Hi Erin! I see your from Mentor, OH. My mom grew up in Painesville! I know that area pretty well, especially Rt 20! I still have an aunt in Madison. Small world!

It is a small world Tina.....my SIL lives in Painesville.....she teaches biology at Lakeland College. Do you ever make it back there? It's a very pretty area.

Greetings from my temporay dial-up...wireless is coming next Monday. I started to ketchup & decided it was better to remain oblivious...(cue Kumbaya)

Glad to see you back Lorri!
I hope you had a great time in Alaska, Mary!

I have a job. YAY! I may start 8/20 if I can figure out day care, otherwise I will start when school starts 9/4. The job is interesting with a really great organization. I'll be able to shift my hours so I can be home in the morning to get the kids off to school. DH is doing the opposite - going in at zero-dark-thirty & coming home early. He should be able to pick the boys up from after school care less than an hour after school ends. Not too bad - 2 working parents and less than an hour of daycare for my monkeys. Oh, and a BIG raise over my last job, so YAY! The downside is that it is IN THE CITY, so I'll be spending 45 min. on the Metro each way. Beats sitting in traffic, but it is still an hour and a half of my life that I won't get back. Maybe I can get a Blackberry and DIS! That's productive, right???

Besides unpacking and wondering how in the heck we accumulated all this stuff & where the heck I am going to put it, I've been shopping for my COAL - Car Of A Lifetime. It is probably the only brand spankin' new car I will ever splurge on & the one I've wanted since I was 16. Details & photos to follow!

I think I am officially having a midlife crisis. I'll be 35 in Oct. & in the past 4months I got a tatoo, ran a triathlon & I'm getting my COAL. Life is good & if this really is mid-life and I make it to 70, I think I'm doing good (at least better than any other female in my family).

I should be around a bit more now that we have some version of Internet at home.

I think we've done this before on the thread... DH & I are native Clevelanders also - North Olmsted to be exact.

Mentor is Bizarro North Olmsted (remember Superman). My SIL is from there. I swear the two suburbs are virtually identical, but one is on the east side and one is on the west side.

Happy Birthday Arlene!

Congrats on the job!! Sounds like you have done a great job of organizing everything. Wow, a COAL! Can't wait to see which one!

Most of my relatives down there have passed on. My grandparents and my mom are buried in Evergreen Cemtery. My one aunt lives in Madison. Usually when I go down to see her I take the turnpike to I-480 to I-90 which takes me south of Cleveland. I spent alot of time there when I was a kid. Great Lakes Mall in Mentor was the first mall I ever went in! I have a couple of cousins there one lives on the west side in Sunny Valley? or some place and the other moves around alot.

I'll have it with you, M. I turn that horrible # also in Oct. In the past 6 months i've lost 70 lbs, thought about a tatoo (but dh is opposed), and i am more seriously thinking about getting a scooter.

I saw this cute red Vespa scooter the other night and loved it.....

I think i might have to go kick a few tires this weekend.;) at the local dealership.

I really am excited to think about loosing my car and gaining a scooter.

Maybe it's time to clean out some room in the garage.

Yikes!!:scared1: :scared1: Still - a good deal to make. Trade smokes for a living DH. I'd do it (if I'd ever been able to smoke).

Right now, I'm on a campaign to get both of us exercising regularly in the hopes that it will make us both a little slimmer by next summer.

There was no option at the time. DH quit smoking in the ambulance to the hospital. I quit in the emergency room after they shocked him back to the living.:cheer2:

With weight loss and my stop smoking ,I brought my blood pressure fro 220/180 before medicine to 110/70 without medicine.:rolleyes1 It is amazing how the body can change when you start to take care of it.:woohoo:

Congrats on the new job!

I've been having my mid-life crisis for the past 18 months or so...got my first ever new car in Apr 06, two tatoos and I don't know what's next! (Umm, yeah I do, two more tats...) Figure I need to get this all in before I turn 40 next year.:scared1:

We had a wonderful stay in the Big Apple! I do have to say that the highlight of our trip was meeting and spending time with our wonderful friends. Thank you so much Peter for organizing it!!

Last night around 10:30 pm we went to the Top of the Rock! What a wonderful view! It was amazing how far removed we felt from the hustle and bustle of the city. We also rode the subway down to the WTC site yesterday morning. Even with all the construction going on there it still brings tears to your eyes. The exhibit they have in the church is really moving. We then walked to Little Italy for lunch and then along Canal Street to board the subway back to Times Square. We took a horse carraige through Central Park--we had walked through it one afternoon, but the horse ride was very enjoyable. We had dinner at Ellen's Stardust Diner--it was a really fun place. The waitstaff all take turns singing and getting the diners involved.

And of course we took in the World of Disney store at 55th and 5th. It was nice to get a taste of Disney while we were here.

I hope to come back one day and be able to iceskate at Rockerfeller Center. Hope you all have a wonderful day---we head for the airport in a couple of hours. :goodvibes

Good luck to all you wishing to quite smoking. We'll all be here to support you.

Maureen, hoping to read further and find that everything is ok.

back to catching up now

Hi,
Well - I'm past "mid-life" crisis age - but I did get tatoos. A bit different though - I had permanent eyeliner & eyebrows done.
What - maybe later life vanity attack???
