Kinda says it all....

Just a passing thought... We have some dear friends who would love to go on this cruise with us, so if anyone cancels (or knows someone who cancels) would you mind PM-ing me? That way we could call in just in time. :hippie:

Otherwise, we're down to waiting until the 90 day mark and crossing our fingers.

When Andy cancelled, they wouldn't let a transfer to another family and it seemed that the room never became available... you are probably stuck waiting till the 90 day mark.

So, I have posted in the past about my issues at work and deep concerns as to whether I will have a job in a few months and how I am worried about being able to pay for the cruise next year and how upset I was over not being able to take a vacation this year, and so what did I just go and do?

Booked 10 days at Port Orleans Riverside from August 14-23.

I just told DD5, 'we're sorry, we need to cancel our trip to Wisconsin Dells in August.' As tears began to form, she moaned 'Why?'. And I said, because we're going to be at Disney World that week. She stopped for a moment and then went "Disney World!!" with a huge smile on her face.

Good for you. Wish we had chosen end of August like we normally do, would have liked to meet you and hit the 25th mini-meet...

I heard from Maine Jennifer today. Where we work uses Lotus Notes as our e-mail service. We can communicate with someone within our organization world wide with it. It also has an IM service built in.

Today I noticed my IM box blinking and it was Jennifer. We talked for awhile. She says that she has been really busy at work and hopes to return soon. :thumbsup2

Did I miss someone calling you a nerd, JR????? Actually, I was thinking the other day of the computer guys called the "Geek Squad" who do those ads about coming to fix your computer -- obviously people really respect the term geek or the company wouldn't use it.

Geek Squad is wholly owned and operated by Best Buy. Now I'm not saying they will want to sell you anything, but you do know what Best Buy sells.....

My brother used to work for Geeks on Call, who are not affilliated with any retailer...

Sorry, I didn't say anyone did. I just was cautioning about stereotypes -- I do know someone who gets very upset at being called a geek, mainly due to way too much teasing in high school.

Anyway, I think that's enough on that subject. See what you started Tom???? :rotfl:

Overpriced electronic merchandise that doesn't work half the time?

I seem to be good at starting these....:lmao:

OK! Let's talk about dogs. I've go plenty to say...

:lmao: :rotfl2: :lmao:

Ughh! I have been puppy-sitting all week .... I'm dogged out

My parents took my son on an intergenerational elderhostel (again!) and left their 6 month old Gordon Setter with DH & I. On the plus side, he has been "cured" of wanting a dog for a while! :thumbsup2

This dog is just totally insane. He is actually a little better than when they first got him about 2 months ago. Presumably, he will eventually calm down. Part of the problem is that he spent his first 3 months in a cage - he was a rescue (started out at a puppy mill, then was at a pet store until the Gordon Setter rescue group around here spotted him. He had kennel cough and a few other problems and they convinced the pet store to let them have him for what they paid the puppy mill.) The rescue folks kept him for a few weeks while they got him healthy again and then my parents adopted him. He is cute as can be, very energetic and loves everyone - but he is also totally insane!

He just went home about an hour ago and it is soooo much more peaceful in the house. We have 6 cats and 1 dog is about 10 times more noisy! He'll be back for the last 2 weeks of July :scared: because my parents are going to Germany. At least it is summer and he can spend a lot of time outside!

Nothing wrong with the pup that 2 or 3 years, obedience school, and a treadmill won't fix.

Barbara it's at WL on the 25th and I believe Pete was going to start at 1pm.

Depending on whether or not I have the grandkids will determine what time we show up..

Thanks for the info. We have it marked on our calendar. Looking forward to meeting everyone.

Barbara

Barbara...when you emailed me.....I went ahead and forwarded all your info to Pete and Jack. They will post more as it gets closer. They now have you included in their count.

The firm I work for calls the consulting team geeks (I'm a member of that team). I even have a t-shirt that says "Caution - may geek out with no warning" with appropriately computery type images.

At a Microsoft conference I went to last year - a number of the presenters were wearing black t-shirts with GEEK in large letters on the back - they were the coolest shirts.

I and my workmates consider it to be a compliment to be called computer geeks. Nerds is an entirely different matter in my opinion - has a different meaning (at least in this part of the world).
