo." Knife to cut the edges a bit.

You might try sandpaper... That can be quite effective.

I just finished beating the crap out of Melissa's brand new boots ..now they look like they were worn by ES ....its nice to have rocks ,pool, dremel, shoe polish, sand paper and leather dye ....all of that to give it the worn out look ...pirate:

See, even the master uses sandpaper. Distressing is an art... Do a little at a time, since it's hard to un do.

I woke up this morning at 5 am with 3 inches of rain water in the basement.(Keep it clean MR) Pumps and dry vacs, but all is now well.

Nothing is quite so disconcerting as carpet that goes squish...

Hope all is well & dry for you.

OK, between Pete, our beloved captian and Roger, I thought I should haul out the costumes DH & I wore last year. Bear in mind that this is stuff we threw into the suitcases at the last minute, nothing was made specifically for this trip.

Bip, Andy posted a picture a couple of days ago. I tried to look back and find it, but couldn't. I am sure he will post it again if you ask. Andy had originally posted the order form back in february I think. It is of Mickey in a pirate outfit with a feather for the plume in his hat. It is a resin figurine. Really cute.:goodvibes

Chris I hope it works out that you get some sleep on your flight. You are gonna have a blast. I wish I had the guts to take a trip like that by myself.:goodvibes
Ahh, I thought it was a plush type mickey dressed in pirate garb. I saw the figuring thing he showed. :)

Todd sounds like you are being a little mean to those boots!:lmao:
Yeah, ya big meanie. :lmao:

BIP went back and borrowed Andy's picture. It is the statue on the right.

CaptnMickey.jpg
gotcha. I was thinking we were talking about something else though. Apparently I'm not following along well, am I? LOL

I can tell I am gonna be way underdressed compared to you all! :rolleyes1

I think it is great that you all are going all out for pirate night!!! I am sure my camera is gonna be busy busy that night.:goodvibes
ditto (I'm going to be way underdressed too). In fact I was thinking if we do end up buying the DREADED black tees that we'll wear them on pirate night- that's as far as we're going to get in dressing up for pirates night. Hey, we're not the rockefellers (or the "sparrows" LOL) -we're still saving to pay for the TOAL -can't worry about costumes! LOL

Working on my Mr. Cotton as well. First attempt was from our recent Wonder trip. DW made the shirt. Will need to get a different color scarf and a vest by next year. Sorry for the scary look. :scared1: Also need to smug up my face a bit.

Wow, so cool!
this is going to be neat with so many dressed up and looking SO much like the "real" characters... I think I'm going to have to get pictures and pretend I was at the movie set or something. ;)

You bet your Add there is ...Thats why we are having getting the big rush on before we leave ....Here are some pictures of Melissa's costume before the lightening of the coat and the beating commences :lmao: :lmao:

Now some changes have been since these pics ...The belt (Baldrick, Sword Belt ) has been made and 1 1/2 wider ....and some other minor things ...But its coming out cool ...

pirate:
Very cool.
But I'm DYING :rotfl2: at the "lady" the costume is on right now. And she needs some pants, this is a family board you know. Thank goodness she's not "correct" -if you get what I'm saying without saying it. LOL

Actually Todd, DW got a parrot from Target earlier in the year that repeats what you say. Not sure how to get on my shoulder. We would love more photos of Mr. Cotton, they are hard to find.
Sew it on?
or if you want it to be removable- you could use velcro- that way you could remove it off your shoulder whenever you wanted? Even if the parrot isn't made of material that would stick to velcro- you can buy the strips for both sides of the velcro and attach one side to the parrots "underside" and the other part of the velcro to your clothing. should be removable later if you wanted to remove the velcro from the clothing later.

How cool is that!

You just threw those together last minute?

I'm not worthy.... we'd never be able to come up with costumes like that!

Happy Thursday everyone!!!:hippie: :grouphug: pixiedust:

My Multi-Quotes disappeared, and I don't remember what they were, oh well.

Oh remembered one, Welcome back Andrew!!! Thanks for sharing the photos, please give us more!!!:thumbsup2

Plus I am almost done with the new wig , just have to get some Hair Mascara to lighten up some areas on the wig and I will be good to go ....

pirate:

OK, tell me more, Hair Mascara???? I was going to ask you anyway how to make some of my dreads blond. Not sure if I'll have time to do it for this trip though. Also, not going to be able to distress the whole outfit for this go around. But for the PC repo, it'll be better.

Here's the skirt and belt as of today. Belt is still being worked on. Too fuzzy right now.

Bodice is being finsihed by my mom. Hopefully tomorrow.

G'mornin' pirate:s

So here's the thing - I much prefer wind chill factor to heat index! It was 104 yesterday. Heat index of 115. How do people live here? Ugh.

Wow, chatty bunch yesterday. Thanks for sharing the pics Andrew, welcome back.

Now I'm all excited about costumes again! I have so many ideas, but here is the thing: I can't sew! At all. Either DH sews patches on Cub Scout uniforms or I pay someone to do it. I'm very creative, I just can't execute. DH has made several awesome Halloween costumes for the kids based on my ideas using mostly hot glue, but there will not be a costume factory in my basement. Well, I don't currently have a basement, but you get my drift.

I was thinking about either nightgown Elizabeth from the first movie since I think I can buy most of the clothes & my hair pretty much does the poofy-curly thing in the tropics anyway. OR, I was thinking maybe commando ninja Elizabeth (NOTE: decidedly NOT commando & with a bit more length on the bottom). I'll have to go back & see what her hair looks like in that scene. If it is straight, I'll have to skip that one. There is no way my hair will ever be straight in Aug. in the Caribbean. If her hair is up or curly, I think I can pull that one off. The legs are the last to go. I know this because everything else went...

I want DH to be Norrington. We haven't done much searching, but our first look for a coat we couldn't find anything for less than $300 which is more than I am willing to spend.

Good golly - we only have 12 more months to decide!

So should we start planning regional mini-meets throughout the country on the one-year-to-go date in a few weeks?

Forgot to add that you skirt looks awesome Monica.

Roger you ARE Mr. Cotton!

Todd - Melissa is going to need some pants.

Right?

Morning everyone:goodvibes

Heard there was a small earthquake outside of LA early this am. Hope everyone is OK.
Looks like another hot one today.I guess with it this hot I shouldn't complain on how cold they keep our building at work.Perhaps sweaters and blankets are a fashion statement in August?

I just finished beating the crap out of Melissa's pirate:

Had to re-read that...Read it too fast the first time:laughing:

Well I'll tell ya, my first attempt is being made with a Simplicity pattern. :rotfl:

Hey don't nock the patterns...Actually i had a real nice pattern for my bodice last year. (and only paid about $2 at JoAnn's)

M- My DH's jacket was made from a simplicity pattern. I wouldn't work on it too hard especially if you want to slightly drunk/slightly worn Norrington look.
BTW wearing those jackets are killer hot in the tropics so go light on the fabrics and undergarments. My DH was roasting big time on the last trip.

We have to replace Mr. Gibbs.

IMHO Brack is not really replaceable.... Can we just explain that he's off tending to the rum.....?

Of course, here in NJ, I have been through 4 tornados.....(not the place you would expect them...)

We had an F0 that scared the heck of of us in Germantown, MD that spun off of IVAN i believe a few years back. Scared the crap out of us. My part of the neighborhood was OK sans a few roof shingles and fascia boards. Over across the main street the next cluster had roofs ripped off and chimney's toppled.

Frederick has had a couple come up the valley out of VA since we've been here but they usually skip over the portion we live in and reappear just north of us.

Great skirt Monica!

You have to put some dirt on it!

Thanks for the pics.

I like the nightgown ES idea. That sounds doable. Great ideas.

Awful ambitious of you to volunteer to organize this nationwide! :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Too much trouble to be had commenting... I would just reference comments about 20,000 posts ago that this (commando ninja) should be the ET costume of choice....:rolleyes1

The worst one in Trenton was when I was 12, tried to run home as storm came in and didn't make it, a friend and I were about 100 feet away watching as the tornado lifted up a house, deposited it in the middle of the street then the funnel picked up and skipped to the next town. (no one killed, just a few broken bones)....
