Mary, cool new family picture. Madison will flip since she is so bummed that she won't be sailing with Dylan.

Thanks Roger! I know Dylan is disappointed not to be traveling with Madison too. He is really starting to take notice of the pretty girls! We will just have to get together for dinner very soon.

Do they really have codine in regular benedryl for kids? I'll have to watch out for that since I sure don't want to test it on DS!
No codine in regular benadryl - just the warning that it (like codine) can cause different reactions. I didn't mean to be confusing.
:hippie:

She is wonderful, thinks she is a lap dog sometimes, can't play fetch (better at keep away), loves "her kids", her bad side is climbing on the counter to look for food and eating whatever she can find (usually a loaf of bread)....

Hey Tom - do you have my Dal???????

fits her to a T... One day I went to the grocery store - came home to unpack - searched and searched for the cantaloup I bought and found her in the den with it broken in half. I was going to share BUT... she claimed it all her own. She loves fruits and veggies. oh and the 1000 treats and burgers my FIL feeds her.

:rolleyes1 Benadryl works wonders too. A very good friend of mine works with kids in a group home type setting and it's part of their daily regimen.

gotta be careful with Benadryl, some kids have the opposite reaction and get wound up

Our pediatrician told us years ago that we could use Benedryl for the kids on a flight, but he warned me that it had the opposite effect on his daughter. Said he spent one whole flight chasing her up and down the aisle. I never did give it to my kids. :rotfl2:

I'll be first in line when Disney announces that they'll take us to Alaska!

Stace, I didn't realize you were going to home school Jordan! I am sure you will enjoy the time you spend with her. :)

At her age, I won't have to do a whole lot with her. She'll be able to self-guide fairly well. She's happy with the idea, because she can stay on the school's dance team....at least that's what we've been told so far....and she will have her diploma sooner and be able to get a job and start college sooner.
Makes me happy, because now I can go to work and not have to worry about the dogs being alone all day.

Since I am at work I will offer my professional opinion. :lmao: :stir:

Yes some younger childern can experience a stimulant effect from antihistamines (won't go into details). For most children it does work as a very good sedative and has mild antiemetic properties (anti-nausea). The best advice would be to try it on your kids at home ahead of time. If they are going to react strangely to it, let it be at home and not at 40,000ft up in an enclosed aircraft.

Thanks for your nice replies.

To everyone else - my sincerest apologies for adding to the HOT weekend.

Good evening.

I actually use children's benedryl before I fly. I have severe allergies (enviromental) and it helps with ear and sinus pressure in the plane. When I take one children's tablet it doesn't make me drowsy so I can be awake and make sure I get my fill of free beverages and direct tv on Jet Blue!:rotfl2:

So how large a dose do I need to give a 14yr old boy...approx 120#
and a 17yr old girl...approx 130# ???

KIDDING!! Honest. But I agree with what was said before....we worked and worked and worked to get them to talk and now they won't shut up!!! ;) ;)

Well Roger, since you are at work, can you answer a pharmacy-related question? :stir: :rolleyes1

Do you know anything about Chantix? DHs doc very highly recommends it as a wonderful cessation tool without all of the nasty side effects of Zyban. Just wondering....

Also, if there are any 'reformed' smokers out there who were able to quit, please share how you were able to achieve such success!!! :)

Well it's not just the HEIGHT thing, it's also that when they are that little (atleast with Rita..) she also doesn't WANT to ride some bigger rides that she'd still be tall enough for, at that age doesn't like to walk around a lot (without a stroller like WDW has) and/or doesn't like standing in line AT ALL. It's a combination of things. Usually by the time they are tall enough to ride almost all and/or all the rides (ie: over 48 inches) they can handle the walking, want to ride the rides, and can "deal" with some standing in line. Yanno?

The rides I'm talking about are still *easy* rides. Nothing great but, a little bigger then Looney tune rides! LOL! :rotfl: My 6dd isn't close 48" Won't be for a leeast a few years...she just hit 38"!!! :rotfl: :rotfl: We always bring our Maclearan umbrella stroller everywhere we go -- the mall, Six Flags, WDW, zoo, museum...her legs would just get way to tiered trying to keep up wiht us *big* people! :)

I don't live far from Six Flags- atleast not far in "texas terms" of far. LOL It's about a 40-45min drive for us which to some might seem far but for us it's not a big deal at all. I've been going there since I was a wee one- I know all the rides they have. (still wish WDW was here instead :rotfl: )

I'm 30 mins. I live on the complete opposite place in Arlington. :) And if you are from this area I'll do a little *mommy brag* 9ds just finished up shows at 2 local theaters! He was in 2 shows at one theater this summer and 1 show at another theater. :)

Thank you. We are so,so proud of him! He missed Honors Graduate by 2 stinking points. But he maintained Flight Leader for most all of his phase. He said he didn't run quite, fast enough and that's why he missed it. He's a good kid. He'll be 21 in Oct. he's also a newlywed :groom: (June 9th). I'll have to find a picture of his bride:bride: to post.

That's dh's b-day. :) They are a beautiful couple!

My MIL has a saying for this....

"They come by it honest."

My oldest DD Megan (25 yrs old and an MA) yelled at me the other day because I hadn't filled the prescription for Chantix that my doctor gave me. So I'd be interested in hearing the answer to this also.
